BTW, the coup occurred before you guys could give me your opinions on my next bike :D :D

To minimize the hazing, I plan to get it AND keep the monster!
My wife was asking what the heck I'd do with two motorcycles. Meanwhile, I have for years been asking her why she needs so many pairs of black shoes that look essentially the same.
;:| Emelda has nothing on her.

whatever. I want a cruiser... but I need a garage first...

Yeah, I know it is. The thing is I sat on a Sportster and my first thought was how comfortable it is! No hiking the leg over the seat, no cramping wrists, and no eternal push up. I'm thinking of commuting on the bike again and I thought something like that would be ideal.
I actually haven't ridden a cruiser before. My wife brought that up and asked if I could test drive it first. But you know how that goes! Tell 'em Mac.
BTW, Teddy, how are you a full member with three stars already? Who'd you pay off?

There is space in my garage now that the golf sleeps on the driveway.

South Seas in Waipahu will let you take one out for a test ride. They told me that the only bikes they don't offer tests on are the sport bikes. Let me know when you want to take a look at one and we will go down there together.

they're comfy as all hell! it's just a matter of getting used to the weight... and throttle... and mushy suspension... and underbraking...
seriously though. as long as you respect that it's a completely different goal, you'll be fine. wt: and, in the words of my MSF instructor, "you look good." :)
oh, and no payoffs... you just need 91 more posts...
ok, so I've been on a leetle longer than y'all. not much, though...
lol My MSF instructor down here ran in to (literally) my next door neighbor. Pretty ironic when you consider that the instructor was riding his motorcycle at the time and was on his way to work, at the regional safety office on PH. wt:

<was wondering if anyone remembered the old laundry commercial>
okay, so back on track . . . .
who here has ridden/owned a cruiser? If so, which one?
I always said that if I got a cruiser it would be a Yamaha Warrior. But then I lifted one off its side stand. I guess 1100 is about as big as I'd lke to go.
I had an old Kawi cruiser as my first bike. It was groovy. I'd have another cruiser if I had the money/space/etc.
But a Harley? Really? [cheeky]

rode a... early 2000ish honda shadow 600. not bad... it was customed out, too. I helped fit the HD risers on that bad boy ;D it's light enough, since it's a "small" cruiser.
2008 sportster 1200, never rode the carby, so I'm not sure how the FI makes a difference, but the throttle was weird, it seemed loose, but once you get it to crack open, she just pulls you along. gotta love super low end torque. never gained any confidence in the suspension/brakes, so braking early and with both F/R is very important.
with any luck, I'm gonna get to throw a leg over a VMax this weekend :e:v :e:v :e:v :e:v THAT'S the cruiser for me, baby!

Funny you should mention that. I told Shawn I was looking at that Nightster and asked him if he had anything similar/cheaper. He said that only thing would be the V-Max!
Even by today's standards that's a pretty mean looking bike. It's hard to believe it's been around this long without any major changes.
it never needed any.
just like the monster.
got it up off the kickstand, very easy, comfy std. ergos, too. and real brakes! all that's left is to convince charlie to let me take it down the street... I'm sure he'd be more than happy to trade bikes... whenever it is I get mine back...
I'm already trying to talk him into fitting drag bars :e:v he will crack.
V-Max! V-Max! V-Max!
Yea, those things have HOOLIGAN written all over them

You're not thinking about trading the Monster are you?
Teddy are you serious? When did a V-Max come into the equation, especially after all we've been hearing about the girl's new jugs . . . .
(Explain the double entendre to Ben!) :o
No no no... his buddy ( i think) has a V-Max, and with the new upgrades, that gives him more bargaining power for a quick ride swap.
Sorry, Teddy, I wanted to let the fear grow in them, but I just couldn't do it.
jebus tristos is correct...
no need for the widesrpead panic! wt:

Does that mean yer coming out with us this morn?
Yea, I was thinking about it...
11:09 am -
Made up your mind yet? [cheeky]
Nah, still waffling... ;)
Actually, Alex and I are trying to decide what to do with the extra bedroom. Not sure if we should use it for storage (thus freeing up the garage for both cars), turn it into a home office/guest bedroom or drop some money and have a home gym...
Shrine to Tristianity?
Uhm... That would seem a little odd me thinks. Don't want anyone to get the idea that I am infatuated with some navy linguist... [cheeky]
I didn't create Tristianity, Heyzoos Tristos created me.

What's up? Something went south?
epoxy fix... didn't...
Did you get a response back from Will yet? Any idea on when you can get the ball in motion?
nope, but it's early. I don't think he whores on the board like we do...
best case, I can go in tuesday and place an order.

heh. no need for that.
I have thought about it while in some whisky, and I'm fine w/it.
I just kind of want to get it over w/.
Yea, I know. I was just inserting a few bits of senseless violence for the sheer principle of the matter. This thread is too pc. ;)
I could lend myself to some discussion about the ruckus being brought if it were the dealership's fault.
which it isn't, so...
Yea, I hear you. I would be raising hell as well if that were the case. But Will did point it out to you prior, so... Just sucks that the dice rolled this way after you waited so long for it.
yup.
so, after taking a spin on ye ole'maxy, I have these first impressions:
very good suspension/brakes... 4 piston nissins, IIRC. considering the bulk of it, she could scrub off the speed like no harley I've ridden, and w/o the front end diving on me.
ergos were nice, very standard seating pos'n, mid-sets, clutch pull was quite heavy (vs. stock coffins or the goldlines/evo slave I got now)
you have to kind of wrestle her on initial turn-in, but otherwise corners well. hasty throttle on exits lends to a squirrely front end, so I learned quick not to do so.
straight line... wowee was that ever fun. it certainly didn't feel crotch rocket quick, but the sensation of acceleration on that bike reminded me of when you see the Enterprise jump to warp speed. like the bike sucks you in and stretches you out, if that makes any sense.
it needs louder pipes and some drag bars. [evil] but I'd definitely have one as my cruiser bike.
oh, and charlie really liked the duc. ;D
Mmmmmmm beer.
*sigh* I could use a drink.
wait! I've got bitburger! hooray leftovers!
lol I still have a few pipelines that I fear will not last the afternoon.
jebus tristos bestowed some pipeline upon me, I'm trying to make it last...
I know. The few that I have left are the remnants from the case I bought before you guys came over that day and worked over my pipe.
So how wrong did that sound? ;)
I don't see anything wrong w/it
[roll]
...wait for it....
