Title: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: DukeZ on August 09, 2008, 11:10:37 PM I'm a Holden supporter.
Wondering how many 'Red Army' supporters own Ducatis compared to the 'Blue Oval' boy's. Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: bazz20 on August 09, 2008, 11:43:40 PM i wouldnt touch any car with H or F on it but your avata is hot [laugh]
Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: Spider on August 10, 2008, 12:01:55 AM I know what a ford is (those lovely deep glacier-created valleys in Norway, right?) but what's this 'holden' you speak of?
;D Bazz - you need to see the avatar in good resolution - the added detail really does deliver a deeply profound message. Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? I'm all for profound learning though, but with my poor eyesight I can't make out what is happening in that avatar, where is this high res picture you speak of? Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: Betty on August 10, 2008, 12:17:31 AM Oh yeah, Italian & Mexican cars in this household.

Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: Super T.I.B on August 10, 2008, 01:37:37 PM Have always been a Holden owner, but I don't really give a rats what type of car I drive these days. From a LX Torana SLR 5000 Hatch, 1965 HD Premier, '74 HJ Premier with a 308 in it, VH SL/E Dunnydore, VL Calais and now with my current piece of sh*t which I don't drive, Vicky Vectra [puke].
Have always been a fan of the Mopars, a mate of mine's Dad had???, (don't know if he has still got it as his Dad passed away a few years back), an original E38 Charger sitting on bricks and covered with blankets in his shed, silver and black with the red highlighted grill and it was IMMACULATE! I remember when he pulled the blankets off it and popped the bonnet and there were those huge triple webers still shiny and new. :o :o :o Anyway, next car will be Japanese or Euro. [thumbsup] Well, it didn't really start out as a SLR 5000. ;D When I got my hands on it, it only had a 253 in it. I stuck a nitrous bottle on it and blew it up. ;D So I had to just stick a 308 in it which was warmed out to 332. [bacon] [bacon] [bacon] Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: sydmonster on August 10, 2008, 04:50:19 PM Hmm... cars..
I owned track day weapons, (Alfa GT modified for circuit racing and 306 Peugeot for supersprinting) Fords... (XF Fairmont Ghia, 1.6lt Meteor) Holdens... (VK Calais with Director pack 5.0Lt) Jap stuff... (Nissans, Yota's) currently have a 98 Honda Accord... my friends call it the Hondborrzzzzz.... :P I also Valet Drove in 5* hotels for 8 years part-time, so I've driven stacks of cars... yes, even Fezzas (the Hanna brothers 355 and 360 come to mind as memorable, both with Tubi exhausts!) Non of them come close to my race Kart for fun, thrill or perfomance though! [evil] Then I have the Duke,... it fills the void that only a d'cati motorcycle can do best. [moto] [thumbsup] ...but your avata is hot [laugh] it moved me [evil] +1 on both counts ;D. - Chris(not suitable for work, home, children, people who find female homosexuality offensive or people that believe that white cotton camisoles are a bit bland or boring) http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg74/jubed/jokes/ATT1395119.jpg (http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg74/jubed/jokes/ATT1395119.jpg) Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? I don't know what all the fuss is about. Cars are over rated [laugh] Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: brimo on August 10, 2008, 09:05:57 PM Holden/Ford, a little like Ducati versus Harley debate.
Ford (Harley) Overweight lumps of cast iron piloted by greyhaired, ponytailed supperannuated types, who like to dress up in their brands clothes and hang around together, polishing their chrome bits. Ducati (Holden ) pinnacle of engineering excellence, piloted by sophisticated, stylish types, ahead of the pack in both how and what they drive. (i've got a ford) ;) Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? No,no,no,no,no,no.....and....no. Your Mac is like a Porsche, magnificence through slight refinement with each generation. There really isn't anything in the car world that we can compare a PC too, bits and pieces from a whole bunch on manufacturers with no stability and anything longer than 2 weeks without a crash and your must be dream'n. 'Cept maybe anything British Leyland from the '80's and '90's, they seem to fit zackly what you are describing Spider ;) [laugh] [clap] Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: brimo on August 12, 2008, 01:03:52 AM But seriously folks, how can you even mention Ducati in the same breath as Holden or Ford.
We own Ducatis because we are discerning, classy, urbane, devil may care types, we are more the sort of people who would own a Ferrari or lambo. (if we hadn't spent all our cash on bling.) Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: loony888 on August 12, 2008, 01:49:30 AM Land of the rising sun is the only way to go. Ford and Holden are always 5 to 10 years behind in technology, still using push rod engines aren't they? jap garbage huh? if you want to look at a photocopy instead of an oil canvas i guess they're ok [roll] holden still use pushrods, yes, but my XR8 is a 5.4litre quad cam 32 valve cross ram fuel injected ute with a 6 speed, and yes it still runs leaf springs in the back but only on the ute cos they work!! i've had some ripper cars over the years, a mini cooper, a R100 12A mazda, a XA GT, an E55 charger with 6pack and a 4 speed new process box, a maloo ute, a stroked HZ tonner, and the list goes on. so no, i have no allegiance to a brand, except DUCATI of course, but if i had the cash i'd definitely have an audi RS4 [thumbsup] paul. How can you say that Spider. A PC is like a hot rod. You can customise them anyway you want, bigger flasher case with water cooling, smaller home theatre silent running systems, multiple CPU's under the bonnet, multiple SLI'd video cards for extra grunt, and anything in between. The Mac is like a Hyundai, theres not much you can, or would want to do except pox it up with spoilers and scoops, but esentially its the same under the skin. ;D BTW, the best car I owned was an 5 ltr ED Fairmont, but I havn't had anything exotic .... yet (i have a grampa car Subaru at the moment) Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: loony888 on August 12, 2008, 02:25:04 AM excuse me dos verde, but a mac is NOT like a hyundai!!! good lord! you can do all that other stuff to a pc, yes, you have to to keep them running!!! a mac is reliable, safe, and dependable, i fact i think if it has to be compared to a car it would be a volvo, reliable, safe and dependable, and just as volvos are built for guys who don't want to tinker under the hood, macs are too.

PC's are good for guys that would have owned a MG or lotus or any other British sports thing in the mid 20th century....you buy one knowing that you will spend more time fixing it than driving it. still not sure what a Ducati car equivalent is, they are high end but not incredibly limited in numbers (Ferrari or Pagani Zonda(25 cars a year!)) and the fact remains that t a person CAN work on them if they desire... the company has also been known for financial and electrical issues - I'm seeing some similarities here! that 8c is pretty - should be - it's made in the Maserati factory with ATR carbon (Colnage bicycles and...um...Ferrari!) and has Brembo's on it too Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? I still don't know what colour the alloy is...all I see is pitted dark orange! you think the Italians install components wet? or bless the machinery with water from the Ligurian sea? :D Title: Re: Ducati owners are Holden or Ford followers? Post by: loony888 on August 12, 2008, 11:41:44 PM apparently it's piss poor sealing of packing containers. years and years ago i was into fiats, god only knows why [bang], but i digress, and just about everyone with one had major rust issues, as well as the alfa nuts, cause they were parked in containers and shipped on deck. i imagine that even the best galvanised bodied bmw's and benz' would have rusted out if they were subjected to that! nowadays they're shipped on specific freight liners and kept below deck and dry and driven on and off, add to that the designs are much better and corrosion resistance is better, etc.etc. still wouldn't have another though. :P
