Excusez-moi, but we are talking at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours one way going the high road even at the pace you ride.

You might see the gang from PJ's along the route because they are doing their anniversary group ride through the Jemez tomorrow morning.  Leaving PJ's at 9AM, through the Chevron up there in Bernallio around 10 or 10:30ish I believe the email said.  I am so tempted to do that with them, but I know how I usually feel after work on Sunday mornings.  It's hard to get energized enough to even ride up to Coffee at Dawn at that point.  You guys have fun and hit the curves hard.

With the Termi system Bonfy had installed on this thing it's amazing to me how hard it pulls. I remember riding it for the first time back when she first got it. I thought to myself it was a wonderfully balanced bike. Agile, light and very flickable, if somewhat less powerfull than my old 1100. The bike felt just a wee bit under powered in stock trim, but was still an absolute joy to ride and I grinned every time I thought of it for weeks. The ECU, airbox, and exhaust have really improved the motor performance. Between the light weight and increased hp/lbs the only minor flaw I percieved has largely been erased. I know everyone loves the bigger Monsters, but for street riding even at super legal speeds this thing makes plenty of power(IMO). I was able to run it up well into triple digits without running out of motor. Fantastic ride, every now and then I think I'll prolly step up...... then I think nope, I got a little girl to raise and a wife to love, this is plenty o power. Besides after riding squid style for so many years, I'm at a point in my riding where I'm seeking more finesse and less sledge hammer. Anyone can whack a throttle open and fly in a straight line I want to practice being smooth, this bike makes it easy.  [moto]

Had my first few rides around KY hills and by OH river...sore back...too many straight roads...There are twisties and I have to go dig them out...Soon, I'll have some green pictures posted! Miss NM big time though!.... :-[

I am uber-happy, JJ!   It was unbelievable riding up Ute Pass and over to Deckers with WDB on the Dragon and me on the Paladin.  (And Cooleye on whatever he calls his Monster).  It was surreal and I'd never have believed it if someone told me that would be happening a year ago.  I probably would have skipped the trip to the tanning bed that fateful afternoon last November and just handed over the bike.   ;D

Hope you are getting adjusted to your new world over there in Kentucky.  New Mexico misses you, too.  Post pictures soon.

WannaDucBad and I are heading out around 1PM for the Northern Regions.   We'll be taking 285 up through Salida, then on HWY 50, we'll split with him heading east  for Colorado Springs and me heading west toward Gunnison.  If anyone wants to join us they are welcome.

That makes two of us, Girlie!  Too much straight time for mine, too.  There's tons of twisties in Colorado, but those long stretches still square 'em off fast.  I was planning on a Jemez run on Sunday myself, but may need a couple hours sleep after my shift so that would put us into the weather zone.  Rain good, lightning bad.  As Sunday gets closer, I'll know better.  For sure some Crest runs though.    [bacon]

Well, I'll be heading to Colorado but a little more east than that.  I found out my friends in Utah are out for the weekend (Las Vegas), so I've reversed my route.  I'll be heading up through Alamosa to a Sat night stay at Great Sand Dunes NP.  Then it's on to Black Canyon near Montrose, then Flaming Gorge, then Tetons and Yellostone.  The return trip down through Salt Lake City by next weekend.  Hope to be on the road by 9 AM Saturday.  Y'all have fun playing around in the local sandlot.  Keep an eye out for this guy, too  [leo].  Ride hard.  Ride safe.  And above all  [moto] [moto] [moto] [thumbsup]  Bring the  [bacon] home safe.  That's my plan, anyway.

Was great to run into Kingbaby during my Crest rides this morning, truely enjoyed the company [thumbsup]
You might hear about a crash that happened during my third run.
Looks like a group of young riders on Japanese sports bikes and dressed in fabric were riding together when one layed his bike down. He was already on the stretcher when I came by and all I could see was a knee that was badly scraped. It looked like a low speed event and I hope he is ok. Me and an other guy escorted the ambulance down the mountain. :'(

 I was heading north with the other Hooligans, when my new, very cool integrated tail light / signals kit decided to cook itself.  No turn signals ?  no prob.  no lighting & high chance of rain ?  ... naaaa.
I do rememeber those cats flyin up the hill when we were coming down.  Bad things can happen to any of us.
 But, #1 Ride within ____ .

