Hello:

It came to my attention not to long ago that the 2006 S4R Red with Black Stripe was a USA Limited Edition color scheme.  Bought my S4R completely unaware that I was going to become the owner of such a special bike  [cheeky]..We just got back from MotoGP race in California and we only saw 1 S4R Red with Black stripe at Ducati Island....Started to think wow, I'm special (insert my Husband saying yes you are dear, everytime you ride that short bus  [laugh])..Anyway....Wanted to find out How Many of these Limited Editions are out there, and their Special Owners   [laugh] [moto]

So, who are, and where are we? I'll start off.

Have added a few mods:
Moonstrack Short Mirrors
Speedy Moto Pressure Plate & Cover
Red Wheel Stripes & Tri-Color Marchesini name stickers
CF Wind Screen, CF Exhaust Heat Shields
Painted DUCATI Red on engine case
Removed/Relocated ugly black bands on right side of bike..working on the left side

Future mod to come:
Zard Full Exhust CF System
Carbon World CF no chop tail (any one want to sell me theirs  ;D)
Different front and rear blinkers maybe rizomas..not sure yet...
custom painting front fender red with CF showing through to match black striping

they are nice looking bikes, I miss my 06 S4R in that color combo sometimes, its sharp and nothing else looks like it.

Please tell me where you purchased your CF tail piece..it is a Carbon World no tail chop right?  and what aftermarket blinkers did you go with?

I do know  of another...I ran into a guy at Washington Cycle Works a few months ago when I was dropping off my Hubbys race bike to get dyno'd ...said he bought it used, maybe that was you?

Anyway, still would like to confirm the only 100 fact...not saying isn't true just hadn't heard that until now...Want to get a little number plate for my bike made up like the ones on the '08 tri-colour  [cheeky]

Wow   :o we are special only 100!!  I am seriously going to look into having a stator cover plate made like the numbered tri colours....is there any way to tell which number we have??

Just to let the other 99 Red/Black 2006 S4R owners who ever you all are (if you are out there reading this   [laugh] )  I just emailed Ducati North America.  I asked them how to identify which of the 100 we have I'm sure it must be in the VIN numbers  I noticed the my VIN starts ZDM1RB5T...I am completely guessing but  wondering if the DM means Ducati Monster?  the 1 might be 1 of 100 ?  the RB meaning  Red Black  and the 5 could be  5 of 100 (that is if the 1 is not...)?  I am probably wrong on most if not all of that, but take a look at your VINs...are they similar?

Either way, I will post any response I get From Ducati North America.  Also asked them about helping with Stator covers..why not...If not I will be buying a new stator Cover & looking to find someone who is capable of engraving it  something like this ..my photoshop skills are not the best  ;D

QWAK.....like any special production vehicles (I have owned 3 SVT Lightnings and 4 SVT Cobra's from Ford)  They all have specific build numbers and dates.  Not completely sure on how Ducati does theirs..if they even do it at all...though based on the vin that could tell the build date.  If looking at the VIN, normally the build numbers on the bikes will be the last 5 or 6 numbers.  ZDM1RB5T is tha same as mine.  Normally these will specify place built, type of bike, engine size ect.

Thats pretty funny...I really wanted the S4RS Pearl WHite Red Stripe...but right next to it was the Red and Black Stripe '06 and got a really good deal on it that I just couldn't justify the additional funds...even though I kept thinking afterwards I should have spent the money...Now knowing I have 1 of 100 bikes I think I got a really Great deal  [laugh]

The guy at WCW I meet had the Carbon World no chop tail section I want..said previous owner put it on...if you did that than it could have been yours..if not its out there somewhere...

Do you come all the way from South Jersey to Rons (WCW)..that is a haul..

I did..almost put him on the list until I noticed that it is a S2R1000...not sure if he custom painted, or just got an S4R tank...S2Rs only came in Red/white, Black/White and the Grey/Black.. that is what I have read.

oohh S4R. Well its on a difference of 4 valves total. same thing!

if it were the same thing than they would just have all S2Rs or just S4Rs..they wouldn't have made 2 different models... [moto] I don't really care...I was just looking for the final edition 100 S4R owners..and the BOMb isn't one...its pretty wicked looking and is definitely 1 of a kind  ;D  [thumbsup]

Love the Blue with White Stripe   [thumbsup] ...would have preferred it over my Red with Black stripe...even told the hubby he could have mine and I'll get a used blue/white...but he has his heart set on the Tri colour  [bang]

Yeah I have been known to ride up to Ron's. I got my boots there, my gloves and a ton of other stuff....He dialed in the suspension on my Rs too.

Well, I suppose we are on our own in finding out who has what #.  Here is the response I received from Ducati NA.

Dear Mr. .............,
Thank you for contacting Ducati North America.
We are happy to learn that you are a proud owner of an S4R.  Though the 2006 S4R in Red with Black was imported in limited quantities, it is not a limited edition model with a numbered plaque.  Ducati North America and Ducati Motor Holding are unable to verify the specific numbers that were imported as Ducati Corporate Policy does not allow for release of production numbers for models that are not a limited edition with a numbered plaque.  You may organize something independently with other owners, but unfortunately we are unable to assist in any kind of official documentation.


At least they got back in touch with us.  On another note, since you came up with the idea QWAK, you can be number 1 and I'll be number 2 of 100.  Just kidding, but I know a friend of the guy who machines the aftermarket billet alternator covers for our bikes.  I will se what we can come up with.  How does that sound?

Hahaha.. [laugh] [laugh] I was just going to post the same response I just received from Ducati North America...very funny...

I like your Idea...we can give out the numbers...unless we can come up with something else...Let me know what your friend of friend  says...maybe see what the cost to do 100 would be maybe that will help find the others...I will post on a few other forums seeing if I can find them, Might even post on Ebay..like an ad..not selling anything just put something out there under Ducati S4R and see if they materialize...

Look forward to hearing what the aftermarket guys says..

Well thier own press release stated "Just released from Bologna the "final edition" of the 2006 S4R is available now in a limited production of 100 bikes  for the US. There is a single color option of Red/Black."   Sounds like they broke thier own Co. policy already. ???

Keep me in the loop if you do plates...

The question that I have is if Ducati does a regular number of "limited" run color schemes to the US market every year. Mine is also a limited number color scheme for the year.

Curious.

Let me know if you get a price. Although I don't have the same scheme, I've been trying to find someone who can make one for my Monster and that's just what I've been looking for!

Interesting side-note:

The 100 2006 S4R Monsters were the LAST Monsters in North-America to get steel fuel tanks!

Hello everyone,
I also have 2006 s4r red with black stripe. I live in Las Vegas, Nv. I read something similar to this post about a year ago on another forum, I posted my comments with questions no one ever replied. This is pretty cool,  [thumbsup] When I bought mine in January 2008 brand new, I was out the door at less than $10,000.00 thought that was a smokin deal considering I was originally looking at a $15,000.00 s4rs. I love this bike, people comment on the color scheme all the time. The red pops.
I would post pics, I think people will appreciate what I've done to it, but, I'm not sure how? :)

Thanks Baller30, I have thought about that, red rings around wheels. I haven't been able to figure out how wide, I know they have different widths. I still have a few things to add, funds are short. I'll have to wait.
