Hell of a season opener.  :o

Good season opener.  I am looking forward to Skylar becoming a little less of the whiny person she has been, and a little more of the character she was in this episode. (I mean, I get why she was.  Surprise! I cook meth! is liable to result in some gnashing of teeth.  That being said, I kinda hope they kill off Walt Jr)

Here's a good interview with Heisenberg Bryan Cranston - no spoilers, but there are some hints as to what will come this season.

I think Jesse will get the bright idea of selingl meth over the internet (ebay)and Hank finds it while shopping for crystals online then he'll be back in the cop game.

Title: Re: Breaking Bad
Post by: il d00d on August 09, 2011, 12:26:10 PM
I think Gus might try to turn Jesse.  They have spent a lot of time this season establishing that Jesse just doesn't give a shit anymore - if that includes not giving a shit about killing Walt or working him out of the picture, that would work in Gus' favor.

It was nice to see Hank something other than sullen and pregnant dogy.  And that Gale video was... horrifying.

I'm going to predict Skyer gives all those $50s to Ted to help him uncook his books. Then Ted steals all the money.

Good call.

That means they'll have to sell the car wash back to Walt's old boss for half the price they paid so they can all get out of town.

Then he ends up teachering chemistry in a Mexican high school.

Title: Re: Breaking Bad

Dingdingdingding...

That might have been the single most badass moment of TV I have ever witnessed.  This season, while superlative,  was a bit more of a struggle for me than seasons past.  I wanted more Heisenberg kicking ass, and less Walt crying in a hole in his floor.  That was just the most satisfying resolution I could have imagined.  It's sad for me to think that Tio did not have enough screen time to warrant being nominated for an award of some kind - what he did with a bell, and a twitching face is far more than what lots of actors could accomplish with use of their entire body and a set...

OK, I am going to go watch the scene again for the 20th time.

Title: Re: Breaking Bad
Post by: Scooter Montgomery on October 11, 2011, 05:39:16 AM
That was excellent.

So what is next season going to be?

I see next season as Walt keeps cooking because he has cancer again and this makes him a a lot of money and makes him feel alive. Jesse wants out to just try and live a normal life with the chic and the kid, but Walt pulls him in. Hank will still be on the hunt once they pop back up on radar. Walt goes into full on Hessenburg mode and kills Hank. Then Jesse kills Walt (and calls him pregnant dog just before he does it) after finding out Walt poisoned the kid and basically turned his life into shit.

Side stories Marie steals the car wash from Skyler. Walt Jr. eats more pancakes and whines about stuff.

Title: Re: Breaking Bad
Post by: derby on October 11, 2011, 06:57:01 AM
in some ways, i really wish that they'd just leave it be after this season.

16 episodes isn't really enough time to "get deep" and establish/resolve some long story arcs without feeling "rushed".

that said, i'm guessing that jesse finds out that walt was directly responsible for brock's hospital stay and that walt was also in the room when jane overdosed (and chose not to save her).

it's going to be jesse vs walt. skyler is going to learn more than she can handle about walt's actions. walt jr might, too. hank is going to put all the pieces together.

i'm expecting the final season to be very, very dark... don't expect to like walt (at all) at the end.

Title: Re: Breaking Bad
Post by: mookieo2 on October 11, 2011, 09:45:32 AM
I can't wait to see what's next. It really is a great show leaving you always wanting more. I can do without Walt Jr. As he serves no purpose and Marie annoys the shit out of me.

Title: Re: Breaking Bad
Post by: il d00d on October 11, 2011, 10:35:25 AM
I'd agree with Derby's forecast: dark, with a good chance of more dark.  I have read a lot of prognostications that involve Jesse killing Walt - I hope that doesn't happen, not only because I found it a little hard to believe Jesse could manhandle Walt a little earlier in the season, but also because I don't necessarily buy that Walt "ruined" Jesse's life.  Didn't bring sunshine to it either, but I don't see Jesse as the moral paragon of the show.

