Title: Swapping wheels on a s2r1000
Post by: Alexaskmo on May 18, 2020, 02:54:16 AM
Hey all!

My first proper mod on my s2r and I need your help! Just got myself a pair of 848 wheels, with matching rotors and axel so they fit my s2r. What I'm wondering about now is if I should order any consumables? Or do I keep the bearings etc that I already have?

Fyi: i am taking the opportunity to change sprockets and chain.

Best,
Alex

I'd replace the bearing on the wheels, unless you know the history and condition. Bearings are cheap and easy to replace.

Awesome! Thanks for the response, will do! I'm happy to replace anything if it keeps me “safe” :)

You will likely find issues with rotor offset, check that before spending money.

...really?; don't fool yourself; and the speed dog is very knowledgeable; lift the front, so the wheels off the ground, spin it; should spin freely; if not fork caliper offset mount is different; and you'd be causing undue stress on the rotors,  apply ft breaks while yer at it; do you hear the caliper floats buzzing? … is I think what the dude is sayin

Hi!

Yea, i had already bought rotors for the ducati monster 1200s and Axle for 848 which together help the wheel fit. So it wasnt  just a wheel swap, i did do some research beforehand. What this post was for is to know if any consumables should be replaced and i got the answer i was looking for: wheel bearings :)
