Title: Re: Oz monster Track day 29th September Post by: Dockstrada on August 20, 2008, 06:57:24 PM Ok so it looks like somthing is forming,
Date 29th September Eastern creek Cost is $169.00 Click for More information (http://www.easterncreekridedays.com.au/shop/home.php?cat=249) Here are the groups and my opinion where some of us fit; based on the time I have spent with some of them riding on the road and track . So if you ride with some of these guys and think you can fit the same group its up to you, Just one thing the higher he group the more ruthless the passing and braking, your not riding with mates up to the Pie shop, there are guys (losers) thinking they are going to get discovered buy a major bike manufacturer for the next round of the super bikes so there is heaps of passing and corner pressure. White (Slow) First timers not based on speed and ability on the road just the new environment. Yellow (Slow/Med) Matty , BIG AL (one thing Matty is talking down his ability for those of you thinking ) Green (Med/Fast) Rusty,Dock (I and I feel Rusty mostly ride to 60% on the road) Red (Fast) Big Ian ( well I don’t know about Big Ian he's just to dam Quick) So if you are interested let me know which group you would like to be in. So far, White Cragio , Melvin , ace70 Yellow Matty ,Tricolore Green Dock , Rusty , Pigmy PM me with you prefered group if you are interested Title: Re: Oz monster Track day 29th September Post by: tricolore on August 21, 2008, 02:37:59 AM Do I have De-Ja-Vu?

