i remember ivan had one on his bike. bought a tripod which fitted onto a tank by removing the 3 tank screws. was about $90 and looked really solid, bought in OZ too

For web images as in YouTube it's be great but I think it would look not so great on your plasma showing your mates.
A res size of 640x480 would be limiting.

I was actuly thinking of buying a small cam corder with a memory card ???
Saw a Water proof to 10 mtrs one the other day for $500 it was panasonic and verry small wt:

yeah I think that you'd get more use of that and better quality.

Big T am i missing somthing that seems to be a mount for a cam ???

yeah that's the one I was talking to Melvin about today.
Only thing form my own liking is that you are looking through half your bikini which gives you a distorted view of sorts.
But then it does give you good command over your camera and keeps it safe.

The wing nut is the mounting screw for this system.
The three bolts are for screwing into the tank.

Oh it is just a mount  :-[

OOppppsss Dock. Yep is a camera mount. Looking at getting one for the Monster so I can mount the Sony HD CX-7 on the tank.....

Will do Big T, think something mounted low looking at the front wheel would give you the sensation of speed.
Also would look cool riding close to someone else in front of you.

I'm pretty sure Mickyb had something mounted on the side of his bike, made it himself. But I think he is O/S. You could look through TOB and try and find his post?

Understand the view issues with the screen in place and the greater speed sensation for a lower mount.

But the video on Big T's link shows how the highmount gives a pretty decent cornering sensation as the camera is moving further from side to side - I found myself leaning into the corners.

So Matty when do you think we can look at the setup for my monster it would be great if it was ready fro the 31st  8)

Hey fellow bikers from down under.  I am invading your board from NYMMC because I did a search on cams and found your thread.  We in NYMMC have also been toying around with cams and a buddy (Cru Jones) bought the Oregon Scientific cam and mounted it on a monster and an RC51.  In the first thread we had a brief talk about cams and in the second we posted some videos.  If your curious about mounting ask Cru in our section or if you were curious about the quality check out the vid in the second thread.  It might be worse than original due to youtube compression, not sure.

Dockstrada has already mounted a Canon onto his radiator?? on his S4R and taken heaps of vids, I'm pretty sure if you did some searching here on our board, you would find 'em.

And Big T is rigging up a rear facing camera to be mounted on a seat cowl, should be interesting, make sure you come back and have a look.  [popcorn]

Big T doesn't need the rear cowl for the camera mount with the new seat on the way. It has an in-built video camera with hydraulic actuators and a fully integrated ohlins suspension system to smooth out the picture .... it also has a pop-up widescreen so he can replay the footage for us at pit stops.

Okay have just mounted the bracket and camera.

The 3 pics show the tank bracket, the camera bracket with adjustment screws and the camera mounted.

And I can still get to fuel up with it all mounted.... Thank goodness....... Not that I Need to....  [bang]

Nice looking, make sure if you have sound menus on the Sony that you turn the wind sock setting right up.
And maybe even tape a small foam over the mic just to cut any excess wind noise out.

OK, where did you get that particular mount?

How "bad" would it be to use my "old" JVC digital tape camera?

Understanding the issues associated with moving parts etc. but ..........if it does go belly up, then I have a good reason to buy a new one, right?  ;D

Don't you just hate how reliable things have become - how on earth can I convince the "minister of finance" to fork out some cash if the old stuff still works?

i used an sony digital 8 to take this vid yes the tape does play up but only in high end revs but the biggest prob is camera weight , very hard to get vibration free , but fine around town , hope that helps thats why i built a mount of handle bars  orso to get the camera behind screen for more protection

Hey any of you guys play with the video settings when mounted on the bike???

1. As in turn off the image stabilization?

2. Set the focus to manual - infinity?

Any other bits you play with????

yep went manual focas set to infinity and beond  [laugh] made sure zoom was at min and just ride baby ride  [cheeky]

Big T It seem to work better with the image  stabilization on and on auto focus on and the quality to max thats how mine ws set up  [thumbsup]

the only trouble with auto focus is some times the camerea want to focus on the screen [thumbsup] were dock had his mounted it was clear  [thumbsup]

well it only makes sense , we go to all this trouble to have the best sounding bikes on the planet why not have the orchestra  playing back ground and cuts down on the wind noise  [thumbsup]

True dat Bazz been looking for a mic for my cam,and having some trouble finding the right one ???

Just read the manual for my video (yeeaaaa last resort I know) and discovered it has two settings for the camera mic.

Normal which is sort of directional facing forward....

Surround sound which picks up the sound all round you. So will give that a try next time.....  [thumbsup]

Great thought bazz re the external mic...... Will also see what I can find that will work externally...  [moto]

The other thing you can do is tape a small foam over the mic to make a crude wind sock.

ive found computer shops are the best place for mikes and computers run the same size plug so fellals and girls  go play and lets hear that music  [thumbsup]
