Title: Question about jumper cables
Post by: Mercm3 on June 03, 2025, 05:57:10 PM
If I wire a 10awg SAE cable with a 30 AMP fuse directly to battery would that be safe and allow enough juice to jump my 2018 1200s off 1 of those jump starter boxes? We've used them for cars and they great. Just wanted to have that ability on the bike also.

Why a 30 amp fuse?  When you say jump starter box, are you talking about one of these?  https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GB70-UltraSafe-Lithium-Gasoline/dp/B016UG6PWE/ref=asc_df_B016UG6PWE?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80058245652825&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583657821986950&psc=1

If so, use it the way it is.

You also should move this to Tech.

Ahhh sorry about that, thanks for moving it. My issue is no way to get those clamps to battery terminals. I was thinking of just having a cable directly connected to battery and covered but I thought might be dangerous without a fuse? Or am I totally getting all this wrong?

Oh, you mean something like leads for a battery tender or heated clothing?  Yes, a fuse of the proper amperage for whatever you are powering.
