the s2r 800 left the factory with some less exciting components. i have been replacing them over the years.
now i have reached the brakes. Money well spent or overkill for the wee s2r
380 pounds,
Power/weight ratio:0.4395 HP/k
76.0 HP & Torque:72.6 Nm
do i need more stopping power. 380lbs, i am a lightwieght.
a friend has a set of 999 masters, in no rush to sell them. just wants to help out if it works.
neither of use are brake nerds. yes there will be a difference but too much of a good thing ..
the goal is get rid of coffins without 'braking' ;D the bank.
overkill or tasteful and beneficial mod?
I bought an old 900 SS for a backup track bike. The PO had 'upgraded' to radial calipers.
I don't like them with the stock calipers. The feel is wooden. Not sure if it's the leverage, or what.
If I wanted to upgrade your brakes without going crazy, I'd look for a set of Goldline calipers with the pee cups, and use a more aggressive pad.
Have you done the fork properly? Or plan to?
If not, don't do the brakes.
What he said^
4-pad calipers on 320 rotors with a coffin master are really fine.
Are you running the 2-piston calipers with the 300mm rotors still? Or did you upgrade already to the 4-piston and 320mm setup?
That may help some of us answer questions better.
