Title: Sargent Seat Fitment
Post by: diamonddog-2 on March 30, 2021, 07:41:11 AM
Does anyone know if a Sargent seat from a 2001 M750 will fit a 2001 M900?

Thank you!

99% sure it will fit, but the manufacturer should list the models their seat fits.

Thank you guys.   I did call Sargent and it'll fit all earlier M bikes.  Sweeeeeet.  Hopefully,  this virtually new seat will solve my sore butt issue.  "all day riding comfort"?  We'll see.  For $75 I'll risk it.  I had purchased an older Corbin from a member here. It WAS a little better than stock but not enough.  I had also tried a gel insert with a touch more foam padding on the stock seat. It was just as uncomfortable as OEM.

Yes.

+1.
The difference between  <1999 and 2000> models is the tank cut out and the seat latch. The shape at the front of the seat is slightly different to accommodate the change in tank shape. The earlier seat latch grabs a bracket and the later one a pin/post. Your bike and the seat are 2000 onwards so you should be safe.

Sargent seats are more comfortable for sure.

I really like the foam Sargent uses. I had one of their seats on my SV650 and loved it. I tried one on my Monster but unfortunately didn't like it. It must have been shaped a little differently because it put a weird pressure on the bottom of my thighs. I hope you like yours though! If not, I recommend trying Top Sellerie. It's the 4th seat I've tried on my Monster and absolutely love it.

Thank you everyone for the information.  I'm hopeful that between the Sargent seat and the new [to me] Gecko rearsets, I'll have hit my riding position sweet spot

I've had both a corbin and a sargent for my 01 900 and the sargent is a million times more comfortable for me.

I've tried Corbins on a couple of different bikes and still can't figure out why they're so popular. They're as hard as a rock and ruin the ride quality because there's no give in the foam to help absorb any bumps or vibrations that make it passed the suspension.

I've had 2 Corbin seats now, 1 used Corbin on the duc and a brand new Corbin on my old BMW K100RS.  The new Corbin was no better than the original seat.  After a few seasons, I sent it back to Corbin so they could inspect it. They put new padding on it [for what I recall was a lot of $] and sent it back.  It was just as uncomfortable. Go figure. The one redeeming feature was the waaay too expensive backrest that I got for it. Passengers really liked it. It went on and came off really easily too.
