Title: EDIT: Sunday, June 22: 2nd Annual MUENSTER RUN
Post by: never2loud on May 19, 2008, 03:32:09 AM
UPDATE:

The ride is now set for Sunday morning, June 22.

UPDATE to the UPDATE:

New Start Time: meet at 9:00, leave at 9:30
New Meeting Place: Starbucks on 2499

Here's a link to the Starbucks - it's two minutes to the north of BPS :  http://tinyurl.com/5jw7nu

Meet at the Bass Pro Shops parking lot in Grapevine (it's the part of the parking lot that faces D/FW).  We will all leave together from there at 9:30.

It is one hour or so before the first fuel stop in Decatur, then another hour or so into Muenster.  It will be the same route we took last in the Fall last year.

I hope everyone can make it - should be a great day  [thumbsup]

Here's a list of people going so far (as of June 13th):

Lisa
Scott
Brian
Jim
Chris
Will
Barry
James
Alan D.
Billy (+ guest)

Well O.K. then, it's time for another Muenster Run.  The last one was a blast; we had over a dozen Ducatis (and one green bike...  [laugh] ).  I'm looking at the calendar and the rest of the weekends in May are already spoken for so we're into June

Here are the dates that work for me:

Saturday June 7
Sunday June 15
Sunday June 22
Sunday June 29

What date works best for you?  We'll try and plan it so that the most people can attend.

We'll also do a split-group section for a portion of the ride like we did last year with one group for the "Touring" folks (me  ;D ) and another group - "Sport" - for those that prefer an extra dollop of adrenaline with their ride.  The remainder of the ride will be like last year; at the speed limit or 5 over.

So, there's something for everyone, woo-hoo!  Try and make plans to attend: it's a full day of moto fun with your friends; German food, great bikes, and some great country back roads (O.K. maybe not 'great' but at least scenic  [laugh] )

Let's tentativley say that we'll meet in Grapevine at 9:30am (leave at 10), and be back in the metroplex by 4 or 5pm.

IT'S TIME TO RIDE!

Lisa

Achtung baby! I'm in. I will be out of town Monday/9th - Friday/13th so I'm for Saturday the 7th or the next Sunday the 15th. I agree with Scott, pray for a dry day and a seasonally cool one! Hell, it's supposed to be 97 today! Looking forward to this, nothing like a good group spin with a tasty pastrami and kraut "sami" and a hard to pronounce beer for lunch in German town! Hmmm, maybe a plate of brats... I've heard brats are good for 10mph on top end. Kinda like Patrick's Xerox sticker kit! [moto]

i *should* be okay with any of these weekends, i think.  we'll need to send out a sweeper crew with some pushbrooms on that one stretch of road with all of that gravel this time around.

I'd forgotten about that section of road. CJ's right... painful! Spent all my time watching Cory's 190 rear tire spew rocks at me like a M249 squad automatic that never ran dry! They all seemed to hit me square in the knee! Not one dinged off my boots... all in the knees. Good aim Cory! [laugh]

I'm in as long as it's a Sunday.  [thumbsup]

I'm gonna test out this "cool vest" I got last week if it's hot. It's one of those blue "bullet proof" looking things with ice pack pockets on the inside and a hydration pack in the back. Makes me look really fat in an Aerostich suit, but at least I'll be cool.... 8) ;D I couldn't pass up such a nice deal on it. It lists for $189. I got it for $50. :)

Let's give it until the end of the week before a date is set.

Thinking I might try and make a pre-run to Muenster late in the week (yeah it's more than a month away for the "big" group ride... so what?!?)

Anyone have the day off on Thursday or Friday?  Weather may not co-operate but any excuse to get out and ride  ;D

Lisa, I have an appointment at 10:45AM Thursday morning that I forgot about when we talked today. In addition to the appointment I may have that meeting with my brother. Not sure. Friday looks better as far as being open but as you said the weather might be a problem. I just checked the local TV station online forecasts as well as Accuweather and weather.com and most say 20% of afternoon showers. That's about the bare minimum chance, more so on Saturday than Friday. What day were you thinking about? If Thursday is a must I could change my appointment. Hey, sacrifices must be made sometimes in the name of a ride. [thumbsup]

Title: Re: Back by Popular Demand: 2nd Annual MUENSTER RUN
Post by: never2loud on May 20, 2008, 01:45:11 PM

Hey there Brian, I'd prefer Thursday but Friday is do-able.

