Title: newbie seeking everything
Post by: 8 lives on August 24, 2008, 09:27:21 AM
I just bought my first motorcycle a 2007 M695 back in February and haven't done much distance riding yet.  I ride around town and what not but would like to meet some people to go on longer rides and make friends.  Also i was looking for some people that do maintenance and mods and the such.  I want to install the pro italia tail chop kit i bought but the piss poor instructions kinda have me scratching my head.

You came to the right place for rides and mod/maintainance help.

You might wanna familiarize yourself with some of the posts, etc. here before wanting to look for a friend out of this group  [laugh]

I did the pro italia on my old s2r.... it wasn't the most fun... but it looked great. I think there may be some pictures on the mods  threads.

Sorry!  :o

You must've started hangin' out with this group while I was too busy with work to log in.  Ask Cierra... I was gone for a while, so much that she thought I hated the group or something.  It was just work.  So-called "voluntary overtime" has been killin' me... but I've made an effort to put in an hour or so on the DMF here and there.

Anyway, I have since returned to my post as the designated "sane" person (though I myself am not so sure of my sanity when hanging out with this gang sometimes...)  ;)

You're the closest to sane I think.  [thumbsup]

And I think they made me more insane.... ;D

Oh, jb, you'll figure out real quick that threads get jacked within the first five posts usually around here.  :D

you have no idea how it makes that vein pop. i even get a little tic when you say that.

i'm actually in BFE texas right now for work. NC is finally getting some rain while I'm gone. Weather's been decent, on my ride this past saturday it was high 70s in the foothills and low 80s in the piedmont (yes, they are two completely different climates this time of year). It was awesome! Now i'm in make the beast with two backsin 90 degree weather in BFE but its ok. All will be better come saturday.  [thumbsup]

What does you being 13 have to do with Christmas and the Nativity scene?

Oh... you said naivete... which definition you going for?

1. The quality or state of being naive; natural or artless simplicity.
2. The state or quality of being inexperienced or unsophisticated, especially in being artless, credulous, or uncritical.

I kinda pictured you as the artless simpleton.  [laugh]

Co-worker "You sure sound it.  Everyone thinks so."
Me "I'm getting cranky becuase everyone keeps accusing me of it."
Kristine "Sweetie . . . you're the only one in the building who doesn't think you're cranky.  Go home."

Why the frown? I would be happy to have somebody tell me to go home. It's sunny outside!!  I think that cranky is just part of your personality. You just have different levels of cranky. You need a road trip to Vegas to uncranky you.

I like your sick and perverted picture.  It makes me feel kinda funny,  like when we use to climb the rope in gym class.

2 days and 2 hours by bike to get there.  Dude that's a long trip . . .  Probably pricey too.

So it sounds great and I loved to go but between needing to take 5 days off from work to really enjoy it and the $$ that I don't have right now I think I'm gonna have to pass.

Maybe next year.

The Portland to Reno portion of the ride is the most fun piece any how... the only thing on the 95 between Reno and Vegas is brothels... not a twisty road to be seen for miles.... it's like a 600 mile straight road. Lame.

4 days?

600 mile day there
2 days of fun
600 mile day back

I could do it on the Monster . . . That's a lotta miles on your bike.

Not quite... he said the road from Reno to Las Vegas was "like a 600 mile straight road."

Portland to Vegas is a little over a thousand miles by a fairly direct route through Reno.  Reno is 577 miles just beating down I-5 until NorCal, when you veer east, then the roads get mildly interesting.  Of course, you'd actually want to go over the Cascades somewhere and head down 97, then take back highways once you get south of K Falls.

It'd be a solid 2-day trip by motorcycle if you tried to take any roads more interesting than freeway.

Here's a Google Map going from P-town to Reno, then on to Vegas:
