Title: How low can you go?
Post by: LMT on August 23, 2008, 03:29:53 PM
Had my blood pressure checked today.  92/68.

This was after walking 2 miles and 3 cups of coffee.

It had been in the 103 range.  Running 3 or 4 times a weeks must have made my heart even better.

Whats yours?

I'm usually about 90/60 myself. Years of playing soccer every day has helped.  [thumbsup]

Ha!  Mine's borderline hypertension... but one of my profs at Embry-Riddle was telling us about his time in the Air Force.  They gave him a medical order to run less, because his BP was so low he'd have blacked out while flying (he was a REO in F-4 Phantoms during & after Vietnam).

Mine usually runs in the 80's/high 40's.  I have a dog tag that I wear when riding that gives my emergency contact, med allergies, and baseline blood pressure (I don't want them dopamin-ing me up to the 120's).

Prescott

I'm surprised that anyone here knew enough about the school to ask that question...   [cheeky]

The professor to which I refer is Dr. Jeff Ashworth.

Was wondering the same thing; give me a holler -- I'm in Prescott as well. Deweey, are you an AZ local as well?

Oh, and not to threadjack -- a couple of weeks ago I was 100/65, after walking over to the insurance office for a life insurance physical. I was proud of my 53 bpm heart rate though, surprising considering that my last serious training was about a year ago and 5000ish feet lower in elevation!

Well, I'd love to go riding with other Ducatisti around Prescott... but I'm in Portland, Oregon now.  :-\ I'm a native up here, went to school 2001-2005 at ERAU Prescott, graduated and moved to Iowa for 2 years, then moved back to Portland middle of last year.

If I could get a job building airplanes in Prescott, I'd be back in a heartbeat.  I loved those high-desert mountains.  [thumbsup]

i have high BP no matter how hard i work out or how healthy my diet is (and it's pretty healthy).  I'm not overweight (i'm at my target weight for my height but will probably lose another five pounds net-net after gaining some muscle too).  High BP runs in my family so I have to be very careful about stress and what i consume.

I run from 123-136ish/83ish

I do not understand it.  I am in fantastic health.  Not to toot my own horn but I've got a particularly high shirtless aeshetic value.  I just ran a 5k under 21, which isn't really braggable to any degree but, I haven't run in 4-5 months and I broke my foot 2.5 months before the race.

The only thing I can figure is after running CC in college I do not come any where close to comparable cardio.  That and my diet is awful.  I figure as long as I work off all of the crap I eat I can eat whatever I would like.  Apparently, that logic doesn't really ring entirely true.

I always wanted to go there. But I'm not doing anything with my A&P anymore anyway.