Having never done a track day, thought I would pick some brains for tips on surviving the day.
I remember my first Enduro, Man was I underprepared... poor tyre choice, blinkers, and no idea what to expect. Anyway I survived that but would prefer to be organised. I have noticed some people have pvc tape over lights etc, Why? Title: Re: Oz monster Track day 29th September Post by: Super T.I.B on September 17, 2008, 02:49:56 PM I have noticed some people have pvc tape over lights etc, Why? That's in case you have a stack, god forbid, and you don't leave glass all over the track. Title: Re: Oz monster Track day 29th September Post by: mattyvas on September 17, 2008, 08:07:36 PM Normally you have a colour tape over your light to indicate the group you are in.
Bring tools along to take your mirrors off if you want otherwise they will be taped up by organizers. First day out I ran 30/30 psi in my tires. This time I might start a little lower. If you are bringing it on your trailer bring your paddock stand if you have one. Let me see what else, big bottle of water and bring your own lunch food is okay out there but not great. cheers Matty... Title: Re: Oz monster Track day 29th September Post by: craigo on September 17, 2008, 11:55:29 PM Should be an awesome day, I'm looking forward to it. I am gonna trailer everything as well. Less stress and more comfort.
Based on my previous (single) experience, if you are taking a trailer, tape your lights and remove mirrors the night before. Less stress when you get there. . Umm you may wanna bring Fuel as well :) People were removing/taping their number plate as circuit breakers.. not sure what the deal with that was. It's not like there's speed cameras. ;D I think you might need to put a bar end cap on as well Tri if you remove your mirrors (not sure if you are allowed to have just the bars sticking out the end of the grips). Tri bring some fuel you will need it last track day I did over 300km so think about how much fuel she eats when you’re up her :o Bring a chair, something to eat as Matty said the food is crap .a hat, ear plugs. Bring something to change out of your leather at the end of the day Your head light is plastic Tri so nothing to worry about. The track is not as daunting as it’s made out to be lots of people talk it up. Its much easer than you thing. if you run at you own pace, consider you have 10 mtrs of track width to play with and no nasty surprises coming the other way. Just chill and have a great day you’ll love it. The fact that you ride a Dirt bike is a bonus, I do some dirt work my self and I can tell you if you have ever been to Belangelo State forest doing full throttle on some of the bends and fire trails while your rear wheel trying to over take you, than you have nothing to fear. the track is a walk in the park. There is no one throwing rocks from their knobblies at you as they overtake. (I've happily done it with a taped headlight and no mirrors, if you're doing to go so far as removing the headlight and indicators and sidestand, this becomes a less viable option.) Oh, and removing the headlight isn't a bad idea - have you priced up a replacement from Ducati lately? They used to want ~$600 for the complete unit for mine, and didn't bother selling individual bits, unlike BMW who'll happily sell me the same front glass bit as an original Bosch part which is a spare part for a BMW R80 for ~$40... big Title: Re: Oz monster Track day 29th September Post by: tricolore on September 22, 2008, 03:00:05 PM Just flicking through the paperwork from E.C.R.D they have suggested replacing the Glycol for water and corrosion inhibitor? Excellent track conditions, fresh oil changed myself (with Vince's help) well actually he changed it then when I announced after the job was done That it was my first ever time doing this myself, Why didn't ya tell me I would have let you burn your own fingers off pulling the sump plug. (I'd just ridden from the City) Back to the day, where was I, ah yes good conditions slight cloud cover good track temp not too hot. Vince giving the Jap bike Thou's a hiding, get to the 4th session on my warm up lap after missing the first couple of laps of the session. Rounding turn 7 before Corporate Hill long left hander, glance over to my right to see a fella on his TL 1000R had placed himself on a narrowing piece of real estate. So how do you get yourself out of that situation, he gives it a hand full of wellie and hey presto over the top he went. He was about half a bike length in front of me to my right and I just watched it in slow motion.... I couldn't believe I was seeing it, I felt terrible inside my helmet cause I felt like he was out there cause of me but then I corrected myself and thought well all he needed to do was wait one corner and he would have been safely by. Poor mate Zeeat behind who was on an out lap with me had to avoid the bike sliding off one way and the rider going the other. Went to check on the rider at the Medical centre after the session was red flagged, he was in okay shape hand and feet moving. But couldn't remember what happened and all he kept saying was This wasn't supposed to happen! Lets hope track day #4 is not as eventful for me. I hear though that Vince is sticking the S4RS on slicks!!!! He's already grinning like a teenager running SuperCorsa Pro's, slicks are gonna make him grin like a teenager who just saw his first nudie girl and took off to tell his mates. On Slicks! Title: Re: Oz monster Track day Post by: Dockstrada on October 26, 2008, 01:02:24 PM My nose as been all choked up since I burnt the tip of my nose clearing finger on that sump plug, But yes it was good to have a fresh batch of oil in the sump ;D
As for the Ltr Japer’s the monster can defiantly hold its own against them on the track. The only let down would be in to turn 1 and 12 but I think a good damper set up, slicks and some suspension setup would short that out As for Matty you were tearing it up all day long being one of the fastest in you group, All I can say is you are defiantly asking you baby to make commitments she can’t deliver ??? Can’t wait to see you on a more capable machine you’ll be hot on my tail [popcorn] All fun day cant wait until the next one ,Which happens to be on the 13th of December He He [moto] Title: Re: Oz monster Track day Post by: Dockstrada on October 30, 2008, 07:47:20 PM Doing a Circuit breakers on the 24th of November anyone interested [thumbsup]

It was a private track hire for them to shoot clothing ranges going around on riders/bikes. Was pretty fun to watch, didn't have gear there to ride, but if there is another chance I'll go prepared. Biggest problem Andy (pictured) had was that his WR Kwaka had road tyres as did the other version there. The other few bikes were on more appropriate rubber. I'll bang a few more snaps on flickr and let you know. Title: Re: Oz monster Track day Post by: Dockstrada on February 20, 2009, 09:56:28 PM OK had 2 trackdays Friday and Sat ,Friday was a hum ding-er weather was great, I'm getting a little more comfy with the desmo now so I'm liking it more and more ,The Don was out there whizzing around on his oil burner trackie RS250 nice [thumbsup]

Had my own private scrutineer check the bikes over in my pit (thanks Vince) and a great yarn to Big AL. Yesterday was the first time that I have seen a D16 in the flesh Lovely bike, congratulations Vince.
Don Great day had by all and I don't think an ambulance was called. The issue is that Flickr groups are pretty basic - you can't group into collections and sets, so we ended up starting a new flickr account for them. Not ideal, but the best we could come up with for the moment. I'm not sure how you can transfer from one account to the other in flickr - perhaps Matty knows..
