Title: Thanks for all the help, have reached 29902 miles!
Post by: Qomomoko on March 31, 2022, 05:40:44 PM
Guys,

Thanks for all the advice and help.
Without a forum, I would have parted ways from my Ducati long time ago.
Have learned plenty and has also shaped my person.

This is best shape she has been and plenty to learn.  [beer]

Below are some pics

At same time.... [coffee] she is idling irregularly.

Just replaced the spark plugs, oil and coolant.
The old top spark plug was a little dark and had soot.

I will be looking at how to adjust the idling and to see if that is my problem.

Occasionally, a tune done by a competent tech can save time and money in the long run.

When was the last time the valves were adjusted to optimum, as opposed to just being checked for being in tolerance? When was the last time the throttle bodies were adjusted using an EGA?

I'm not saying to just run down to the local dealer and pay big money for a tech to check the valves, and turn the bleed screws indiscriminately, but if you have a tech that will take the time to do it right it could very well be money well spent.

Congrats on almost 30K!

At 27k miles a shop whose owner also races check my Valve clearance, change timing belt.
Unsure what else he did.
Maybe I will go to his shop and see what he says.
Its a way off, 40 min but I prefer  him over other closer shops.

I'll do that within the next week ;)

Title: ducati tech vs general moto tech?
Post by: Qomomoko on April 01, 2022, 04:59:38 PM
My jeep I prefer to take to a jeep shop. Even though jeeps are as simple cars as they come.
Like my moto, Y also do most but not all the work my self.

With the Ducati, I think it might be even more important to keep it at a shop that has more ducatis than other motos.
You guys agree with above or a general good mechanic should be ok??

I think a Ducati specialist who is crazy about them is best.

Agree, you want a Ducati specialist.

Title: I thought he was a full ducati mechanic lol... (RANT)
Post by: Qomomoko on July 02, 2022, 05:59:16 AM
hey guys,

So I took my ducati to a shop that does track days and has Yamahas and Ducatis.
The adjusted the throttle stop, raised it to max without compromising the throttle possibly being pulled when turning.
It helped but still acting not right. So then he let me use his tools to undo the 1/2 turn CCW on the air bleeds (both).
It had been eating too much gas.
Now it acts better.
I asked him what about the metathesis computer check. He said his experience is that other problems are the issue.
He suggest we replace the fuel pump, and checking the valve clearance (which he did at 27 miles and said they were good)

I dont know.

The bike does not turn off any more but when it gets hot (210-220 plus F) it idles unsteady.

The real point is if he does not have the Ducati Check gadget, I would not have gone there.
I guess he used to have the computer check gadget.
It was $60, but I was wiling do dish out $200 lol

Can he reset TPS?
Does he have an exhaust gas analyzer?
Can he check fuel pressure?

If no all above, it’s just guesswork…

I agree. You would change your filter before the pump and the fuel regulator before the pump once tested.

Thanks,

Will continue to look for a new local mechanic/ shop that knows what to do and does it.
I also ordered the LT Snyder and Haynes Monster manual to inform my self better.

Title: Teka Soft Ware with Enginetech Prix Corporation, wish me luck!!
Post by: Qomomoko on July 05, 2022, 08:01:55 AM
Dropped her off,
They use Teka Software; I am not familiar with it.
They can reset TPS, forgot to ask about analyzing exhaust lol
Hope it is a simple usual throttle bodies set up under $200!
Should be ready by tomorrow.
