Just mounted up a new set of Sil Motor low mount megaphones. I removed the clips and pulled the left side killer with just a pair of needle nose, but the right appears frozen. Tried fashioning a puller with wire hanger, ie hooks on end, push thru, let open up and catch ends, but it's in there enought that I can pull hard enough that the hooks collapse. Any trick I need to know? Thanks
A slide hammer would do the trick.

Was afraid someone would suggest that...guess you can't have too many tools ;)

You should be able to pick up an auto body dent puller with a hook type attachment pretty cheap.
Check harbor freight...a slide hammer is kinda like an anvil...pretty tough to break it. ;D
Thanks DP, already checked with them, it's about $20.
Rigged up something with a threaded rod, nuts, washers and a 6" piece of lead pipe, but no joy. Would spraying PB Blaster in there overnight hurt anything?

Can't imagine it would do anything worse than smoke a bit when it got hot.
Might..or might not help.

Funny, my right side megaphone dB killer was just as stuck.
I whacked at it (gently) with a mallet, whilst pulling with some hearty, hearty pliers.
I don't have any special tips though.
Good luck.
Hi guys!
Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I had the same problem today. Got my dB killers stuck in the exhaust of a friends bike while test fitting. We couldn't get them out with pliers, and tapping didn't help either. Because no slide hammer was to be found, we had to get creative and tried some 'reverse engineering' :)... We removed the exhaust and used a broom stick to tap 'm out from the inside. Presto, 2 loose dB killers!!
Cheers!!
that's what i have to do to take mine out.
LOL, what a surprise to see this up towards the top again.
That's what I ended up doing too, with a length of half inch copper pipe and mallet....i'll file that broom stick trick away tho. [beer]