The camera is working great now.  Still recording in around 80% or so speed. But we were riding into the sun, and it was still focusing very quickly.

 Looked awesome to me!  I have been trying to visualize how to get off the seat and get the kneedrop going myself.  I can pop my knees and get my chin over the handgrip, but I can't seem to make my butt actually leave the saddle.  I need to break the saddle barrior and get under the bike. 

If you teach me the 'chin over the handgrip' I'll teach you the butt slide ;D

hey kingbaby..how did you get that first shot?  was the camera on vid or did you do somehow switch it to take stills during the ride?

My ride never materialized.  It turned out to be a pipe dream.  [cheeky]  I set my alarm wrong and got a late start so just played catchup and watched Nascar today.  I did a 2 hour hike up Embudo Canyon later and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

I have a big trip coming up next weekend that I need to save every micrometer of rubber for to make it there  and back without splitting a seam.  Those gravel roads in Colorado caused my tires some premature aging.  I'll probably just do a little around-town riding to keep the seat warm.   

When you turn on the power it's default setting is still shots, one more click of the power button is every 5 sec shots, one more & its video.
You can change the setting if you want it to always take video when you turn the power on..  Also remember to check your setting for auto shut off timer. 
I have mine for 120sec.  If its not a high# you're trying to take vid with the power off.  I will power off & on every once in a while just to make sure.  Crest road for example.  Trial & error baby.  Just don't forget you still have to ride your bike. 

So I went to Salt Lake City last weekend... going to Twin Falls Idaho this weekend.  Going up 550 from Aztec to Ridgeway then back down by telluride and over La Sal to moab then up.  Any takers for the first part of the ride?

Friday afternoon-ish.  Lighting off from Aztec at about 6 pm (get off work at 5).  And yeah, up over red mountain etc to ouray then ridgeway.

On your riding, I have been following "kiss the mirror" principle...but mostly keeping upper frame very relaxed lets your body swing by the wrist right & left including the butt, pivoting points being totally the toe ball! Works easier on the superbikes I guess since those seats are not designed to rest! :) I manage to swing across my 600+ pound cast iron 1972 Water Buffalo and get some sparks off the exhaust sometimes...

Recently, I managed to get literally beside the Duc and it looked like we were going parallel to the same place!

I'm crazy, you ride excellent! I miss the crest...Don't ever leave NM!

Dusty, Vivaleduc, DDGM & I are riding high road to Taos, via Sipapu - Angel Fire - Palo Flechado pass.  If any of you Gangstas are up for " less talkin more rockin ", we are leavin from Sandia Casino gas station @ 9.  Zaster & cupcake are busy trying to prepare for indian market & Ratfink is working a car show {which would be cool ta' check out @ Hoffman town center), and, well, sweet little Ducmouse has a deadduc & bum leg.  we had a great day at the movies with her today.  Godecs bike is still in the hospital,  Bonfy & Kawboy are out riden' lifes highway.   So i guess what im trying to say is, if you can make it come on !

not feeling great, bad back if you were going N14 I would consider going part way....but probably should take it easy, not feeling great......If I m not there have fun  [thumbsup]

Sunday,  342 mls. with great friends,  1 giant parade in Penasco,  wide open mountain passes,  awesome lunch @ the Taos inn,  4 rockin' motos.  Not one drop of rain.    No pics, no vids.   I guess it didn't happen.

Sturgis at night is just one big strip club.  I have no doubt the bartenders were dancers from the surrounding strip clubs.  I boiled Lance for an hour to clean him up.

I do, but the NMMR moderator would probably step in and confiscate them so why I don't I just pm you with them directly.  Same girl as the one tongueing Lance, only I didn't notice she had rearranged her top gear.  Shortly thereafter she tried to feel ME up. :o   Glad all my zippers were zipped or I would've been worried about my wallet.  Also custom bikes that were pretty cool and the Boss Hog.  I'll post those, but pm you the naughty girl shot. 

