Title: The List Revisited
Post by: Mother on August 25, 2008, 10:18:47 AM
We'll try this instead

Vic's thirsty bike comment got me wondering what everyone rode

What if I ride more then one bike?

This poll sucks balls.

Wouldn't it make more sense to find out what MPG people are getting? Them monsters may all have started life with the same wobbly bits... but a hack saw... a few hundred trips (and dollars) to MotoCorsa... and most of them end up with a life of their own. I even read that a dirty car gets worse gas mileage than a clean car.... not sure if that has a similar corelation to bikes... but my point is... er... that... uh... umm.... a human head weighs 8 pounds.

I think I lost what I was getting at... so I will leave you with this...

Embrace confusion. It gives you more opportunities to learn something.

ryandalling confuses me

and how he breaks through my owned jumbled thoughts to do that is...er...what's for breakfast?

The answe to life, the unverse, and everything: 42.

Also my MPG on box stock M800 Dark.  I'll do a lot of things for the environment but I ain't washing my bike.

What?  Some kind of question regarding bike mileage?

I average 44 mpg in mixed city/hwy riding.  Last weekend's Cougar Run netted 49.5mpg over the course of 220 miles.  That surprised me a bit, since I was riding in lower gears than normal (to keep the engine up where it makes smoother power).  However, since the bike only shut down 3-4 times between tanks, the lack of time spent warming up may have contributed to the higher mileage.

How far you can go on a tank of gas before you need to stop and refuel would seem to be what everyone needs to know when they ride as a group.

(unless things are really 'different' on that other coast) ;D

It varies widely.  I can go 140 on my stock 800 before the light comes on.  Brian mentioned Saturday that his light comes on around 80.  Smaller plastic tank and way more mods.  I still feel weird not having to switch to reserve.  This low fuel light is way too high tech.

the light on my 695 comes on around 112 to 120 during the week when I'm commuting...it's sorta modded.  if I'm on a ride i can get a bit more than that but I try to add fuel around that mileage even if the light isn't on...pushing sux.

Mine is good the drive to PIR 2 practice sessions and about 2.5 races.   [bang]

I've gotten anywhere from 40-ish to 53 mpg, averaging about 45.

I've gotten 170 out of a tank on my Sport 1000, but it was all slab keeping the speed up and the revs down. Most of it was spent doing 70 in 5th at about 4000.

I still haven't figured out what the hell that 6th gear is for.

6th is good for 125+ MPH

Um... Okay?

3rd gets me to 90 while passing. I've hit 110 in 4th while passing a string, but that's about as far as I've ever had to take it.

I've never topped the bike out and I don't really feel a need to.

Hey now, I've never had mine beyond about 105.  Similar reason... just never felt the need to. *shrugs*  Then again, my nickname is "BibleBoy," so go figure that one.  [cheeky]

Now the dedicated track machine... I'll get it goin' as fast as allowable down the front straight of PIR when I get it out for a track day next year.  [evil]

The factory says 145 mph and I have no reason not to believe them.

Besides, the last guy from my command who got busted for criminal speeding (>30 mph over the limit in Maine) lost his security clearance and his base driving privileges.

Some of us have more little shit to lose.

Ironically, the fastest I've ever been on a motorcycle was 110mph -> on a SportClassic S... :)

I average around 45mpg, but I'm curious how it's doing now that the mixture is fixed (was WAY too lean).  I did get 52mpg on my trip to Mill City on Z's bday (pre-fixing of said ECU/mixture)... :P

What no S4rs Tricolore on the ballot? I know, I know, you can`nt split hairs, there is a S4rs, so thats where my vote went. Good poll!  [thumbsup]

Hopefully not straying to far afoot. I get between 36 to 39 mpg depending on my right hand. Full Termignoni system( no baffles, sound of heaven)and 14 tooth. Fuel light at about 90 miles, about 1.5 gal still in reserve.

Wassup J-man?  You still on hurricane duty?

I'm back in Oregon

on standby

if Ike descides to tear up texas I'll go and replace the people there as they get rotated out

I hope

this is the worst part about working 911

I don't get to go on these deployments unless they are desperate for people

all the non-911 employees get to be deployed for months at a time

it is the one and only reason I really enjoyed being a part-time employee for so long

I'm curious Chuck how tall are you?  I'm 5'4 and when I wear boots I'm almost flat footed on my bike.  I dont need a stool btw
