That was a messed up deal, we watched a video of the fire during a fire service class I took. They used pyrotechnics that were a no no if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, sad incident all around. I remember seeing it on the news late the night it happened when I was holed up in a hotel somewhere.
I watched the sentencing on court TV a few years back and that Rhode Island judge was pretty well-spoken when you could get past the New England accent. He did a good job explaining why one of the club owners would get prison time.

Yea, it gave me a bad feeling watching it, and I've been with the FD for 10 years now and seen alot, but that was wacked.

We saw it twice at this years fire school.
First time thru the instructor kept pausing the video and pointing out details to the class.
Second time straight thru.
The lesson for all of us is, 1) when the stuff hits the fan get out NOW, you don't have time to get your purse or jacket. 2) when you enter a strange room look for all possible exits.

I've been to a lot of nightclubs and this was just messed up. :(
Looking back I'm amazed some of them were even in business with rather clear violations of overcrowding and sketchy structural appearances.
I lived in the area when that all happened. I had joked about going that morning. As it turned out we didn't go. still gives me the creeps thinking about it.
No amount of money will bring back the friends and families that were smashed that night. RIP
