Title: When is the next ride?
Post by: SaltLick on August 01, 2008, 09:56:48 PM
Can someone please setup a time and place for the next ride.  Wheres Krolik?  I aint going to be the one to set it up, cause i aint the leader at best im usually at the back of the pack, or one in front of the tail guy.  And my routes suck. Krolick usually has the good plan, its August and i bet if we setup a time a couple of weeks in advance we could get a pretty good turn out.

I was thinking of getting a ride together for Estacada/Detroit Lake on the 16th.

Figuring on leaving ~10AM.  Likely from the Tigard area . . .

Ya, ya, ya . . . details to follow.

Gotta get my girl running consistently - man's gotta have his priorities.

Ava "Sometimes I think you love that thing more than me."
Me "Sometimes?  you should all the time."
Wifezilla "Not funny.  You #&)$&)!"

Whoopsie  [moto]

Hmm... a Detroit Lake run on the 16th... Dare I curse this ride, too?  [evil]

We'll see what I have going on that weekend.

Heh. If you have an unbreakable mental determination to get to Detroit, just slab down to Salem and go east on Highway 22. This also opens up possibilities for stopping at the Gingerbread House along the way. They put mayonnaise on their hamburgers. IT'S make the beast with two backsING AWESOME. And the shakes are pretty good. You can borrow the family boat when you get there, it's on the Breitenbush side of town @ DL Marina. Then again, if your guys' prerogative is a metric shit ton of twisties, go your silly Portlander route, but don't taint up Salem's lake and GTFO quickly. :P

Bendy, you can have your little gingerbread man or whatever the nuts your dreaming about. We are not slabbers, "we are cafe racers" so we'll be twistie'n the silly Portlander route and quite possibly violating your taint once we arrive  [laugh]  You'd like that no?  ;D

In several weeks that's an absolute yes. :D But if you wanted to cafe race up to this island, it'd involve a long ferry ride, and there's nothing racey about that. [puke]

I'd love to go but I can't make this one, I'm dog sitting for some friends and there's the Soap Box Derby at Mt Tabor on Saturday, starts about the time your leaving.

Ride safe, stay hydrated all y'all who ride in the heat.

Tomorrow is going to be effin' hot... some friends of mine are going creekwalking back into Oneonta Falls, out in the Gorge.  The creek runs through this deep, narrow canyon, nicely shaded, and the water's plenty cold.  :)  Methinks I'm gonna go join them in an effort to avoid the heat.

It's either that or I'm riding to the coast (which is supposed to be something like 70 degrees).

Ride safe and have fun!  [thumbsup]

Are you trying to say Asshole bucko?  :P

I had a guy at Plan B last night come up to me and talk to me when I arrived.  Wanted to talk about the bike . . . called me "cowboy" . . .

Not sure why but it irritated me.

Oh, I've been through Detroit numerous times, just never made it there on the motorcycle.

As far as the weather:
Estacada is currently 102.  Forecast is for tomorrow to hit 98.
Detroit is currently 96.  Forecast for tomorrow is also 98.
(from weather.com & the Nat'l Weather Service's Portland office)

Too effin hot.  :P

I've been up hiking near Mt. Hood and camping out in the mountains when it gets this hot... the problem is the east wind, so you get scorched regardless.  That hot air is comin' from the east side of the Cascades, so up there on the fringe of the mtns is gonna be nearly as hot as the valley.

Two escapes for those without A/C: find cool running water, or head for the coast (which has what?  LOTS of 55 degree water).  [thumbsup]  Mike should be livin' it up this weekend!

Nah, it's just too bloody hot for my taste, and I was typing from work... too much accumulated OT (without pay) makes Dan cranky.

Hey Jack Ryan Bauer, how you doing?

Ride with you tomorrow?  your 848 + my 998 = 1848 x hooligan factor.   [evil]  (lol)

I've had a shitty week and crummy Friday/Saturday, so I am looking forward to riding tomorrow.

The Rs was in for it's 7500 periodic.  Next Tuesday would have been 2 weeks in the shop waiting for it to get done  :o.  Admittedly, Motocorsa were busy as hell, though, so I was 1/2 expecting to go into next week.  But, they finished it this afternoon about 4:00, so I picked her up & I'm happy.

It does feel funny, though.  Kind of "tight" and not as responsive as I remember, but perhaps its my 'magination.

So, how about meeting up at the gelato shop 23rd and Kearney?  I'll be there at 10:00 AM and hang out till a quorum of hooligans accumulates.  Better to go early & beat the heat.

The Rs needs the cobwebs blown out, so i'll be ready to go.

Sorry for the late night post - hope you see it.

Manyana, muchachos.

Ha ha ha.

Yes.  No.

It was warm but noticably cooler than here.  A good deal of the ride is in forest/shade and we were rolling so it was very nice.

At lunch I filled my Camel Back with ice and wore it inside my coat.  I was quite cozy.

It wasn't until after we hiked Silver Falls - still not sure which idiot decided that was a good idea - that I was hot.  And then I just wasn't cooling down on the bike, in the gear, and at that point mostly direct sun.

Anyway you guys missed out.  :P

Great riding with you J.D.  [thumbsup]   Now I get to be all domestic and help select a table cloth... I may need a beer or two for that one.  [drink]  I liked the ride choice, it was a nice change up from the usual routes. You are right though, it would be nice to take a day off midweek and get a good ride in, when the traffic is much lighter. Oh well. We kept the rubber down, and the speeds up, what more could we ask for?!

Yup, it was a good day and a good ride.

There's some pretty good routes on the east side.

Appreciated the company.

Looking forward to the next ride.
