Man, I've got to work tomorrow or I'd be all over this one  :'(

I did see though that on March 20th (next Saturday) AMS will be having the new Multistrada Open House from 12-2.  I'm going to make that one for sure.  The weekend after that (the 28th) they've got a WSBK race watch  8)

YES!

I'll be manning the grill for awhile - and the new Corse Edition bikes look phenomenal. Comes with termi slipons and the badass aluminum tank.

No way. The 1198 S Corse is above the 1198 S. It goes for a few grand more. ($24-25ish). Worth it if you are already spending the cash to get the lightweight Corse tank and great paint scheme (much better than the Hayden LE imo). Termi slipons still aren't a full system though... (Though I'm sure you can sell the termi slipons quickly to another 1098/1198 owner to upgrade to the full system).

Too much money IMO
I did see them at the motorcycle show and they look great but damn that's expensive

Aftermarket aluminum tanks run a bit over $2,000. That means special paint, limited edition numbering, and termi slipons for the remaining $1,000. Seems priced fairly reasonably in line with the standard 1198 S.

An LE numbered plate on the triple clamp probably costs a buck. I do like paint scheme and alloy tank. Nice look.

But the sentimentality is worth a fortune (to some).

To me, its a better looking special edition than the Hayden LE, and is an upgrade over the regular model, so its more relate-able to a Bayliss LE 1098 R.

number plate?  I could care less for those unless I'm buying a Tamburini F4 or a Cedici.  My opinion is Ducati is missing a point here.  If they want to make more than the "reported" 30,000 bikes a year then they better become more economical.  Don't get me wrong, I love Ducs and always will but there's a point where I pull the plug personally.  That said I know these bikes are a rarity for most and a dream for many, and I like being part of that dream, but the market wont be there forever especially during the credit crunch years to come.  If boutique is their future then I'm all for it, really I am but I'll ride mine until the wheels rust off if that's the case.

It takes both kinds of machines to keep the boutique dream alive, the monsters and 848's  and Hypers etc. that are attainable, and then the halo machines that we can hope to work up to,or at least share showroom space.  As long as they keep the mix broad, and the keep some soul in all the bikes, I'll keep coming back  [thumbsup]

I wish them luck, I seriously do. I'd love to see a couple of the new Corse bikes at every stop light. I know they are awesome bikes for sure but I don't care. I hit my rev limiter a while back with the bikes I already have... especially in this economy. IF I wanted one of the new alloy tank wonders I would have to sell the very soul of my bike collection. The carbon and steel beauties, the 916SPS and 996S, the Back in Black S1000, the 999 and probably the Sato/Ohlins'd RC51 Hayden Replica. For one bike? Hmmm... let me think for a minute. NO. I love the scooters I own, I don't need anything else. How much better looking can a bike be than a Duc Tamburini? Maybe a couple in my opinion. The only tracion control I need is a speed limit sign and a cop with a radar gun.

Again, I wish Ducati and all Ducati dealers a great future but I'll watch from the side lines and admire the rolling stock go by.

muskrat, you idiot!! how much did that elictra ultra classic softtail wide glide piece of crap cost you? 30k plus 5k in upgrades. so your cut off is 35k. pretty sure ducati will always have bikes under 35k that you will want.

told by a wise man i know: 1%er.......... not just a patch but also a throttle position!

so 15k is your cut off! lets see......monsters, hyper, 848, sc, new multi and thats just off the top of my head. all cheaper new than the hardley. you are the one missing the point. ducati is telling people what they want to hear in these tough times. "cheaper to own." deep down they don't want to have abunch of idiots on their products. they like the family man, the upper middle class guy and the rich crowd. the same way way bmw, porsche, ferrari any "high end" does. the key is to KEEP THEM WANTING!! this way the owner's are proud of the product they have and tell all about how  their's is the shit. not some b.s. stamped out of an assembly copycat. that way those that can afford it buy it and continue to buy them. those that can't afford them drool!

nope not my cutoff just what I paid.  spent hours and hours until they caved; eventually they all cave especially when they are near bankruptcy.  anyWHO, my barca lounger is great and the wife loves it so she's family now.  my cutoff is unfortunately not sensible as I'm an impulse buyer and eat my own shit time and time again  [bang]  I mean, look what the wife is driving after I said NO NO NO NO.  [coffee]

Yup. Has speedymoto bling, Fleda tail light from Pak Bikes, CRG LS mirror. Really a clean, well done bike.

i'd definitely own it. my only change might be moving to 4-pot brembo's since the sport classics came with the 2pot black brembos on 300mm rotors.

I heard there was a clearance problem adapting the better calipers to the Sport 1000/PS bikes due to the stock spoked wheels and there had to be some machine shop work done on the brake calipers to make them clear. I considered that on the Back in Black but the bang for the buck wasn't there for me. Jeff Nash also wanted to install the "coffin" reservoirs off of the 999 series (which is an upgrade) but they wouldn't clear properly since I had to swap over to the factory "comfort" bars for all the obvious reasons. [bang]

Yes, the radial pumps on the 999 are superior.

for Brembo equipment
Any axial master < oem radial masters < cast gp radials < billet gp radials
New RCS system is the replacement of the GP.

Upgrades to Spiegler, ABM and other billet radials fall somewhere between cast GP's and billet GP's. The ISR masters are on the higher end, along with Beringer. They offer kind of a lot of options from integrated (coffin) or remote reservoirs and even switch sets built into the clamp.