Funny you should ask about the "night life" shots.  I didn't see the blatant saluting I expected, but it was Monday night.   I certainly wasn't running around poised to take pictures of biker mama's ta ta's. It was the bar help that were completely out there.  I saw one gal with a full body tatt and she wasn't wearing anything.  Another girl in pasties that looked about 12 years old (general consensus among the guys I was with).  And me, of all people, was asked by a gal right after I arrived if she could take a picture of me with my bike.  I let her, of course.  Then she asked if I did boobie shots.  I told her "Look at the bike, its a Ducati, not a Harley".

Thank you sir.  I do all the design & some fab work, but to pull off bikes of the caliber of the first three it takes many types of skills.  The third bike that I am riding, won the Easyrider world tour & has been on the cover of many magazines.  That bike is now owned by TJ the parts Mgr. at PJ's  The forth bike was a dare,stock 1980 Honda CB750 from the junkyard & seven days to build, mount a turbo & then go to Bonneville. Thats a two person, 3 bottles of tequila & 2 grand bike. then it sucked a valve, now it has 3 grand in motor upgrades.   I'll never learn  ;D

20.0 miles Door to door of the most boring straight roads we have in ABQ for me!  Today was my last day riding for a while.. About to blow the bike into a zillion pieces and perform the 6k service.. Damn the valve checks, Belt replacements, fluid swaps and other miscellaneous crap.

Yeah, Its a little more "monster" but its entirely unridable, few more parts to come off then I'll be checking those valves, replacing the timing belts and whatever else is deemed necessary every 6000 miles (2 yrs on the belts, sad day) Who knows.. Maybe I'll finally fab up an exhaust system a little more worthy of a Duc... Cause the 25lb monstrosity of a muffler is just too damn heavy and.. well.. muffling.

Doin the 6k service...  hopin and prayin the valves are all within spec...  the S is like the R's.. special tools for the collets that I dont have, and Head removal necessary for the adjustment process..  one day at a time...  I'm glad its getting cold but I still wanna ride damnit.

Alright carl come by, you want to start earlier? 9? Do you know the high road to Madrid? some very cool curves but sort of near the end as you get to N14. I40 E to edgewood exit 187, then 344N until it hits N14. Alittle different than usual, maybe get coffee in Madrid instead.

I would join, but this is my long work week.  Just got off and must work tonight.  Tomorrow I am going to do the toys for tots run, simply because I've never done one of those before.  I know it will probably be mostly Harley hogs, but there could be a sizeable Ducati contingent, even though I wouldn't be one of them, but that's besides the point.   ;D

Was at PJ's the other day and did stalk your house on my way to Homo Depot. The Palladin looked fine, sleeping under the porch.  [bacon]  [bow_down]

Actually, that was the Dragon sleeping under the porch.  WannaDucBad is in residence at the Palace so his steed gets the stairwell.  My Paladin is in the storage unit a few blocks away.  At least I know he is out of the weather and out of reach from the crackheads.  The Dragon is fierce enough not to need any extra protection.   ;D

I don't know if the move is permanent or not.  Right now I am getting the house up here ready to rent or sell, but if I find a decent job I will consider staying (till the next layoff).  If no job falls into my lap, then I will head back down to reclaim my space from that squatter.   [laugh]  We are projecting that it'll be around the 1st of December minimum.  But I will be down a few times to take care of business so I will make sure to let you know so we can do a DucNight.   You all feel free to stop in and see me if you're passing through, too.

Today was so beautiful up here, it made me pine for me little Duc.  Hopefully I will get a break on the weather when I come down in a couple weeks to  pick him up.  I'm planning on riding him back if the weather looks acceptable.  However, I won't be leaving at 5AM as certain little redheads are likely to do.

Had a couple of youngens join me up the crest who appreciated an older guy leading the way. Talking about age, I ran into  Bob (999R from Belen) and another gray hair on top of the Crest discussing the latest wreck of a 999S rider. They recalled an incident of a younger guy going down on a Ducati while I tried to point out that he was an older guy at the age of at least 50. After a moment of silence and looking at each other we all came to the sobering conclusion that he truly was a younger guy ;D Lesson learned: sometimes you should just forget about the numbers and enjoy your ride = life ;D [thumbsup]  [clap]

Hp, Godec, Kingbaby and I hit the road at 10 this morning to meet up with Bonfy in Taos.  Original plans were to take the high road, but after reaching Pojuaque and seeing poor Godecs blue fingers and shivering legs, we decided to take the low road and he decided to head back to the duke city.  As soon as we left him and headed north the temps rose about 15 degrees and stayed that way until dark.  We never did hit the high road though.  Anyhow, we had a great lunch with Bonfy and got a few pics to share.

