Pic woulda been way better if I took the jacket off the tank. Parked in front of Salt Lake on the way to WSBK/ SBK last year. Not as good as what I've seen here, but hey, it's in the wild.

Hey much in line with the idea behind this thread, I saw this on Ducati's web site. Seems they're working  with Davis Bull publishing on a book about the Monster.

is the construction done on ortega yet? I stopped going up there about a year ago after having to wait half an hour while they made it a one way road for the work being done..

Great road!  [thumbsup] I've only done it in a car a bunch of times, but I've always thought it would be great on a motorcycle. Unfortunately I moved away before I got one.

Sure is....its one of the best roads in this area to test yourself on, until you get stuck behind one of those cars. Then it feels like the longest ride ever.

about the wheels: when I first bought the bike, i wasn't digging the wheels too much. i wanted to look meaner and have them powdercoated in black. now i'm starting to dig these white wheels and loving them more everyday :)

Oh, and as for the cleaner for wheels. PJ1 super cleaner in the aerosol can. It wont damage anything (including paint and rubber) on your bike, but strips away damn near anything, such as the stickiest chain of lubes.
 And for the bicycle people, it is the best degreaser I have used...and I have gone through a lot. The one thing it does not work on is anything water based like sport drinks or gels, go figure,right?

I take pics of my bike with all sorts of random things I come across while riding. I have pics of it with giant ice cream cones, 50ft tall indians and cool looking diners. It's my hobby, my girlfriend thinks I'm crazy when I'm showing her the pics.

Don't get your hopes up.  All of the first series of pics were taken on a road called Tantalus.  It's pretty nice, with some really twisty bits, but is only about seven miles long.  And those seven miles are really the only sustained twisties that we have down here.

Thanks! Hopefully we can head back up there in a month when the weather turns good again. We took those in .... August? of last year, thats why there's so little snow. Timberline is at 6000 ft, the mountain is a little over 11,000 ft.

wasn't me. had those pics sent to me by the two guys on the road while i was at the shop. We got that Multi 1200S Touring set up with a nice bar mount Garmin 665 - they've called a few times from the road while they were riding from their helmets to tell us how it was going.

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but your tire is going to nail your safety inspection plate when the rear suspension compresses.

lol after that shot i was walking the bike backwards and i heard a bit of a rubbing sound and thats when i noticed it was alot closer then it was when i first relocated it there. i think when will was working on the bike he had to pull the exhaust  and that messed with the angle of the plate. but i bent it back out of the way and it should be all better now  [thumbsup]

Riding was fine.  Seeing the gauge however...not so much.  Didn't matter.  Gauge was only a tachometer and the bike had a rev limiter on it...

Gotta be careful though, once you hit 88mph the flux capacitor kicks in and we all know what happens then....

Thanks Brix.  It was a really easy mod.  But there was all this weird sound killing material in there.  I don't know why they'd do that so I'm running straight pipes now.  Although when I leave for work in the AM I have to push her around the block before starting up.

Interesting, my godson lives in Bensheim and I am therefore once or twice per year in that area.
I love to go around the Odenwald when I am there. Much more fun the roads and less speed monitoring compared to the north of Holland.

Thanks for the  [bacon] guys!  The whole concept of the bike was to be as basic as possible.  I need to update my signature with all my upgrades/mods.  I really haven't put a whole lot of $$ in to my Monster.  Just used a lot of time with the Dremel.  Measure twice, trace, and cut once is definitely my motto with my moto.

gh0stie/lswzabo - The helmet is an AGV Stealth with some decals I picked up from www.decal-orations.com (http://)  They're the reflective yellow color.  Having a dark I want to make sure I'm seen at night and still have a great looking color during the day.  With the yellow rear shock and lettering on the tires as the only other color on a dark I decided that'd be the scheme I was going for.

Thanks for the compliment spck.  I'm glad my bike is visually appealing to more people than me!   

there's a famous run down here, Johanneskreuz... but pretty heavily monitored on some parts. there is a turn people set up on screaming for pegs to scrape... I have not done the run. like having my license. plus my bike was not stock and they always check pipes etc for being stock there.

The fork reflectors are probably staying for a little extra visibility, but I gotta get around to taking the frame stickers off.

Might I suggest a couple/few bottles of acetone for that job!!

Thanks for the suggestions, I may have to look into getting some reflector tape for the wheels, and I definitely need acetone or something else to get the stickers off. My parents have a heat gun so I may just make use of that when I see them next.

The heat gun is a must. You'll need acetone or something like it (goo-be-gone) to get the sticky residue off after you get the stickers off.

Not *too* bad. The ride down was a breeze because it was late enough that there was no traffic coming the other way and no one in front of us. The ride up was a little freaky at times. The dirt portion was less scary than I thought it would be, but the lack of guardrail and the several thousand foot drops definitely had me puckering up a bit. :)

Halfway between the two.  The front end height (top of the top triple) of the new blue should be the same as what mine was stock, but with zero rise clip ons.  My bike had hi-rise clip-ons stock, but now I'm running zero rise with the triple height being 20 mm lower than stock as well.

IndustrialGrrrl, I've always loved looking at your bike since first seeing it back on TOB.  Beautifully done.  Spck31 is right, you should submit it for the BOM.

BTW - Just ran into some pix of it on Custom Fighters that I hadn't seen before.  Been a few changes over the years.  Nice shots of you on the track too.

I remember growing up and all the bikes had spoke wheels. the cool guys had upgraded to the new plastic magstyle wheels. now 30 yrs later... spokes are sooo cool aren't they ;)

Could you get the Alpina's in a 4.5 or did you have to go to a 5.5?

They're available in both sizes.  I went 4.5.  Didn't want to deal with the tighter fit of the 5.5, or any extra weight.  Plenty of grip for the way I ride on the 620, and should turn-in better as well.
