Title: the guy built this in his garage... amazing
Post by: That Nice Guy Beck! on August 18, 2008, 09:47:35 AM

It sometimes amazes me what a person can do by themselves with right attitude and motivation and with this superbly cloned Batmobile, this amazement has happened once again. Bob Dullam who makes specialty costumes, props, and statues for a living is credited with the creation, he created it in his home Garage using only photographs from the film.

The project cost between $50K and $70K in total, Dullam has also made and batsuit and he also plans to start on a Batpod next. Sorry to say for anyone wanting to get hold of it, it is definitely NOT for sale.

register it as a modified buggy.  It looks like it could have been made on a sand rail frame with a body.

If you can put an Aerial on the road..this should be no problem.  '

some state vehicle codes have a limitation regarding the lowest point of the vehicle extending below the bottom of the rim.

I loosely paraphrase Bob Goldthwait: "Have you ever seen a vagina?!?"

Ok theres now way this thing can be worth 50 grand. I've seen the pics from jalopnik before, I'd put the drive train at about 12k most. The rest of the thing didnt he fab up himself? I mean he welded the entire frame together using tubing and its not like it has a killer paint job. Of course you can't put a price on the man hours he put into it though...

I'm calling bullshit on the 50-70k statement, 30 grand at most right there.

Depends on whether it has all the hydraulic actuators and control systems of the movie car, and the cockpit displays.  I work in aviation on glass-cockpit and head-up displays.  EICAS (Engine Instrument and Crew Alerting System) glass displays can run $2500k-$10k easily for off-the-shelf General Aviation light aircraft units... and mil-spec 12" MFDs (multi-function displays) are a little over $70,000 apeice (just for the hardware, not including custom software).  So, $50k-$70k is believable...IF the car is complete down to the cockpit displays and electrohydraulic control systems.

"Do you guys even know what a vagina looks like? I bet you couldn't pick a vagina out of a lineup. If you had a vagina, a mop, and a donut in a lineup, could you pick out the vagina?" - Bobcat Goldthwait
