Title: NASCAR WTF?
Post by: Speeddog on August 20, 2008, 08:53:27 AM
Can someone please explain the rules behind this penalty?

Magnets under the gas pedals?
Ordered to reduce HP by 15?

I read the article a couple days back but how does magnets help you cheat?

by not allowing the accelerator pedal to have it's complete travel, therefore not getting as much HP as it could have.

back in the day

it was called sandbagging

to qualify lower than the cars true potential in a reverse field order situation...slow guy starts up front

in nascar

it is to conserve fuel and mask HP till the last few laps

then right at the end

you kick off the magnet and youz gots more yayo yo

Apparently, a magnetic shim to stop full travel of the pedal.... assuming it went on after the race.
Initially I thought it was using magnetic repulsion to make the pedal harder to push, but that seemed silly.

It was used during a Dyno run.

So I guess they use magnet only because it sticks to the metal pedal...

But its still a piece that prevents you from pressing all the way down. hell it could be a neo magnet. woudlnt matter. Still cant press the pedal all the way down. as long as u can remove it without having to reach down there with your hand your good.

remmeber. Go fast....turn left.!!!!
