The guys who did "Long way Round" are showing a 2 hour version of the new series in theaters tomorrow night.
I went to Fandango.com, and got myself a ticket for the 7:30 show at the Regal Union Square. (14th/B'way - entrance closer to 13th, BTW).
There are a bunch of other theaters in the city showing it, even though it's a nationwide 450 theater limited release.
Damn that looks like a great movie i wish a theater near me was playing it >:(
Dammit, leaving for camping thursday night. no can do.
The ticket is $10 + the Fandango extortion charge makes it $12.
Still cheaper than the $20 or so the full 6-10 hour DVD will be. Also, since I've read that this series isn't as good as Long Way Round, I want to see if I SHOULD buy the DVD of this one.
I still have the US limited 6 part DVD of LWR - there's a 10-part version out there somewhere!

Oh...
[bang]
I have both series on DVD if anyone is interested. And yes, Long Way Down was not as good as Round.
I wanted to pregnant dog slap Ewan's wife.

Ouch! Now I NEED to see this!! LOL!!
First, some comments about the crowd...
It seems I forgot my helmet [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]... Of the 200 or so people in the theater, about 40 of them had helmets with them. Girls in skirts with helmet, couples in work attire with helmets. I know almost every place you can park a bike in and around Union Square, and there ain't NO WAY there could be 30 bikes or scooters in the area.
I guess it was the moto equivalent of wearing a Jeter shirt to a Yankees game.
OK - then there were the 2 dozen trend following hipsters who had to get in on this.
Then there were the clusters of kids who use the words "Brah," "Dude" and "Like" WAY too many times per sentence.
Now the movie-
In all seriousness, I will be buying the DVD this weekend. It was effectively a 2 hour info-mercial to buy the DVD. It was actually really nice watching a movie in a theater and not having to sit through 20 minutes of previews - screen went dark - LWD started.
The focus of the movie was on the trip. No prep, only about 8 minutes of Eve McGregor on screen (I really wanna see what IG is on about [evil]) and the entire thing felt rushed. Really, really rushed.
I'm glad I went, but it felt weird to watch it in public. I'm so used to watching the LWR DVD's in private that to see the Elixir films splash, the stupid LWR song and the "Diary Cam" shots with other people was disconcerting.
The one thing I did notice from LWR is how much better, in general, they are as riders from the 2004 trip.
It was worth my $12.
Thanks for reading, have a great night!
tommy,
it wasn't any particular event I was referring to. Just that if she wanted to learn to ride, she had plenty of opportunities to do it before they decided to do this trip. I preferred when it was just Charlie and Ewan, and watching their relationship. Eve just seemed like a drag/ party pooper.

Oh, I get 'ya. Come to think about it, I'd want to ___ ____ her as well. Talk about an anchor!!!
I say that because I had seen some clips on YouTube of the series a few weeks ago and they showed just how "green" she was as a rider.
