Title: Can somebody here clarify HD's past relationship with Ducati

Somehow I got it in my head that HD used to own Ducati. Wikipedia does not confirm this, and I'm not sure how that thought wound up in my head. I know HD had weird small bikes made by Ducati in the AMF era. Anyone?

HD wanted to buy Ducati back in 2017 when they were supposedly going up for sale.

The only other link I'm aware of is the AMF/Cagiva/Ducati relationship. Not that I'm a historian by any means.

They never owned Ducati.  They did own MV for a short period.

Aermacchi did the small bikes for HD in the sixties.
