That's why I went for the Monster in the first place. It does have me thinking about a Sport Classic as a 2nd bike instead of a Superbike. And you can always entice me with a spin on your lovely PS, before or after you change the rubber on it? Hmmmmm, 620 Monster and Classic 1000, nice looking garage. Title: Re: Is Matty nearing the 5 year itch Post by: Dockstrada on August 14, 2008, 01:38:34 AM You can ride it any time you like Matty [thumbsup]
The sports 1000 has plenty of pop.The handeling is up there with the best Ducati's,Its just got that special something ??? Title: Re: Is Matty nearing the 5 year itch Post by: mattyvas on August 14, 2008, 01:45:15 AM I like the look of this one in a thread on the main board.

Title: Re: Is Matty nearing the 5 year itch Post by: mattyvas on August 14, 2008, 03:39:11 AM Considering a couple of things, track weapon yes but maybe just another bike in the stable also.
Haven't had a good blast on the 848 as yet but the 749 goes for really reasonable money and it will only get better. The few Sport classic owners I know seem to like the looks but not so complementary on the handling & ergonomics.
So.... in light of that comment, all those unhappsy SC owners; let me do you a favour. I will rid you of your burdens, $5 each if you deliver them to my house.... ... I know, I know, im being generous. But after all,... I look after fellow ducatisti. [evil] - Chris The handling is different but that doesn’t make it bad, It has a very stretched out position, not for all. IMO it handles as good as my monster up to a 45km corner, over and above it will sh#t all over the monster including some sports bikes. Again It all comes down to the rider, I have a mate Theo getting 1:48 at the creek on his S/C, now I also have a mate getting 2:15 on his 1098 dose the S/C handle better than a 1098 ??? Not likely, The sports Classic will offer more handling ability than “we” weekend warriors can ask from it, There is more pleasure in riding such a unique machine at you capable pace. After all I didn’t see a bikini girl with a trophy waiting for me at Robertson Pie shop yesterday when I arrive, Did you Matty ??? Most people buy with passion some buy on HP figures. Title: Re: Is Matty nearing the 5 year itch Post by: mattyvas on August 14, 2008, 09:47:49 PM Yeah I saw her I think she walked around that big truck as you circled it [cheeky] [cheeky]
As you say some buy with HP in mind but most buy cause they like the look of it. I like the look of the SC naked and if the stretched position isn't good then you can always do as some have done in the posted pictures and drop a set of straight bars on it with bar risers and I'm sure it will change the way it feels. True that Matty you can buy a set off bar raisers optional for the 06 The 07 08 models have now a set of bar raisers standard, which brings it inline with the monster position ,But Just one thing Matty you mentioned you would like to have a dry clutch ,Well bad news It was replaced with a wet one in 07 also went to duel sided exhaust and shocks so you will need to find a pre loved or some old stock to have a dry . I know that Fraser’s W/Gong had a yellow 06 with 1200km for sale ride away for 15k not long ago .But I have even seen them for less than 13k on Bike point now that a sport 1000 not a 1000s. to be honest if I hadn’t seen the smart id would have bought a sport 1000 yellow Title: Re: Is Matty nearing the 5 year itch Post by: sydmonster on August 15, 2008, 12:38:12 AM The handling is different but that doesn’t make it bad, It has a very stretched out position, not for all. Title: Re: Is Matty nearing the 5 year itch Post by: R_usty on August 15, 2008, 02:42:13 AM Got to say - I love the look of the SC's but after taking one for a spin in Canberra last year I really hated the position - However, I hated the 1098's position the first day I had that but now I love it .... I am even thinking of getting one......
Moral to the story - you need more than a day to really try out a bike and if you like the look I am sure you can get the bike to 'fit' your riding needs - just may cost a few $$$ Go for it Matty [thumbsup] Title: Re: Is Matty nearing the 5 year itch Post by: Betty on August 16, 2008, 02:05:38 PM another 848 review (i've posted one before I believe) http://www.sportrider.com/features/146_0804_ducati_848/index.html (http://www.sportrider.com/features/146_0804_ducati_848/index.html) that rider looks like he doesn't have many complaints at all! Mate it barks and growls and is intimidating. I love the 992ds engine, but connected to Zards - wow!
real shame about the reason for the sale though. and Matty - I can tell you (I spent about 3 minutes looking at it) it is in pristine condition!