It seems unlikely that Walt and Jesse will start cooking again, at least immediately - no place to do it, and no cartels to pay them for it.  I do kind of like the idea of them getting back to the RV in the middle of the desert again if they run out of money.  It would be a nice bookend.

Plus, there will be the fallout from the Gus Fring, Ted, and Hank storylines to develop and clean up.  The Ted situation in particular makes me nervous as a fan - I fear the show turning into CSI Albuquerque.

I would not be surprised if Walt Jr gets a bigger role, as he is the last untapped dramatic resource in the show.  But, and at the risk of sounding like an asshole, I am not sure how much dramatic range we could expect from him.

Anyways, I look forward to the last season(s) - with a defined end in sight, I reckon we have a lot more face-melting explosions in our future, metaphorically speaking...

That episode was awesome.  I was mentally preparing myself to pretend that the series ended with Gus' face melting, but my fears that this season would suck after the last one ended so strong were allayed in the first few minutes.  It looks like we will have another floating teddy bear device in this series, but so far it is interesting.  Nice to see Walt out of his Heisenberg costume.

Fun livinng in Alb. Knowing a lot of the landmark places the show is shot in location on, and periodically running across a place you didn't know but recognizing it now. I bicycle past the place where Walt shot the drug dealers everyday. I've had our truck detailed at the carwash Walt worked at. Just fun. :)

That and didn't they all have cool nicknames? Mike's telling their names and then says "That's Todd". It's like Star Trek, here are the crew and here is the guy in the red shirt.

Other far out thoughts. Walt Jr. becomes a meth dealer not knowing him dad is the manucturer of it. I base this on how cool he thought it was that Gus offered him a job and how much he was into watching Scarface.

With Walt stating 'Nothing stops this train.  Nothing.', I just wonder how far he will push the train as his family falls apart.  We're already seeing Skyler flake (how much of that was an act?), how long until Walt Jr has wrapped the 392 Hemi Challenger around a tree as a further cry for help from his parents?

I do find it interesting that Hank has been promoted which leaves the whole Fring/Heisenberg case in the hands of someone else.  Will that person be as diligent about persuing the blue-meth perps?  Who will it be?

Loved Skyler's line about how she's waiting....for the cancer to come back. Classic.

Didn't really like all the Chrysler product placement. I'd also be surprised if they wrecked one of the cars. Other than that the first few episodes have been great. Can't wait for next week.

+1.  Especially with a Chrysler 300 ad at every break (didn't count, could be an exaggeration).

Skyler's character has always irked me...now more than ever.

Disagree.  TV always had ads, now they're just inside the program.  No biggy.  Plus, the scene was cool since it showed Walt's further transformation into someone acting independent and reckless.

Jesse & Mike are right in trying to get out while anything is still salvagable (& $5M ain't bad either).

Walt...  Well, the foreshadowing has been going on this entire season.  He's gonna die, & die bad.  Just a question now of how many others he takes with him.

Walt's such a dick...

That I've started calling people 'Walts' instead of dicks.

With Mike dead, Jesse's interactions w/Walt will certainly take a turn.  Just waiting to see what turn that'll be.

I'm thinking Walt will end up either killing or alienating everyone in his life b/c of his pride and lust for power.

He'll end up financially rich and alone realizing just how rich (in life) he *used* to be.

Gilligan has done an absoutly make the beast with two backsin amazing job at making the Protagonist into the antagonist. Walt has truely 'broke bad'. There is no redemption, there isn't supposed to be one. Walt isn't supposed to win. From the season opener, the flash forward to his 52nd birthday, we know the cancer is back, he was hiding out in new Hampshire, which probably means he was cut off form his family. He needed to buy a belt fed .50cal which meant a massive violent shoot out was about to happen, Walt is going down as he should.

What a great make the beast with two backsin show!  We all started out feeling really bad for the guy and wanting to see him succeed to now wanting to see him crumble and fall apart due to his ego and greed.

My only complaint is that we have to wait for the 2nd 'half' of the final season. I hate AMC and their 'split' seasons.