I'm thinking of leaving from the Bass Pro Shops parking lot in Grapevine around 9:30am.  Hit the fuel stop in Decatur (James' Shell Station  [evil]  [laugh] ) then cruise on into Muesnter around lunch time.  Hit Doc's for the requisite German food (and a beer), then depending on time constraints, either cruise back the way we came on the back roads or just haul butt east outta Muenster on Hwy 82 till we hit I-35.  I think the earliest I'd be back to the Lewisville area would be 3pm; I'd for sure like to be back no later than 5.

It'll be the "typical" Muenster route.  Hopefully a good day of riding with some good food in the middle  [thumbsup]

Lisa, just back from the little league baseball game (yes! we lost! out of the playoffs, end of season!! yes!! OK, I didn't say that. OK? [evil]) and I will see what I can do about ditching my Thursday responsibilities tomorrow and free the day up for the ride. Your plan sounds good to me time wise and route wise. I am pretty sure I can alter my stuff by tomorrow. I will give you a shout on the board or PM you with details. I too would rather go Thursday. Have the neice's 8th grade graduation that night but Lord knows we'll be back by then. The GSXR1000 has had a nice "make over" and needs a good ride to make her happy so I am looking forward to it! [thumbsup] Talk at you manana.

Just replied to your PM and no sooner than I do I look at the weather again and BOOM rain back in the forecast for every single day for the next 5+ days! I hope they are wrong. That will sure mess up the holiday weekend for a whole lot of folks. I am making my sacrifices to the rain gods now so we stay dry tomorrow! [moto]

Yeah Brian, fun day on the bikes out there today.  A bit windy...  O.K. friggin' windy!

Did you see that video clip recently of a passenger plane trying to land in a massive crosswind?  I've never flown a plane before but the crosswinds were so bad on some open stretches, I found myself pouring on gobs more throttle just to bring the tail back around... Hmmm, and let's dial-in about forty more clicks of Ohlins damper... Yes.  Yes, that should just about do it...

Here's a thought, if we all can't go the same weekend why don't we do it twice in June. One on the middle weekend and another on the last weekend. Those lucky enough to do both are... well... they are lucky! [beer] A nice big group is cool but so is two smaller groups on separate weekends. It's a nice easy ride and a very pleasant lunch. If you are in a real hurry you can always take the boring slab home from Muenster like Lisa and I did last week. All I'm thinking is it's already hot and it will get hotter soon. The more rides we can get in before the blast furnace hits the better. I missed a lot of spins last year so I am in a make up mode. Talk amongst yourselves. [moto]

So that's the secret to a garage sale!  Did one years and years ago and clearly did not get the memo regarding the a/si  (alcohol per sale item).  We were severely deficient on the alcohol part of the equation and, subsequently, had a truly miserable time  [laugh]  Sold a lot of junk but what a crappy way to spend an otherwise nice day!

It's a ride, to a town of German ancestory, meaning German-type food and beer. That's why it's called the Muenster ride. Now why would anyone want to go to Sanger and eat at Babes (certainly nice home cooked type grub) when they can have groovy kraut food and beer in a town that makes you feel like you don't live in DFW? Hey, nothing against Babes. Personally, I think James misses the kids ride out front and is having withdrawls. [laugh] Either way, pastrami sandwich and unpronounceable foreign beer or make James happy... I'm good either way. [thumbsup] It's really all about the ride... German food is just a perk!

lisa it's the work garage sale. they close down the service areas at all the dealers and sell cars with huge discounts on them from all over the dealer. like f150 super crews for 18999 (going on now) or 11000 off navigators. stuff like that. it is a very very long three days. we (my family) don't garage sale we donate to goodwill twice a year.

I'm already thinking pastrami and kraut on rye with a Shiner Bock (or maybe something hard to pronounce) at Doc's!! I guess the Road of Rocks must be better. I didn't notice the pelting machine gun fire of gravel when I followed Lisa when we last rode up there. Maybe we knocked it all off the road on the ride earlier this year. [moto]

Rum? Probably not, you'll have to bring your own. Regular beer? Yeah, most likely. It's a cattle ranching/Barnett shale oil drilling community so there are lots of "anti-hard to pronouce" beer drinkers around. They should have plenty of the normal stuff plus a lot of shit I can't pronounce! [drink]

Yeah, it's going to be hot, fast or not. Lisa, we may want to start a little earlier than normal to beat some of the heat. Jeez, I can't believe I'm saying this... the self appointed King of Sleeping In! 8:30-9:00 maybe?? What time did we meet at BPS when you and I rode a few Thursdays ago? I've slept since then and have forgotten. Heat or not, still looking forward to this!

