Title: windscreen customizations Post by: Duc and Cover on May 08, 2008, 08:15:58 AM My new DucDual headlights leave a lot of exposed wires (since I removed my front fairing), so I was thinking about covering that area back up. But I hate the look of the stock windscreen coming up over the gauge cluster. So it occurred to me I could use my original front-fairing, but then carve off most of the section for the windscreen. Has anyone chopped up their front fairing like this before (or heard of anyone else doing it)? Or does someone already make a mini-fairing like this?
Here is my artist's rendering of what I am trying to accomplish: (http://www.1322vermont.com-a.googlepages.com/choppedfairing.JPG/choppedfairing-full;init:.JPG) Title: Re: windscreen customizations Post by: Duc and Cover on May 08, 2008, 10:42:10 AM So I did some research and it looks like there are lots of smaller windscreens out there called bikini fairings. But none quite as small as what I'm going for. I think I'll take out my hacksaw tonight...

looks like it might do exactly what you are getting at having done... Too late, already finished...now I've got a color-matched bikini fairing. Tools: Hacksaw, file (rasp?), epoxy. Time: 1 hour I'll post a pic of the bike with this new fairing and the DucDual headlight later... If there's one thing I learned from growing up around Harleys, it's that stock anything is bad. And arbitrarily spending money to change things for no other reason than to not be stock is always good. Even when I hear how ridiculous it sounds when I say it like that, I still can't help but think of my next mod...
