Title: "work related" time wasters?
Post by: erkishhorde on August 19, 2008, 08:14:56 AM
I know we all like to surf the net to waste time at work but what is there that is actually somewhat work related that you waste time on (beside work itself...  [roll]). My work has a list of people w/ their headshots so I browse through there to see if there's any pretty ladies wandering around the office that I don't get to see because I'm stuck at my desk doing calcs.  [roll] The pictures don't do some of these ladies justice.  ;) It also helps me remember the names+faces of people I just met since I just started. Our intranet also has lots of LEED information that I browse a bit too.

Anything interesting at your work?

I set small fires.

Or I just walk from my office, to the front door, through the crew room, across the truck bay, and back into my office.
Or smoke.
Or sit in busier people office's and watch them work.
Or read training material for jobs I don't have. But I probably can do most of them now.. .. ..

Some people in my work center have been known to search the email global directory for funny names.

i work in a big ass foundry and often time have to check on jobs in one of our 3 machine shops.  it is about 1/4 mile from my desk to the furthest machining cell.  on nice afternoons i sometimes just grab my clip board (makes me look important) and go for a long walk to the machine shop then down to the south end of the plant to 'check on a casting' and then back to my desk.  it's about .8 miles according to g-maps pedometer :D