Well...if we can get the message out to everyone that we've changed the meeting point from BPS to Starbucks AND we've changed the meeting time from 9:30 to 9:00, I'm all for it.  Not sure how we'll know though if everyone got the message or not.

Guess we're all big kids now so here goes:

New Start Time: meet at 9:00, leave at 9:30
New Meeting Place: Starbucks on 2499 (See L'Smarts map link a few posts ago); two minutes to the north of BPS

The race went well. (thanks for asking) I placed 4th out of a field of about 40. RBM is sponsoring the races yesterday & today and they've set it up on a sweet .8 mile loop in the Wilson district. The course is nice and fast with 8 90 degree turns. Once again I'm finding my motorcycle skills coming into play. The high speed cornering confidence is giving me an advantage. Too many guys are wasting energy braking on the corners then hammering the exits. Why do that when you can coast on through at a consistent speed. I've got another race @ 1:00 today on the same course where I can hopefully hone my cornering even more.
BTW, I didn't stay to watch but Ben Spies won the cat5 race.

Congrats on the 4th yesterday! Hope you improve on it today! [thumbsup] You are right about the corner speed. Racing bicycles is a lot like racing 250GPs... corner speed is a huge plus. A good jump coming out obviously helps but what helps even more is gaining a couple of bike lengths going in and holding that speed through to the exit. Now it's obvious I ain't that fast on a scooter but I damn sure was faster on bicycles than a lot of guys that were clearly stronger than I was in a straight line. They just didn't corner as fast as they could sprint and they just never figured it out. Anyway, look forward to hearing some more good news about today's race.

ps   Guess Mladin didn't get to hook Spies out of the sprint? Maybe next race. [laugh]

Thanks Brian. Todays race I felt great and I was in good position; everything under control; got em just where I want em, then BAM!!! my seat breaks loose. I hi-tailed it back to the wheel pit for a quick fix before re-joining the pack only to find that the tension bolt that holds the seat rails sheared off. Luckily a teammate was there with a similar framed bike to lend. The officials let me catch on the back of the pack as they came around. Unfortunately his seat height was about an inch or two shorter than mine so I had a hard time getting accustomed to his setup AND keep my heart rate at a manageable level. I ended up pulling out an 8th place finish which will give me some TX cup points so it's all good. Yesterdays payout was $55 and I'll probably get $20 for the 8th place today so I made back my registration fees and gas! BONUS!  [thumbsup]

Cool man! Sorry for the mechanical malfunction. It's nice that they pay $$$ for catagories other than Cat1 these days. Used to be a win in Cat3-4 would get you a nice set of center pull brakes (do they still make those?) or set of Paris-Roubaix sew ups... which actually were pretty good. Some crits you could make more money winning prims and not even bother with placing on the podium. The old 4th of July criterium in Highland Park put on by Dallas Bicycle Racing Club was a good local prim payer... does DBRC even still exist? Will (no pun intended) have to check out one of your races. Let me know when the next ones are. Couldn't make this weekend's races.

Chris is right. It's no ball buster. Fast folks go fast and the rest do what feels good to them. It's a very cool group ride thing. All the "Troy Bayliss-istic" types always wait at the next direction turn intersection for everyone. No one gets left behind and forgotten. Ever. This is one of the best groups I have ever ridden with. Usually a seasoned rider rides "sweep" as the last rider to make sure everyone is accounted for. Please, to all that won't go out of concern of being "left behind" don't worry about that. We take very good care of our own. Come. Ride. Enjoy! [moto]

Actually, when Lisa and I rode it about a month ago the road was much better. In fact I didn't notice any gravel at all and I followed Lisa the whole trip. Either we blew them all off the road the last time or the 18 wheelers did. But considering the oil rig trafffic due to the Barnett Shale drilling any of those roads could be junk now due to the truck pounding.

1niceputt, I think there is a link a page or two back on this thread to the Starbucks. It's just north of BPS. PM Lisa/Cher for the street info, she lives very near there. Glad you can make it. It's a fun easy ride... it will be hot but it's a good excuse to get out of the house and go to Muenster and have lunch and a beer. Oh yeah, and hang out with the mob! [thumbsup]

Good work Cher!! She's right, this place rocks and they take really good care of us. [thumbsup] Good old fashioned small town service with a smile. Wow, there menu on their website does not do them justice. Where is all the German food? It's on their menu in real life, they need to update and change their online menu.

