Title: Moto GP Replica Bikes -- No Motor
Post by: triangleforge on August 03, 2008, 03:44:25 PM
One of the owners of my favorite bicycle road racing sites, PezCyclingNews.com, is also a big MotoGP fan, as evidenced by the custom paint he's had done on a variety of Kuota carbon bikes:

More photos of the Casey Stoner tribute bike at:

Or the Hayden Repsol paint job at:

And this single shot of a Kuota in Rossi's livery:

Not as fast as the bikes that inspired them, maybe, but I'd throw a leg over any of them regardless!

Not a bike bike fan, but that's pretty cool!  [thumbsup]

I dig the wrap job on the bars of the Repsol bike.

I also love the idea of promoting Marlboro on your pedal bike.  [laugh]

What's the deal with the seat up so high? I mean, hell, it's ABOVE the bars...

Mostly euro-fashion, though typically a road race bike will have some drop from seat to bars -- mine would drop from 5 cm (measured down from a long carpenters level on the seat) in the winter when I was putzing around doing long base mileage to around 7-8 cm during race season. Just eyeballing it, I'd guess those bikes are in the 8-10 cm range, as is the one Armstrong's riding naked in the rain.  ???  A very big, radical drop in the 15 cm plus range looks really cool, but is hard to ride with a whole lot of power -- and you'll often notice that the bar tape on those bikes is dirty and worn on the bar tops but almost pristine down in the drops.
