Title: Monstrack Mirrors
Post by: WestonWith2 on July 28, 2008, 02:50:29 PM
So I've finally decided on some mirrors to replace the stocks... I really like the look of the Monstrack mirrors- http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/MIR02/Bars-Mirrors/MIR02.html

I just don't know whether I should get the short or long. I don't want the mirrors to be so short that they are not usable, but at the same time I don't want them sticking out way past the bar ends either.

Anyone have a pair of these or know how long these are?

thanks
Weston

I'm curious about this as well. I just put my stock mirrors back on after riding around with Rizoma Class mirrors for a while. The Rizoma's certainly looked cool but I couldn't see anything directly behind me. The Monstrack's look like they may do the trick but I can't find any information on their length.

I had the x-long version on. They are exactly the same width as stock mirrors on S*R bikes. The two shorter versions will be..... yes, shorter/more narrow. They look super-cool and are very well built. My decision to sell them off was based on my need for convex glass.

As with any mirrors - you will always have to choose between seeing straight backwards OR to the side. You can't have it both ways. I like to see what's behind me, others prefer the side view.

My solution was this http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=7427.0
Don't look very cool, but they are highly functional.

You guys are in luck, just got mine in the mail today, Ill put them on  and take pics. .BRB

Like a said, i just put them on like a few min, ago. they went on easy and look a hell of a lot better than the stockers. They seem to be big enough to be functional.

These are the long ones.

ok here they are

Great timing Ravn! Those look pretty good too and I think I'm going with the long as well  [beer]. StopinTime - thanks for the input. I'll keep your solution in mind if these mirrors don't work out.

Cheers fellas

I have the short Monstrack mirrors, I reviewed them here (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=1822.0).

They work well for me, but I am narrow, and wouldn't expect them to work for most people.

Kevin at Monstrack is super nice and will let you try out different sizes if you like. [thumbsup]

Oops... I guess I should have done a search. Nice review Ms. Now I am torn. Looks like the short mirrors are just about an inch shy of reaching the bar ends, and the long ones just go past it. You have the same bike I do Ms. and those mirrors look pretty sweet.

Now I may go with the short  ;D

If anyone has pictures of the short version and an opinion (like can you see anything?) please post!  :)

Yes, thanks for the info guys. The pics are a great help, Ravn. I may have to go with the X-long ones since I'm not as "narrow" as I'd like to be.  ;D

I have an extra set of mirrors that came with my bike, the previous owner said he tried them and did not care for them. I am 99.99% sure that they are the black Monstrack mirrors. If anyone is interested, make me an offer  ;D

Thanks for the pics - it looks great. Better that it's not real - then blown up and spit out parts aren't irreplaceable number matching items anyway..I've got a Dart GTS (340) that has spit out more than a couple weak links....... The 440 sounds like fun! I'd say you've got the curves and the straights handled!

Ravn, I was just about to ask to see pics of that car, glad I scrolled down.  VERY NICE!  I can just imagine the junk that it talks to the monster in the garage when no one is around.

thanks guys, Ive had the cuda almost 10 years now. Ive been a mopar guy forever, and just recently got myself into bikes, specifically Ducatis. They look pretty sitting in the garage next to each other.

Yeah the fact that its a "clone" or not a real AAR makes it easier to drive. I can drive it like its stolen and not cry when I throw a rod or something. just build a new motor and put it back together. No sweat.

Hey Ravn. It's been awhile since I checked this thread and since then I've ordered the mirrors from monsterparts. Hopefully someone else will be interested in purchasing your mirrors.

Thanks for the offer though  [beer]
