Title: ***SOLD*** 2004 Triumph Daytona 600
Post by: Samsonite on September 21, 2009, 06:49:21 AM
First $1000.00 takes it

I just threw some Michelin Pilot Power 2ct's on the Triumph Daytona 600.  Got it back from Eurosport a couple days ago.  It runs well.  I rode it from Eurosport to my house....  I'll sell it to you with the tires, extra motor/tranny/wire harness, Uninstalled K&N oil filter and a gallon of Repsol Full synthetic 10w50 race oil and a gallon of coolant for $1000.00  It will make a great track bike.   I have more than that in it...  Lemme know.   Clean title too....

Tommy,

Didn't you just get that bike recently as a project? Obvious change in plans. Do you have your eye on something else? [popcorn]

I've been riding ecr, tws and msr lately and I've come to the realization that trying to learn how to ride 2 totally different bikes on 3 totally different tracks wouldntbe wise.  I'm getting a lot better on my supersport, I think adding another bike would slow my progress.  Plus everytime I go to the track it's about $250+, doing that 2-3 times per month leaves little money to fix up the Triumph....

I can certainly understand the $$$ part of that. Projects are hard on the wallet these days no matter what our good intentions are. Hopefully someone soon will pick up the torch and run with it. [thumbsup] Looks like a fun fixer upper for cheap! [moto]

Dude, in your opinion, how much $$$ would I have to invest to get to a "street riding-level"? ... to fix it up... I almost got an S4R for $1600.00 to fix up, but everything was broken and needed to be replaced  [bang] - so I just let it go... I do want a faster bike, but the $$$ is short:-)

The Triumph is in working order, I would just replace all the fluids (oil, coolant, brake)and plugs before tracking it.  It is set up like a streetfighter right now.  Tires are excellent track/Street tires with 90% center tread and 70% side tread left.  I would do new internals on the front and replace the rear spring, if not the rear shock all together.  I would probably upgrade the front pads too....  But this bike could be track ready (beginner) after a good tune up....

goddamn! I dont go to the track!  [roll] (if you haven't figure it out already)  [cheeky] I want a faster bike for the streets... $1000.00 sounds good, but to take it to the streets [moto]? I tend to trust people in (certain groups) for a repair-replace values. So if you can tell me the amount, I would appreciate it greatly [beer]

Plastics $800
Oil Change $0.00 (comes with a gallon of Repsol Full Synthetic oil and K&N oil filter
Flush Coolant $0.00 Comes with Gallon of Coolant
Bleed brakes $4.00

After that, it would just be whatever you wanted to do to upgrade the existing parts

T, you always mention the tranny separately from the engine on this bike. Are they not all together in the engine case?  It would be weird for them to be separate units, especially on a sportbike.

bike runs well.  Like Samsonite says, just needs complete fluid flush, spark plugs, brake pads, and a good bit of cosmetic work.  I would have bought it if I wasn't set on tracking a v-twin.

I dont understand those 3 posts, they went right over my head....  But to save the drama, I'll just post the pics when I get them.  Whats colors of paint should I buy for them?

The frame sorta looks similar to an Aprilia. Then you could put some Aprilia decals on it and no one would ever know. right? well ok, maybe not.  [roll]

Great buy Tommy!! [thumbsup] How'd you get it so cheap? That bike should be worth a lot more than $3K. That's a deal. Too bad it isn't a 750. That's the best of both worlds. Handles like a 600 but with the punch of a bigger bike but not scary fast 1000cc punch. I've never tracked it but I love my '05 Gixxer 750, it's set up just like my 1000. Great scooters.

OK, now back to your normal broadcast Ducati programing. [laugh]

T, for sure post some pics of the kid's art work. That would be fun. [clap] [popcorn]

Salvage title, he low-sided it at Oak Hill and claimed it on his insurance.  So I got a "track bike" (no original fairings or lights).  Doesn't bother me, all I wanted was a cheap good track bike.... But I still think I got a decent deal....

A recent article in Visordown magazine went through the process of bikes once they are stolen. In this instance a guy's bike was stolen and he got it back 5 years later....un-ridden for the most part. What the thieves do is to sell the paper to the bike and frame numbers to someone who wants a street/stolen bike registered and legal. In return another bike is 'created' (aka track bike) which is sold (via salvage title after insurance pays off) as a track bike. In essence there are now two bikes that can be legally registered. Some of the bikes were traced to WSK in Europe. Crafty vermin those thieves!  [leo]

I know....any suggestions?  Ohlins kits are about $1700 for front, and $1400 for the new rear....  Granted, I'll have a very capable track bike for just over $6000, but do I have other options?

Talk to the owner Kevin and tell him who you are and what you did for him. Then ask him about the suspension work he does for most of the CMRA top level riders. The cost will astound you compared to Ken Ohlins' parts.

Tom get your self a TTX for the rear and Revalve the front with either traxxtion or racetech, piper is good but usally busy... but he knows about suspensions...

Get a good damper too... stock ones suck, this is the same damper as my GSXR1000... If you have extra money get the Brembo Calipers Sold piece Cast like the 1098 ones i think they cost around 1000 for a pair but they work as you know... lLate GSXRs have weak brakes... and you have to play with brake pads, master cylinders, brake lines and finally calipers to get good braking from the first to the last lap... usally those brake fade a lot by the end of the day...

if you dont want to spent money on calipers get a Brembo Master brake lines and Brembo or Carbon Loraine pads..

Metrictech.net and ask for Dean and tell him Dax sent you.  He's in McKinney but was AMA National Tech Director and Tech inspector at Bonneville Flats along with AMA ProStar Tech Inspector.  He's the only guy I trust with my bikes and knows his shit.
