Title: Cycle Cat Replacement Parts (new stuff added) Post by: Some Dude on August 09, 2008, 01:27:54 PM I recently picked up a set of rearsets that were trashed. My plan is to fix them up and sell them to help support my habbit. The adjustable arms were fubar as well as the foot pegs. My plan is to build new arms, and make an adapter so that I can use LSL footpegs. I Built the arms today and thought I might share a pic or two and get a few opinions. Thanks for looking

Huh, huh, do ya? Not yet but after my LSL Foot pegs get here I will start working on them. Hopefully by next weekend. I'll post pics when I get something done. I'll post pics when I get something done. I know a few racers who are wondering what they are going to do now that they can't get replacement pegs. (myself included) If you look me up when you get some of these adapters made, I can probably hook you up with a few sales from these guys. I'm thinking of buying cheaper rearsets for a supersport, and adapting them for next year. But for the rest of this season, I've got to make mine last. I'm down to one replacement peg so I can only crash once more. [roll] unless I had the option of adapting to another peg like you're doing. Let me know, I'll spread the word if you want me to. Title: Re: Cycle Cat Replacement Parts Post by: Some Dude on August 20, 2008, 05:00:11 PM Here are the LSL footpeg adapters. It took a little longer than I thought but I finally got a few sets done. If anyone is still interested I have 2 extra sets I'll sell for $35 shipped or if you want them with a set of replacement arms $100 shipped. I plan on making more if there are more people interested.

I like the arc sweep design.

I like the arc sweep design. They are actualy LSL pegs. I chose those because they are inexpensive and many stores carry them http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-prodshow/16066.html Title: Re: Cycle Cat Replacement Parts (new stuff added) Post by: Howie on August 21, 2008, 04:17:43 AM Great work [thumbsup]

[thumbsup] If you decide to replicate the entire CycleCat rear set, let me know and I will be your first customer! I've had alot of people ask me to do this, and I would love to do it but, I am limited to availability of the machines at work. I can only work on stuff usually on saturday.Taking on such a big task Would be very costly in machine time (which I have to pay for) and materials. It would take so much time I'm afraid I wouldn't ever get them finished. I have however thought about drawing up a set and having a few shops bid on them to see what that might cost. The only thing that keeps me from doing that is I don't have a set for an S*R to copy, and I don't know if I can legaly do it with out getting sued. I've thought about buying a machine and putting it in my garage and maybe coming up with something similar but i'd be looking at about 50-70k for a decent setup with tooling and all. On another note I have finished rebuilding my set and if anyone is interested click on the ebay link in my sig. Would anyone else be interested in a set?

Cheers G Oh yea 1 other thing can you make toe pegs I've got the rubber just need the peg Thanks Title: Re: Cycle Cat Replacement Parts (new stuff added) Post by: Laz on September 22, 2008, 08:45:23 AM If you still have some LSL adapters, I would be interested in a set. My CC foot peg broke off in my get off.
Let me know. Thanks Title: Re: Cycle Cat Replacement Parts (new stuff added) Post by: Statler on September 22, 2008, 09:05:58 AM I don't want to speak for anyone at all, but I did get the impression that Alfred would protect any intellectual property interests he has in the full rearset design. And Oncycles is still around so it's not like the cyclecat people fell off the planet.
Just my opinion. I will however continue to make replacement parts until I am told I can't do that. Laz I will send you a pm Title: Re: Cycle Cat Replacement Parts (new stuff added) Post by: TAftonomos on September 22, 2008, 05:11:02 PM The machined pieces look good!
But if you needed to spend 50K to set up a maching to produce a rear-set, you'll end up just like CC did :(. Making a pair of rearsets for my s4rt is project #1 when I finally find a mill (and get it here). I have no idea if that is true or not, but it is what I heard. I have no idea if that is true or not, but it is what I heard. Yeah, I know a guy who inquired about that, and Alfred mentioned they had "millions and millions" into the designs ... So he'd like to recoup that. Could be a bunch of BS, but I doubt it (considering the source) Adam Title: Re: Cycle Cat Replacement Parts (new stuff added) Post by: krista on November 29, 2008, 03:46:23 PM Are you purchasing a mill? If so what kind are you looking for? If anyone is looking for machining equipment, I bought my stuff from Penn Tool Co. I got a mill like this one (http://www.penntoolco.com/catalog/products/products.cfm?categoryID=4814) (but 9x48) and a lathe like this one (http://www.penntoolco.com/catalog/products/products.cfm?categoryID=4802) (but 12x36) with DROs, much tooling, and home delivery for $10,000 some years ago. Great stuff. Not CNC, but with patience, can yield some great results. They've got CNCs based on bridgeport type vertical mills for $20k. If I had to do it over, I'd get a lathe more like this one (http://www.penntoolco.com/catalog/products/products.cfm?categoryID=4797). Key features I'd look for are "no change gears required", a foot brake, 14" swing, and the biggest spindle bore you can possibly afford. When I got the YCL-1236GH for $2100, none of these others were on the market. Getting >2" spindle bore started at $10,000. And to cut metric threads is a total pain -- there are all kinds of gears to change out to get the speeds correct. AND each metric thread pitch has a different set of change gears. :P And then there's the fact that even doing "little" parts for motorcycles, I've essentially gone beyond the capacity of the 12" swing on mine. Length isn't an issue for anything I've done. If I ever get another one, it'd probably be something with specs along these lines (http://www.machinetools4sale.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=3506). :) Chris Title: Re: Cycle Cat Replacement Parts (new stuff added) Post by: DucLeone on January 20, 2011, 05:15:31 AM BUMP!!
