Title: DSS steel swingarm insert questions
Post by: tbyte on April 24, 2023, 11:55:25 AM
A livery cab opted to turn left into my right footpeg.  It did not knock me over so I did not stop.   A quarter mile later my footpeg fell off.  So along with the rearset it was a good time for overdue maintenance (mudder replacement, Heim joint replacement, rear tire rim leak and brakes).
But have hit a couple snags:  1.Two of the mudder rivnuts bad.  Anyone have luck installing without the tool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heLMQYwE1_o&t=189sl (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heLMQYwE1_o&t=189sl)?  2.  Could not get the threaded bolt that attachs swingarm to Heim joint to move.  Tried penetrating oil, tried heat, tried pressing out and tried hammering.    Are the two attachment holes in swingarm threaded too?  My only idea is to have at it with the angle grinder and drill out any itty bits.  Is there a better way?  Ducati diagram lists a bushing which I do not have.  Is there a generic source?
BTW, had an older rearset welded.  It looks pretty good but we shall see.

I never tried that method on the riv nut,but it should work, maybe better than the tool.  Let us know.

Try an impact gun on the Heim Joint bolts. Next step would be cutting the nuts off.

I am not clear on your last question.
