I am going to fit an ignitech to my 1998 Monster 900... where do you guys that run them mount them?

Smaller battery, you build a tray w mounts on side of it.

Dam, original size battery arrived today... is there an alternative location?

Think you can move coils to the side and use space used for Kokusans for Ignitech, fab a new bracket.
Mine was McYvered on top of battery... :-[ About to relocate it.