We missed you and Brutales, Count.  Believe me, your name came up.  We thought about stopping by the Kachina to give your regards to the desk clerk, but time was of the essence.  I took the Eagle Nest/Cimmaron/Raton route home and even more memories came up.  I passed the historical marker (even more historical after the gangstas had our photo shoot there) and would've stopped for a pic, but I was racing the sun.  Which I didn't beat.  I got home well after dark, but thankfully it was alot warmer  even after dark on I-25 than it was doing the La Veta route at noon.  Plus less wildlife.  I didn't get any fudge on my face this trip though.  I am definitely going back to do some snowboarding at Angel Fire this season so will get my fudge fix then.  Maybe Kawboy and some of the other Gangstas such as yourself would be up for that.

From what I could tell, DucMouse, HP and Fast Freddy had a good time going
to the cafe and then hitting South 14.

Got a clear crest report headed up there today with my SON! He is riding the Interceptor and I am taking the 400 around 1pm if there are any takers, today 12/5/08! Latest crest run in the season ever for me. I better bring a camera.

Well the "old man" and his newly licensed son went most of the way to the ski area, on the crest. Me on the Ducati 400SS and he on the interceptor 250. Needless to say it was freakin' windy and cold but I'm proud of my boy he did a pretty good job except his hands froze because he was wearing mittens. On the way home we stopped at PJ's and xmas came early, I bought him a pair of Alpine Star gloves. He was very thankful, not just for the gift but to help stop his hands from FREEZING!

Too freakin' cool!    Awesome to see Gabe out there getting some turns in on the Crest.  On a sidenote, Christmas came early for WannaDucBad in the same form.  We headed for Cycle Gear and picked him out some heavyduty winter gloves and a facewarmer to go with it.  He's ready for some serious winter riding now. 
Hope to get a ride in with Gabe this spring!

A young kid I hired last week told me that he bought a R6 while learning basic riding skills
in the parking lot of the dealership. His brother had been riding motorcycles for years and he assumed that it would be a breeze to learn the skills. Well, he wrecked it within two months and doesn't want to have anything to do with motorcycles.

Actually I am driving to Colorado Springs in the AM to get the Interceptor so i cant make the coffee shop tomorrow.  :'(

Keep your eyes open for either the Lebaron or the Paladin.  I am leaving 8ish myself headed toward the Hood.  I'll wave and flash my brights if I see the van trrundling my way.  I have any eagle eye on the weather to see if I can make it down there while it's nice on Sunday.  It will be crappy while I am there, but  supposed to warm  up on Wednesday again when I'll be heading back.  I need 600 more miles on the bike before it's 15K service.  I want to get them before December 21st which is the Paladin and I's first anniversary . Sorry underblog, I took my bike to work to finish up our weekend project but didn't get out until after 1, from there I ended up just doing a South 14 run.

I tried to get outa' Santa earlier today, but had procrastinated (check me out ! I'm one away from posting a six syllable word) too much work from yesterday.  I did hit N14 around 3. NO traffic & warm, and, for the first time in awhile, the only corners on that road (between Cerillos & Madrid) were empty. I went back & did it again. It's only 7 corners, but this time of the year ya' take what you can get.

It's been ridable all along... I rode it back from Ouray.
I replaced the brake lever, removed the windshield and the bent right rear passenger peg.
The rest is cosmetic .....I'm contemplating about the type of black I want to do the tank in.

That looks great ! Micklevitz has a satin black from PPG that has soft dusting of very fine flake, that even though its flat, still picks up color.  Veeeery cool.
Also, Dusty & I just finished watching Babylon AD (3.99 rental on ITUNES). Best futuristic street fighter bikes EVER. And an awesome action movie ta' boot.