FYI I'm bringing a flat tire fixin' kit in my mini tank bag. Plug kit, CYCLE PUMP electric inflator, CO2 adaptor and a hand full of 16gm cartridges. If anyone has an extra plug kit please bring it. I'll handle the heavy duty stuff. I have a good plug kit but it did not like Scott's Michelin on the Ark. trip. Finally Alan tried his plugs (different brand and style) and that worked. It was very frustrating for Scott to have his tire constantly deflating. If we bring it we won't need it... or so the theory goes.

PS  Don't forget to set your TIVO for the British MotoGP on SpeedTV at 3:00pm! Very important! I'm pumped to see Ben Spies in his MotoGP debut, hope he does well... maybe top 10! [thumbsup]

Reality note: Lots of semi new folks and some of their friends are going on this ride, please bring a few "emergency contact" notes to hand out to folks at Starbucks. Have your full name, your contact person(s) name and their home and cell #s on the notes. Just think, what if you didn't really know me and I crashed bad in front of you and the EMS or cops asked you who I was or who to contact? Don't ask me how I know.

My first ride with this group.

First, I'd like to say "thanks" to everyone who helped make this happen, from Point to Sweep.   [clap]

Second, this is such a friendly, interesting group, I can't wait till the next time.  I think I enjoyed the pre-ride gathering as much as the ride itself.

Third, it was a hoot riding faster than I generally ride (great route!), especially opening up The Beast on several occasions - God, that ST3 is strong!   [moto]

I wish I could have managed to stay with the tour all the way to Muenster, but I had a family affair scheduled at one.  Next time.

Again congrats and thanks to Lisa and Alan for MCing the show and kudus to the mob for once again being a cool, heads up, safe group to ride with. No bone head manuevers... always a plus! Sorry I couldn't make the whole ride... but did get to buzz from LYD's to the Starbucks meet-up spot, have a cup of joe -and still make it home 15 minutes before the A/C service truck pulled up.

Looks like it was a fun run.
No drama from what I've heard -that makes it a success!

This was my first ride with the group and it was awsome! HOT,HOT,HOT, but very enjoyable. Thanks Lisa and Alan for organizing the ride. It was just the right pace for me. :) It was also great finally meeting everyone else. I'm bad with names, but after a few rides, I'll get to know everyone. Great bunch of folks you guys are. [thumbsup]

On the other hand, the other group I ride with apparantly didn't have as good a time as we did. This is a quote from their ride today:

"Warning....Stay away from New Hope. The sheriff's department isn't playing around. We passed 3 sheriff's department patrol cars on 2933 - one of which had someone with a black R6 pulled over. The trailing cars passed our group, one turned around and rapidly caught up to us, followed for a few miles and eventually pulled us over on 545.

We were told that a call had been placed complaining that we were riding recklessly and endangering others as well as ourselves. Absurd!!  For those of you who are LEOs on the board, I'm sorry, but don't make broad-sweeping assumptions. The sheriff said that typically he would arrest us for reckless endangerment, but he was going to let us off this time with a warning.

We were told that the sheriff's department will patrol those roads and if you are seen on the roads that they will stop you, take you to jail and impound your bike.

Time for a new route. "

Oh well, I hope we don't run into those "reckless riders" anytime soon.

Pics of todays ride to come soon!

Another great group ride; y'all are the best  [thumbsup]  I can't get over the turnout... 20 at Starbucks this morning and 17 for lunch in Muenster (minus George, Rich and Billy).  Great fun and even better company!  I  hope everyone can make it to the next one.  Sounds like a Stephenville/Glenrose Run could be in the works in the Fall.. Woo-Hoo  [evil]

Have a great week!

Hey dammit, I rode with the fast guys for awhile... of course I had to run it to an indicated 162 to catch back to Ashok after being stuck behind the RV trailer from hell. Hell, how bad could my day be when I get to say that? Old fart my ass! [laugh] The old Gixxer loved it, nice day, hard run, lots of young Italian bikes to hang with... good day for the bike too! [moto] Like owner like bike!!

