Title: Latest lunatic and “sprag /starter-clutch” problems
Post by: Oldrugger on December 09, 2019, 10:52:57 AM
Hi,

Well i bought an abused 1995 900SS. It has the sprag issue so i found Ducatigirl100 post, but sadly the pictures are gone. Any chance she could rehost them?

Also, the previous “owner” must not have liked yellow so they spray painted it black. Gad what is wrong with people. Anyway does anyone know the PPG paint code for a match, or maybe the red or black codes?

Thanks,

Oldrugger i.e. old rugby player.

Welcome [beer].

Might as well go red. The search function should cough up some code numbers. Ducpainter will know off the top of his head.

Like others I have repaired the sprague bearing by re-tightening the peripheral spring, but nowdays I replace the bearing with a high quality part. Don't buy the cheap Thai bearings currently available as they collapse rather than slip when they fail.

I don't know the factory numbers. Can't buy them here. The PPG stuff that Ducati used is in the Global line, and most PBE outlets don't mix it.

I can give you a number of formulas for Ducati Red in a couple of different PPG paint lines from scans of parts. No two Ducatis  are the same red.
