Title: Kit Collari Reggi Faro - No more U-Bracket
Post by: junior varsity on January 25, 2011, 11:14:45 AM
well. I wanted something different, something rigid, and I had seen these on the Ducati Monster Club (Italy) forum a few years ago.

The products are made by CNC Racing / SEFO in Italy, the technical sponsor for Althea Ducati Racing.

I had to have mine custom machined by CNC Racing since they are normally sized appropriately for Monster forks (50/54) and I needed them sized for the mid-region of SBK forks, which tapers to 51mm. They (CNC Racing) were easy to work with and made 'em up for me.

Here's the shots:

i suppose its about time i zip-tied all those cables/wires together so its less ridiculous looking up there. There's no gauges, so that is part of what you are seeing.

That's the IMA triple clamps, Desmoworld.de headlamp, DP carbon fiber 'ears' / headlight brackets, Rizoma signals for anyone curious. The forks are 748-998 forks (53mm at top triple, 53mm at bottom triple ~51mm at middle area).

I was able to choose how high my headlamp was with these brackets. I put it down pretty low. We'll see if it stays there.

It looks like the headlight may need to be brought in towards the forks.  In other words it sticks out too far.  Can we get a side view?

i'll go out there and take another shot tonight. it looks pretty far out because of the no gauges and big opening behind it now - where the u-bracket use to take up some visual space. I think I can flip the circles around and move it "way back" into the area, but I haven't tried that yet. Certainly have some options to tinker with.

Idea thief! Naw... I have been thinking about this mod myself as opposed to chopping up the u-bracket. I have an 1000DS motor though and would have to figure out where to relo the temp sensor and other stuff back there.

Still, love the idea ( it is mine after all! ;) ) and it looks great on your ride!

close to $100ish iirc. and a lengthy wait, but that was known ahead of time.

The throttle cables are Motion Pro cables that were made for me to use the Keihin FCR 41 carbs and an ER Racing multi-cam quickturn throttle. (The ER Racing kit came with cables for stock Mikuni carbs and were long to accomodate standard handlebars. I have neither regular handlebars, nor the Mikuni carbs...)

Brake and Clutch line are Spiegler Lines. Both a little long now that I have the clipons under the triple. Clipons are Woodcraft, which I got from Jordan at AMS in Dallas.

It's just 75 bones for the standard 50mm version.  Look all the way down at the bottom of the page.

Or you could build your own :)  AM, your bucket looks about right.  I had to extend the brackets out in this pic because the bucket was waaaay too close to the steering head.  There's not as much room back there as you think.

That's cool A M.  So on a stock Monster you can take off the u bracket and still mount the instrument cluster and the headlamp.  I'm tempted to ditch it.

Do you think the U bracket added any amount of rigidity to the fork triple assembly?

Do you think the lack of vib-rubber mounting by the headlamp bracket will damage the CF or the bulbs?

Not as concerned about the lack of rubbers, and don't think the u-bracket added anything structurally. It DID make it a pregnant dog to work with the hoses, wires, and cables.

If you're so worried about the vibration damping, just go to the hardware store and pick out a couple of washers from the pluming section.  That and a couple of stainless bolts are pretty much all that's holding my guages to the triple.

and get a PIAA bulb intended for high vibration applications. brighter and longer lasting to boot

i too have these collars. they are nice piece of work.
mine are also on the 51mm section of SBK forks... however i just bought the 50mm pieces and cranked them down nice and tight. they opened up just enough to fit perfect... sure they're a little tight, but eh, whatever. never reall have to take them off again ;)

You are hurting me, a m.  Ordered the rings to get rid of the U bracket.  Then read your comments about the IMA triples, looked at the pictures, looked at my order for a new AR (6920), then looked at the triples, then at the AR, then the triples, then, did the only thing I could do.  Ordered the triples, the AR, and an Aimpoint too.  I'll have pictures in a couple of weeks.  Thanks again.
