Title: New Oberon Slave Cylinders and Levers
Post by: Sac Monster on August 05, 2008, 03:24:57 PM
What do you guys think? I don't have final pricing yet but expect the slave cylinders to be around $180 retail and the levers to be around $250 for the pair. So far the levers are only made for the radial levers; 848/1098/749/999/HM/S4RS

Levers and adjusters come in silver, black, blue, gold and red

the slaves look sweet, different than the others.  but the price of the levers makes them unattractive.

Yeah I told them that to come in over CRG and Pazzo would be tough. They definitely look good and Oberon products are always high quality but the price is still hard to get past. They are supposed to be sending us some sample levers so we will be able to get an up close look at them and compare them to the other levers out there.

What is the piston size on the slaves and how do they compare to the other popular brands?
Oh, and the price on those levers are steep!

Piston size was the first thing I asked too. They told me today that it was going to 30mm but they changed it to 29mm. They stated that in their testing when installed on a new clutch 30mm worked fine but on a worn hot clutch 30mm did not give the desired results and 29mm was much better. The difference in lever feel between the two was not noticeable so they went with the 29mm.

250 for a pair of levers isnt too bad. Give your dealer a call and ask how much the stock Brembos are.
its not a huge difference.
And those are much prettier

My question is why would anyone go to the dealer to get levers when you can go to CRG, Pazzo, or even ASV?

Im wonering why Oberon even bothered to make these.

innovation? none
style? not much
Price? no difference. And in some cases more expensive. you can get a nice set of ASV, CRG, or pazzos for a tad cheaper and they look 5x more unique. ASV also has a lifetime guarantee against breaking.