I typed this from my phone, so excuse my grammar and spelling errors

Its funny that Walt was shocked when Tocco(sp?) beat that guy to death in the junkyard. He was shocked when Gus slit that guys throat. Now here he is killing Mike like its just business.

I was thinking it would be interesting if Jesse mails letter to Hank saying Walt is who he is looking for. While its in the mail Walt kills Jesse and things all the lose ends are tied up. Then surprise Hank is at the front door.

And vice versa with Jesse's character.  Hard to believe he originally wasn't going to make it past season 1.

I'd say Walt's going out in a blaze of glory, but that's a little too Scarface-esque.

I'm wondering a few things:

If Skyler put all that $ into the storage locker, who's to say she didn't slip a little someplace else?

Since Hank's boss is already on him for spending DEA resources to investigate Fring & the blue meth, will Hank have the leeway to continue the investigation if Walt is truly 'out' (?) and the blue meth isn't on the street?

I'm trying to put the pieces together back to the S5 opener w/the New Hampshire plate 'LIVE FREE OR DIE'.

Damn...that was a LOT of $...

from hank's perspective, it's more than just the blue meth, now... walt is linked to 9-10 prison murders and the execution of gale boetticher. hank may or may not eventually tie him to the bomb that killed fring and hector but, if he follows the trail far enough, walt is also "associated" with him getting shot.

he may be able to sell a continued investigation to his boss on the first two, but this is going to be personal for hank, on multiple levels...

To Walt's credit he hasn't killed anybody that probably didn't deserve it. Lots of collateral damage though.

the tarantula kid on the bike certainly didn't deserve to die. definite collateral damage.

did jesse's girlfriend deserve to die? he had a chance to save her and didn't. result: a whole plane full of collateral damage. interesting note, in an early draft, walter actually murders her by injecting her with more heroin while she was passed out.

how about the 9-10 coordinated prison murders? collateral? deserved it?

gale boetticher?

mike may have "deserved it," but walter killed him for his own selfish reasons.

Title: Re: Breaking Bad
Post by: Blackout on September 05, 2012, 01:50:57 PM
Who all has he actually killed? There was the guy in the basement (drug dealer), Mike (gangster), Gus & Tuco's uncle (drug kingpins), the two drug dealers that killed the kid. Probably others I can't think of. the others were collaterals. Jesse's girlfriend killed herself. The kid on the motorcycle was killed by Todd. Gale was killed by Jesse (on Walter's directive).
I guess you could say he is "technically responsible" for all the people on the plane that went down.

jane choked on her own vomit, but walt was there and made a choice not to save her.

walt was also totally going to off lydia w/ the ricin until she made him an attractive business proposition. that said, he is straight-up directly responsible for the prison murders. to defend those by saying he didn't actually pull the trigger, er, hold the shank, is a cop out.

i think there's a line you can draw between self preservation and just trying to get away with it/selfishness.

gale and gus/hector were self preservation. gus was going to kill walt.

the others? not so much.

jane? sociopathic indifference.

The fact that Walt not only passes on opportunities to take out Hank but goes out of his way to save his life says a lot, especially since Hank would never reciprocate. Hank treats Walt like blood family. Walts other actions are besides the point... I could make a case that being an employee of the DEA makes you an enabler and an accessory to murder as well. They're both assholes, but Walt treats Hank with more kindness and compassion than what he gets in return.

Honestly what sucks about the show now is there's no one to pull for...an arrogant macho Fed....a junkie snitch...a murdering drug lord...and a bunch of neo Nazi dickheads.

The fact that Walt not only passes on opportunities to take out Hank but goes out of his way to save his life says a lot, especially since Hank would never reciprocate.

I don't necessarily agree that hank wouldn't reciprocate, but it doesn't really matter since walt's near his end, anyway.

Honestly what sucks about the show now is there's no one to pull for...an arrogant macho Fed....a junkie snitch...a murdering drug lord...and a bunch of neo Nazi dickheads.

It's a freaking TV show we are discussing and you have to go and put your personal prejudices and political leanings into a thread we have had running for two years? WTF?

