Hi All,
Been slowly working on a resto-mod 900 for a few years and now hit a minor issue.
My mk1 900 from 1994 has 916 forks fitted by the regular method of boring the top yoke and shimming the bottom one so that the legs fit in securely. The additional length of the SBK forks have been taken care of by some risers and Renthal FatBars.
Now for my problem - when I fitted the Monster wheels with the 916 size bearings I was disappointed to realise that the mk1 Monster hub has a different layout to the 916 wheel which is not what I'd been expecting. Now in theory I could address this with various shims / spacers etc but I have no way of making, or getting these made myself any more so another wheel makes more sense.
What have others done in the past? I assume fitted a 916 wheel or if they are using a Monster one its been from a later model which has the same wheel as the 916 era of Ducati's. Before I spend any more money on "new" 3 or 5 spoke wheels I wanted to see if anyone else had come up against this? Maybe the mk1 Monster wheel is like an 888 type who knows...
All help gratefully received - Ben
I think the easiest way is a 916 wheel and axle.
Would the post '99 M900ie/98900SSie wheel with big axel do the job?
Is the problem the spacers or disc offset? Must be axel spacers.
I started looking in the search function for historical solutions as this would have been resolved back in the day.