That paint scheme is vaguely reminiscent of this beauty I parked next to at Walmart last week. The owner complimented me on the Duc and I raved on his baby.   He said it was a '68 shovelhead??   He had a long white beard, was wearing shorts and workboots.  It was memorable.  Made me think of Mad Max.

Girlygirl and I took 314 from Isleta to 25S, then on to Belen.  Almost got creamed by some pinhead in a minvan passing us (I was doing over 90 and he flew past me) and swerving in traffic.  A-hole swerved from the right lane to the left (where we were), almost rear ended the car he was trying to pass, then oversteered and went onto the shoulder, thus launching gravel at a high velocity in our direction.

Pirelli + quick juking to the right = win.

On the subject of dangerous recipes, here's a little something that I have been trying hard not to make, but it's coming:

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
a small splash of vanilla extract
1 large Ducati coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and
mix thoroughly. Pour 
in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips
(if using) and vanilla extract,
and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at
1000 watts. The cake 
will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be
alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and 
tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! This can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more
virtuous ( ... or make two mugs and scarf 'em both if you are feeling particularly decadent-SPH).
And why is this 
the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate
cake at any time of
the day or night!

Great emoticon of Kawboy galloping back and forth, Zaster!  Sounds like that's what you guys did yesterday.  Sorry about Godec picking up a performance eval.  DucMouse flys under the radar as usual.  The GM interviewed me for fun yesterday at the 1198 unveiling at the shop up here and one of the questions was whether I ever get pulled over and the usual outcome.  4 warnings, 1 ticket.  The old 80-20 rule.  He asked why I thought I usually just get a warning.  I speculated that it was probably all the gear since they comment on it without fail.  I tell them I need it more than most.   ;D  Anyway I did some around town riding this week, but now it's cold again so the Paladin is bedded down in the garage.  Here are some shots of yesterday's event if anyone is interested.

And what a ride back it was.  I didn't get rained on, but the dust storm was awsome.  I was riding horizontal going north on I25 with a 50 mph cross wind.  Passing the Sandia Resort, I couldn't see it from the interstate.  It was a great obstacle course ride dodging the tumbleweed and everything else blowing across the road.  It certainly wasn't a boring ride.  The only thing that concerned me was the roadrunner sucking in too much dust.  The air cleaner was working overtime.   [moto] [moto]

Made a Monday run To T or C.  It had been quite awhile since I made a highway run.  I thought about making a run north but when I checked temps (like 19 degrees in Co Springs) I changed my mind.  Weather there was great, mid 60's.  Here's a couple of pics.

Yea!  I am finally feeling better after a three day headache/upset stomach.  I still don't think it was the flu because it came on like one of my usual headaches.

Kawboy's heading up this way today so I am going to meet him somewhere between Salida and Canyon City.  The headache episode left me feeling like I'd been et by a wolf and shit over a cliff.  So I am limiting my ride to Salida on the outside.  Can't wait to get on the Monster and have some company up here.

Wow!  What great weather today.  My scoot said 72 when I got out of class so I rode for about 2 hours before I had to get home to feed.  The next few days are going to be even better.  I just CAN NOT wait until spring really hits.  I really want to take the liner out of the jacket and switch to lighter gloves.

I got out today!  I met Kawboy in Salida and we rode back to the Springs.  I will let him do the documentary of his trip.  My trip was awesome.  Felt so good to be back on the Monster.  Finally passed 15000 today between Penrose and Fountain.

So my most awesome BF is flying me to LA this Friday, i am so going riding with the Giz (yes she is going with me) I will be sure to send pics!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

                 how was the ride from Salida,??  I  rode sat. to Cotopaxi, didn't have time to go further, too late in the day. It wasn't too dirty, tho' it usually get's worse in the canyon, sand and rocks. I rode the hell out of the XR sat. morn. and didn't leave much time for the Duc. Well hope You and Kawboy had fun, talk at you soon [moto]

When I was heading for Salida, I noticed a little sand right down the center strip of the lane in the corners off and on, but not so much coming back.  It was actually really clean for this time of year.  It was a great ride yesterday.  Between Cotapaxi and Salida, it got cold and misty.  Kawboy said it got colder and colder from Alamosa  up to the pass and into Salida. 