Again, just another freaking great day with the mob, no troubles, lots of folks, lots of great new folks to meet who will hopefully be seen again soon! I don't think we ran off any new folks, I certainly don't think so... hope not. Please, all of you join us again, don't be bashful. What a great, diverse, cool group of folks to hang with on an otherwise boring, hot June day in TX! Beats the hell out of mowing the lawn or washing the car! :P But damned if I can't get those chicken strips off those new Michelins. Guess I'll have to let the fast guys take her for a spin! [laugh] Need to stay out of the "touring" group!! [drink]

yes jim he wasn't after us he wanted the g6 that went by like a bat outta hell. although for a minute i thought.........."razim frazim f#*!n sh#!"

Short answer:  I didn't bail.

Long answer:  As he came up behind me/us, lights flashing, I pulled into the right lane (not knowing if he was coming to pull us/me over, or go after someone else).  So, I pulled in to the right lane between an 18-wheeler and car.  As LEO passed me, he "blipped" me with his siren about 2 or 3 times.  That made me think he may be trying to send me a message like, "I'm going up ahead to pull over all your buddies, but I expect you to stop too."  So, I stayed in behind the 18-wheeler as LEO passed him and headed on up towards yall,  I kept an eye out to see if he was pulling you guys over.  By the time I could tell he wasn't pulling ya'll over, I got stuck behind the 18-wheeler, and by the time I got around, you guys were so far ahead, I didn't feel like doing 100 to catch up.

However, I did exit on Basswood (a few exits north of 820), and found myself about 300 yards behind '1niceputt'.  But he never saw me - again, too much traffic to get caught up to him before he disappeared into a neighborhood off Basswood.

Was a fun day!  Safe and ticket free!  [thumbsup]

Looks like a greg time. Wish I coulda made it. So jealous.

wished i was there for this, too.  after a test flight in the early AM, i decided to call a checkfire and bring it back up to the loft for a reevaluation.  the front brakes were going from mushy to grabby...they were undependable to say the least.  the rear is also dragging significantly.  upon a check of alignment the rear seemed to be a bit off, so i adjusted its position side-to-side as well as diagonal.  i also had a wheel weight loose inside my front tire, which i fished out yesterday (i'm getting good at this DIY tire stuff).  i then wanted to double check my rear, and found a bit of a gap between the sprocket carrier and the wheel...so i'm waiting to hear if that it acceptable or not.

looks like a great time, though...i'm going to get everything figured out shortly and will hopefully be seeing most of you soon.

Lisa , Alan, & everyone - thanks for a great time yesterday!  I really enjoyed the route, all the great help spotting and avoiding the hazards, the Doc's break in the middle, all the conversations, and the unbelievable thrill of being part of the spectacle of riding in such an awesome group!  This was as close as I'll ever get to living that Brando Wild One fantasy that I've had since, well since movies were in B&W !!  Even though I was in the back of the pack seeing the heads turn, the horses run away from the noise, etc. I got the full on hooligan charge  ;D ;D ;D!!!

I was even more impressed by what didn't happen on the ride - nobody hurt, no breakdowns, no tickets  [thumbsup], no real reckless behavior, AND nobody (me) left behind - thanks Fastwin for helping me find LBJ on the way home - yeah I grew up here but I still get lost!

I hit a new top speed on this bike of just over 100 when I passed the Harley dude on the way back to Decatur at about 6500 RPM  [clap]!!

So thanks again everyone - since the 97 Beemer GS 5th top gear ratio is 1.45  :P OR about 3RD GEAR for a 1098 Duc  [evil] sometime I'll lead & everyone will just have to to promise  ;) not to use 4th gear or higher  [cheeky] [cheeky] [cheeky]!

The moral is : Even stock.. DUCS ROCK & you DMF'ers ( sounds wrong somehow  ??? ??? ) are the BIG DAWGS !

This was by far one of the best rides I've been on so far. Great group, awesome food, great roads and no COPs ;D.. what more could you ask for?..

I got stuck too close to that RV and was unable to see beyond in order to pass it.. and certainly did not want to keep slamming the brakes and pushing everyone behind.. I am glad you guys passed me and eventually we all got over it in time to enjoy the road ahead!..

Glad to see all the familliar faces and of course enjoyed meeting the newbies of the group.. You guys should stick around, this is a great group of folks!

Last but certainly not least, Lisa.. thanks so much for your efforts. It was a well planned and that showed. From here on out I'd like to propose that we all buy lunch/drinks for the organizer(s)... What do you guys think?

Have a great week..

