Title: Odd feeling...
Post by: erkishhorde on August 18, 2008, 07:24:51 AM
when someone you know of dies but you didn't really know them. Kinda confusing.

For anyone that cares to know the story:

Ah Louis founded the Chinese Student Association (CSA) at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo way back in the day of the railroads. His last living son, Howard Louis did a fair amount for the club while he was younger and when he was older gave us tons of money (which CSA has been squandering...  [roll]). Anyway, inside CSA is a Lion Dance team. We're the public image of CSA since the bums in the parent group do nothing. We feel that we should do something for the guy's funeral but aren't sure what. None of us knew him personally and nobody that's still in town has even seen the guy more than once.

Show up and dance.

Funerals are a celebration of the life that was lived.

RIP Howard

I'd like to but we don't have the correct lion. You're supposed to use a while lion and then burn it at the funeral.

Is there a lion maker that could donate one?  Or sell it to you for a low price for use at Mr Louis funeral?

Based on that article I'd say try to get into contact with either the professor they mentioned or with the nephew and get some input from the family.  Since you said no one knew the guy, I think that'd be the the way to start rather than just assume something and show up.

+1

you would also be showing much respect and appreciation to the family if you do...