Well, finally have enough time to do this.  A great trip to the Springs and back, with a few minor glitches.  Nice temps leaving Bernalillo with cloudy skies.  All's well to Alamosa.  Still a lot of snow on the ground along 285 at San Antonio Mt.  Left Alamosa with the temps in the mid 50's heading to Salida.  The clouds were thick over the mountains on the left and right.  Could see rain falling from them and all the while  the temp was slowly dropping.  By the time I got to the pass going into Poncha Springs.  The temp was around 33 and a rain snow mix was hitting me.  Fortunately the road was just wet and not icy.  Coming down to Poncha Spring I was cold and was in a hurry to get down where it was warmer ( I didn't have all my cold gear on).  Come around acorner to a straight and didn't see the local gendarme sitting on the side.  84 in a 55.  CRAP!!  And only 5 miles from where I was meeting Bonfy.  DOUBLE CRAP!!  Met up with Bonfy in the middle of Salida passing each other.  Perfect timing, thanks to the Sheriff  >:( .  The ride to the SPrings with Bonfy was great (and warmer). 
Left Tuesday morning going south on I-25 to Walsenburg and took a side loop from there to Rt 12 through the Spanish Peaks to Trinidad.  Great road.  Needs to be ridden by all.  It's a 70 mile loop through beautiful country and twisty roads.  Thought I was on the Crest Rd. for a portion of it.  Had to be a little careful, though.  Melting snow running across the road and gravel on the road.  Wait till the snow and gravel are gone and then hit it.  Was going to go over through Cimarron and Taos but spent too much time on Rt 12 taking pictures.  Had to run I-25 straight down to home with a 30 mph cross wind most of the way.  Annoying.

My side of the ride was alot warmer than Kawboy's.  Kind of chilly between Cotapaxi and Salida, but most pleasant from Cotapaxi into the Springs.  It was a great ride.  It was so fun to have Kawboy up from the hood.  I have a picture of his new riding buddy - the roadrunner - I was trying to load it when my damned batteries gave out again.  I am getting new rechargeables tomorrow.

Kawboy spied Waugh Mountain on the map.  It's directly north of Cotapaxi.  That one's definitely getting climbed.   [evil] [evil] [bacon]

Dang Kawboy,  80 mph, cross wind, no hands, cold as shit, a bike with a beaded seat,  & a readout for front & rear tire preasure.

He was a crusty old Sheriff Deputy.  Bonfy might have had to bail me out of jail if I tried that.  Besides it was too cold there.     [laugh]  Took my piece of paper and pressed on.   [moto]

Check again.  That's 90.  No cross wind at that time (I'm not that crazy).  The temp was around 60 there.  Tuesday's temps were perfect up to the mid 70's.  It was only cold Monday up over the pass to Poncha Springs.

Sorry I couldn't make it up to CAD's.  Jen and I had to do some work with the horses (we are trying to sell one of them and he needs some tuning up).  We did take a nice ride down 47 and in to Mountainair this afternoon, though.  Temps dropped a bit but it was a beautiful ride.  I just had to open mine up.  She's getting a little fiesty just being ridden in town. :P

Saw a number of old friends & met some new ones.  It was a perfect day.

I agree with KB.  It was a great day and I can't really think of too many other folks I would rather spend it with.  It was good to get out and stretch a bit, and I was totally stoked Jen was able to make it out with me.  Sometimes I need to poke her with a stick to get her rolling, but once she gets moving, she is happy to be riding with others.

It was great to meet those of you I hadn't met before (DesertDuc, Hooligan Plumber).  I'm sure we will see each other again soon.

I had a great time this weekend. It was good to see everyone out. I bought a picture that was taken as we came down frontage road. I'm ready to ride Saturday and Sunday since i didn't touch a motorcycle for four weeks. Just got a new rear tire that needs to be rubbed in and I need to loose some of the weight I gained enjoying the European cuisine not to mention the wine and beer.  [moto]

Hey guys, how did that "red eye" flight go this morning?

The 10:30 started and ended @ 10:30.  Dusty, Cloner & I hung @ the Flying Star for a while, talked about all the times we have traveled in wind storms, & how cool it is that in 20min we can be home.  Poof, home. 

