With a heavy heart I have to say for the first time in many years I do not own a Monster..........
This spring I took out my beautiful SR4. I wanted to add fresh gas and get ready for the Distinguished Gentleman ride the next day. The weather was perfect! I filled it up and I started to ride home. It was such a good afternoon that I decided to keep riding. After a while it was time to head home. All of a sudden, there was a blip in the power. I looked down at the cluster and all looked good. And then it it wasn't, cluster went blank, dead. I still had power. Look at the rearview mirror and I saw white smoke. The math wasn't adding up. I pull over and immediately smell the burning plastic. Melting plastic is dripping from under the seat. At this point I felt that all was okay. I stopped in front of a friend's house. All his cars were there. Unfortunately, no one was home. None of the neighbors were home. All I could do was call 911 and watch.

Holy shit.
Glad you're ok & sorry about the bike! Eeek!
To see an S4R, which I see as a rare bike already to smoke up by itself kills me but at least you are ok. Has the frame bee looked at? I'm wondering if the frame can e rebuilt along with the engine. IS the dash semi intact like the 24C16 chip that holds the eeprom and key codes. If the chip itself is still in one piece, you might still be able to get the codes, reprogram some t5 chips and reflash a "new" dash with the old stuff.
:o :o :o
Glad you're ok.
Any idea why this happened?
WOW! Sorry about the bike. Glad you are OK.
Insured?

I wouldn't trust the frame after that.... Engine either. Just not worth the risk, IMO.
Oh, man, that's just a tragedy. Sorry it happened.
That picture of it in flames makes me want to throw up. I can't imagine how it feels. Keep a piece of it, carry something forward, Something good will come your way next...

There was nothing left! The carbon fiber turned back into sheets of fabric, anything aluminum melted, and I would not trust that frame. After the insurance arson investigation, they took everything, even the pile of ash.
One of the fireman and I had to pry the license plate out of the asphalt. The asphalt melted and the license plate sank into the asphalt.
I feel really bad for you. Not even a bit left, but that is the way I've seen most go anyhow. If you are looking I hope you find another one!