Cheers

Ashok

I'm really glad everyone had a good time yesterday - we did too  [thumbsup]

Just as a sidenote on the cooling vest I had on yesterday; if anyone is interested in getting on of these, here's my take on it:

I'd rate this vest as a 10 out of 10.  It made a huge difference on the ride yesterday; my only "complaint" was that it dried out too fast (after about 2 -2 1/2 hours...  I'm sure it had nothing to do with being 100 degrees and the occassional high-speed wind blast thrown in just for good measure   [evil]  ).

The good news is, you can re-soak the vest under a faucet anytime and you're totally back in business, which in this case was after the 2 hours or so it took to get to Muenster/restuarant, then again on the final return leg of the trip in Decatur.

Another good thing about the vest is that the water stays in the vest material so that when you take the vest off, you don't have completely soaked clothes.  Weird stuff in that vest for sure but whatever it is really works - worth it's weight in gold.

Lisa

Barry,

What Sheriff's Office was that? Jeez, they're gonna stop you, arrest you, take you to jail and impound your bike for what???... riding a legal, licensed vehicle on a public thoroughfare at posted speed??? Maybe if you were hauling ass threatening locals and livestock, but just for being there? That's crap! I've heard of New Hope but can't place where it is. That sounds like good old fashioned redneck cop harrassment to me. Makes me want to get some of my District Attorney, defense lawyer and Judge friends to follow me in a car with cameras while I peaceably ride up and down the road to see if they pull me over for being on a bike. [leo] Maybe they'll do to those roads like they did on 455 between Celina and Anna where they banned bicycle riders only this time they'll ban scooters! Imagine a country road where you cannot ride on a bicycle? I guess motorcycles could be next? :P As the thread says "That's Bullshit!" ;D

PS  Barry, good to meet you and your Kawi buddy! Please tell me his name again, I'm a dope with names sometimes and please tell him he is more than welcome back anytime. You're both are good riders and good guys! [thumbsup]

Man I could tell this morning that I rode all day in the heat! A little stiff and thirsty. Slept like a rock though. I had the house to myself (Jen was catching a movie with a friend), watched my TIVO'd Brit MotoGP race, had some spicy Thai food and a HUGE top shelf marg! [wine] Damn near fell asleep on the couch but somehow found the bedroom, don't even remember Jen coming home. Perfect end to a killer day! [moto]

I think it is the Leonard PD that is getting aggressive. Apparantly there are some squidly riders that frequent that area and the police end up profiling anyone on a sport bike. From what I hear, the people living there are calling the police about the bikes. [roll]

had a fun time riding with you guys to Muenster. Update on the residue on the zx10.... sorry i'm bad with names, but when the S4 infront of me hit the patch of gravel, it kicked one into my radiator and caused a pretty bad leak... new radiator $850 from the dealer.... talked themn down on it some... and i've got a cox guard on the way... down time... approx 2 weeks so i'll be itching to get back on the bike asap...

DG Dragon Slayer:  Glad you found the board and thanks for riding with us  [thumbsup]  Very sorry to hear about your damaged bike though.

As far as "sweeping the route" on a recon run - Brian and I had a chance to run the route a couple of weeks before and it was clear then - honest.  Not only that, the really horrible corner on 407 that I was talking about had actually been re-paved during that time.  Who woulda thunk it  :P  This has got to fall into that old, "Best Layed Plans..." category, damn it.

You did a great job organizing this.   [clap] I was just razzing ya.  ;)  The fact that you did pre-ride the route and scope out the bad spots is awesome.  It made for a great ride without any major surprises (unlike the HC ride's 8 miles of gravel road on 337 before entering Leakey  [puke] )

its ok.. i'll send you the bill...

and i do have a cox guad on the way... too little too late... it didnt sound right but the kawi dealer actually says there isn't one available for it... dumbasses...

funny story....
i'm a member of lockhart phillips privateer race group... so i had a LP catalog...anywho. cycle gear never got their 2008 book. since i'm not racing, i took my book to them so they'd have a current one. when i told them about the radiator issue, he was shocked i didnt have a cox guard and i told him what kawi told me... he says "bullshit" and opens the catalog i just handed him and points to it ... and was kind enough to order one for me...

ofcourse if i had kept up with my account at LP i would have been able to get it at cost... but oh well..

I've given serious thought to getting some of those Cox rad/cooler guards for some of my water pumpers. You may have now convinced me. Of course it's curious how travelling at 125+++ seems to have a direct connection with the probability of rock punctures on radiators and coolers. Hmmm, puzzling evidence. [laugh]
