Title: S2R 800 changing to a 14 t sprocket.

Best bang for your buck mod I reckon.

Another popular one on "that other site"

Step one: Bike up on rear paddock stand in gear

2: remove front sprocket cover

3: loosen rear axle retaining bolts

4: loosen chain

5: remove clutch slave cylinder, don't touch the clutch lever after this!!!

6: remove 2 little sprocket bolts

7: turn retaining ring and remove

8: remove sprocket

9: put new one on,   blue thread locker on threads, torque bolts to 6 N-m / 4 ft-lb

10: replace other bits, adjust chain, torque value on axle pinch bolts is 33 nm, 24 ft/lb

go for a ride ( after taking it off the paddock stand otherwise you won't get very far)

I did the same thing on my S2R 800.

Although I didn't have a spanner to slacken up the chain. I tried using a screwdriver and hammer but no go.
There is a tool you can buy from CA cycleworks but I was too cheap to fork out the 20 bucks.

I managed to get the sprocket off because my chain was a bit loose anyway. Getting it on was a super pita.  :bang

I'd recommend getting the tool to turn the eccentric as it will make your life easier.

just my 2 cents. The instructions above are right on the money.  ;)

yep, buy that tool, you'll need it eventually to adjust your chain. There is a couple around, the genuine duc one is a bit pricey though, there's also fleabay, (hammer and screwdriver????  oh dear!  damage that eccentric and it'll cost you more than 20 bucks to fix;)  )

hi guys, can some one tell me what this tool is called that you guys are talking about, i tried looking for it on ca-cycleworks but no luck. i just received my 14T sprocket and would like to have it in as soon as possible, the bike jerks so much down low :bang. thanks

i just used a plumber multitool used to tighten sink drains and such
got it at lowe's for a few bucks

So does this mod really help? I do a lot of freeway riding and in the carpool lane to keep up you have to do 85-90...allegedly. At those speeds I'm running around 5300 rpms. What would the revs be with the 14t? Will my 800 become a wheely machine (I like both wheels on the ground, thank you very much)?

both weehls will stay down, its just alot smoother in low speed areas (Citys)
as far the rpm goes you will elevate them a bit but nothing big

Ok, so I have a spanner and a 14t sprocket in the mail, probably coming tomorrow.  I REALLY want to install it tomorrow!  Problem is that I don't have a rear stand, and I'm not very mechanically skilled with motorcycle maintenance anyway.

1) Is it possible to replace the sprocket with the rear wheel on the ground?
2) What direction do you turn the eccentric to tighten or loosen the chain?
3) What are the torque specs for the pinch bolts on the swing arm?

Yesit is possible to change the sprocket with the wheel on the ground, just requires a bit of moving the bike back and forth when you loosen off the chain.
In this is the danger that the bike will fall off the sidestand and on to you.   :o  Best to get a friend to help if you are gonna do this.
Can't remember which way to turn the eccentric but you will see it happen when you turn the thing anyway as it doesn't take much of a turn to move the wheel a long way.
Torque spec for rear pinch bolts is 33n/m not sure what that is in pounds,shillings or pence.

33 n/m is 24 ft/lb or 290 inch lb

Got it on just fine this morning, you can turn that eccentric just fine without it being in a stand.  But OMG, what a difference that little sprocket makes!

This post won't help... but i found a thread in a random motorcycle forum that has a "how to" with pictures on a duc.  Been trying to find it for half an hour now.  I just recently saw it within the last few weeks.

I will be changing both sprockets and the chain on my S2R soon. What exactly do you need to remove the rear sprocket?