No, you're missing the point. You're even highlighting one sentence to intentionally take it out of context. Just chill out, its a TV show like you said...I have prejudices and you have an obvious bias. Its not a big deal...its a great show with great characters portrayed by great actors. That's why its fun to rant about.

Walt is going to use the LMG in the trunk to assault jacks gang to get the rest of his money back. He'll give the money to skylar and the son. I bet he is going to use the ricin on his old scientist friend. And he will in some dramatic fashion, kill Jesse.

Just a guess though.

Title: Re: Breaking Bad
Post by: Scooter Montgomery on September 24, 2013, 07:49:39 AM
Walt heads back to New Mexico but stops to ask for directions at dimby and sees a bunch of people shooting/ burning a toaster and thinks "My meth is more powerful than I thought."  [laugh]

I say he goes back and kills Jack's gang and gets the money. Frees Jesse who kills Todd. Walt gives the greymatter couple a bunch of money for their rehab places. Gives Brock a bunch of money. Takes the ricin himself so he can die on his terms. Before he dies goes and finds Skyler and the kids. Then gets killed by angry Walt Jr. before the ricin kicks in. Jesse moves to Nebraska and him and Saul open a Long John Silvers together.

That's pretty make the beast with two backsed up. The guy who plays the character actually has cerebral palsy. While not as bad as "Flynn", he still has a neurological disorder. Not cool.

I don't like him because he called the cops on his own Dad and thrust a knife through his heart while he was gasping into a bar payphone from Misery, NH. His different-abilities have nothing to do with it.

The only characters I truly despise at this point are Todd and the Nazi's. I'm actually really disappointed in this show right now...the torturing of Jesse and the murder of Andrea were completely unnecessary and beyond the pale. Todd and the Nazi's are so morbid they've almost ruined it.

I still wonder if we are watching the same show. His father was in a physical fight with his mother involving a knife. Of course he would call the police. And after having his life destroyed and his uncle murdered why would he want to talk to dear old dad?

It's all good, no offense taken.

Junior still has yet to hear his own Dad's version of events. And Walt was not the aggressor in the knife battle. It should be easy to see how Junior's character can be highly annoying and how Walt has enough humane qualities to be deserving of some sympathy. It would be "abnormal" not to.

Dad's version of events: "Due to my poor estate planning and bad business sense, I began manufacturing illegal, addictive drugs and in the process of concealing this activity I chose to murder several people, order hits on a dozen others, poisoned a child, disposed of a murdered child, ordered a hit which ended up resulting in your uncles murder as well as his partner's, but I did it all so I could leave you money for college.".............Yep, Walt Jr. will be OK with that.

It's just a TV show. Great acting.

Even the title of the last episode was intricate and thoughtful:

"Felina"

1) = Fe (iron) + Li (lithium) + Na (sodium) --> Blood, Meth, & Tears (iron is major component in blood, lithium is major component in meth, sodium is major component of tears)

2) = anagram of "Finale"

This whole series was amazing.

AMAZING

"Say my name"
"My name is ASAC Schraeder and you can go make the beast with two backs yourself"
"pregnant dog!"
"Magnets pregnant dog!"
"ding ding ding ding kaBOOM!"

So many great lines throughout this entire series. Im sorry there isn't more to watch.

The night before, Aaron Paul was on site. Missed that, but same theater...

So, AMC has been running a marathon the past several Sunday’s. Like most of you, I’ve seen every episode multiple times. But.....It never gets old, so many great scenes. Start posting up some favorite scenes.

That scene was just on. Last scene of season 3. Hell of an ending. Now back when it was being broadcast, we had to wait 9 months to see how that played out. Simply the best writing and acting for that matter, in a television drama.

Doesn't belong here I know but one of the best SNL sketches of all time and Hartman reminds me so much of Bryan Cranston.

It is interesting that they kept the Twisters signage, as that is the location of Los Pollos Hermanos.

Maybe hadn't edited it, as it was a deleted scene?

That would be a load of entertainment indeed.

I miss all the characters.  And typically I don't re-watch or -read books or movies, etc. but look forward to eventually doing this very thing with BCS and BB.