Best part, three stubborn riders decided to lay down the swords for a day.     We'll be back   [evil]

Not that this has anything to do with the crap weather today, buuuuut, can we go to the track....please?  Not for a ____ swinging contest, just ride without cars, dogs, flying street signs etc. 

I know it's getting bad when I catch a green light on a right hand turn, & no one is in the crosswalk.

We met at 8 and headed for the Crest but I stopped 3/4 of the way up since the fog started to get pretty thick....not that the 40 degree temps had anything to do with it.  ;D

It was like the old man and the sea heading east on I40. I couldnt get the KZ much over 75mph. But the crest was great up to the fog. I didnt realize how cold I was until we stopped. Like Karl said it was 40 degrees and i only had a tshirt on under leather!

Well, I'd love to see all the gang and meet the new riders, too, but I just got back from a quick turn-around trip to ABQ for Scottish to do some maintenance on my bike.  In last Sunday night and out Tuesday morning.  I didn't have time to hook up with my homies, but I got some good granddaughter-time in.   ;D   Lance got to come so he is off my back for a while and the bike is ready to rock and roll for Salt Lake City next weekend.  Can't wait!  Hope to see some of you out there.  I'll be sporting my hooligan shirt.  Lance is going, fo sho.

I fell into the wrong crowd: Red Gloves and his buddies. They were pulling out of Dawn's right as I was pulling in. I thought it was you all until the helmets came off at the gas station!

Anywho, we zipped up 14 to Pecos Trail to NM 3 (Villanueva) to Clines Corners. Escorted a GoldWing riding Texan with charging issues back to town.

Next time, FOR SURE I won't leave until I see you at the appointed place and time!

It was good to see so many folks come out for the Memorial Day ride.  Two members whom I hadn't met before were in the group (Zaster and an unknown Air Force officer....sorry, I'm horrible with names), both mounted on 1098s.  Kingbaby and his sweetie Rose, Mouse n' Plumber, and myself rounded out the group.  We took a quick trip to the crest, then headed out for lunch at Downtown Java Joes.  I normally like longer rides, but I have to say this one was perfect.  I pulled into the garage as the first few drops of a DELUGE hit my faceshield, so I guess the length of the engagement was just right for the weather at hand!  Thanks a ton to everybody who attended.  That was a blast.  Oh...and how about that Ferrari, huh?  Wasn't it pretty?  I couldn't believe the owner wouldn't trade me even-up for the MH.  He OBVIOUSLY doesn't realize the value of an Ducati, huh?  ;D

Now that I've taken care of that, what's the plan for the coming weekend?  I was planning to head to Miller this weekend, but events have dictated otherwise.  However, I had days reserved off and since they're already allocated, I'm taking off Friday and Monday, so I'm hoping to ride a bit.  Is anyone else up for a ride through Jemez and Los Alamos this Friday, weather permitting?  I've never been through there before, so a guide would be appreciated.  If nobody else can go, how about advice on route and direction?  I know Kingbaby told me that it was better to go through Jemez north to south on the return to Albuquerque....but I've heard little else about the area. 

I was considering a route up 14 through Madrid to Santa Fe, then 285 to 502 into Bandelier.  In Bandelier, maybe pick up 4 to bypass Los Alamos (and it looks like a twistier road....but it's hard to judge the condition of that road....any advice?) and stay on 4 though Jemez to 550, then 550 back home.  Any thoughts?

It was a great day for sure. The road was clean, weather was great & the company was fantastic (Air Force guy is Troy).
Funny about your ride home, we had the same outcome, but only had to go two blocks to get home.

As far as the route goes, that is exactly the way I like to go. 4 is a fun road & all the tight twisties are up hill heading into the Jamez. Dusty & I will try to make it for Friday.

Who was riding the two 848's? That looks like Tom Thomas' red wind screen, but doesn't look like him.

Mike and Tom had the 1198 and the 848, though I am not certain which is which. Red Gloves had the 1098 (though I understand he is replacing it with an 1198 soon), and Ron on the Aprilia.

Ah, I see now that it is an 1198, and it looks like Tom has leaned out a bit.  The 1098 use to be mine (hope it goes to another good home).
