Title: The S2R1000 Post by: Blackout on May 17, 2024, 08:00:03 AM Well, I sold my 800 last year and have been pining for another one. Found one local for only about $5K, it's an 07 with about 16K on it. Stock pipes and in need of a rear shock. I've read some reviews but thought I would put it to the Monster braintrust. Should I pull the trigger on this bike?

With that mileage it has had periods with no/little use and no/little TLC. Things will happen. "Things" cost money. Suddenly 5K isn't cheap any longer. It might still be a sensible purchase though. Fork rebuild. Brake pads. Fluids all around. New/used shock. Full (!) service. Gaskets. O-rings. Seals. Tires (?). Wiring dry/brittle? Chain? Even if you're super lucky and can skip half of this, it's still quite a lot more than 5. Worth it? Maybe :) Pay 3 and spend 2-3. Title: Re: The S2R1000 Post by: Blackout on May 17, 2024, 09:24:28 AM Has full service records. This guy has only had it about 9 months. Starts right up. He said he's changed all the fluids, they look good. Brand new tires and I think chain. New belts as well. It will need an aftermarket exhaust and likely a rear shock.
Title: Re: The S2R1000 Post by: stopintime on May 17, 2024, 01:01:36 PM Ok - that's a bit better, but I'd still advice to prepare for more repairs. Surprises are always negative for the ownership experience.

I know that you love your, but I'd core a stock exhaust before I put one of those on...just sayin' [evil] :-*Title: Re: The S2R1000 Post by: herm on May 19, 2024, 12:58:34 PM I know that you love your, but I'd core a stock exhaust before I put one of those on...just sayin' [evil] :-* I did that for the first year I had the bike, sort of. Got rid of the shotgun pipes and ran it with the udder. WAY too loud. Felt like I had a concussion after a ride. Felt like I had a concussion after a ride. Way different running an udder, as opposed to a QuatD. I can sympathize.I just don't like the sound of the QuatD, or D&D cans. Give me Termi's, Ducati Performance, or Akrapovic. To Blackout...Look in to Akrapovic. Seems they might have something. Title: Re: The S2R1000 Post by: koko64 on May 20, 2024, 04:10:07 AM Delkevic (UK) make traditional oval style mufflers. They have a deep note and not too loud. Well made, light and competitive prices. Title: Re: The S2R1000 Post by: herm on May 20, 2024, 04:24:28 AM If I were doing it again today, I would go with a high mount with mufflers on both sides, and which deleted the udder completely. Something like the link below.

What's another grand? ;D No way. I just spent what will probably be an obscene amount of money to get my xbox repaired. In fact, I was actually going to put the oem system back on instead. But when I took the udder out of hibernation, I found a big friggin crack in the thing?? My next step is going to be a bike with a riding position more tailored to my advancing age. :-\ Title: Re: The S2R1000 Post by: ducpainter on May 20, 2024, 03:34:14 PM No way. Those sills are for dual swingarm. Blackout's bike is single side. They do have a good selection for the SR2. https://www.daniele-moto.de/en/exhaust-systems/ducati.html?isorc=141 |
