A cleaner in Sydney a few years back was tamping down rubbish into the industrial shredder with his foot - you can guess what happened. Feet first through an industrial shredder wins my vote - that is a LOT of grinding before you hit something important enough to kill you - like your heart. :(

I have to imagine it went pretty quick though...

People in the shopping center reported hearing screaming - but no one investigated. The machines I've seen tend to chug along - they're not like a woodchipper, where you want the stuff in and out fast. :(

You know, we need to accept the innevitability of death and not fear it soo much.  It's the pain that freaks me out.  Each time I've nearly been killed by drowning or suffucation, I always felt like, well I wasn't going to die that day, and that this wasn't such a bad way to go!  Taking serious blows to the head aren't to bad either.  You sort of lose track of what's up...

It's really the pain that scares me, but I'm totally cool with my friends saying "You remember when William bit it?!  That was awesome!  How do you explode in a fireball while being crushed under a waterfall?!  I don't think I'll beat that..."

Dying slowly. Living 'cause someone can't man up and pull the plug on me. I've made it clear over and over to everyone close to me. PULL THE PLUG!!

One word, EBOLA.

You don't know what's happening till it's too late.

Hemorrhagic filoviruses freak me out.

Submarine disaster.  If you survive when it hits bottom you know your going to drown or suffocate, it's just a matter of when.  A lot of time to think about it.

Anything that is long and drawn out can be made quick.  Except for the dark room one.  All you could do is beat your head against the wall until it did permanent damage or, you know..., worse things that I won't list since its kind of sick.

it's more interesting if it is YOUR worst way to die.  not just dying in general, but what scares the shit out of you. 

being eaten alive takes the cake for me.  i used to go scuba diving a lot until i saw Jaws.  make the beast with two backs that.

The running joke for me is that I am impervious to death, but not getting make the beast with two backsed up.  I don't actually think that, but its starting to kind of seem that way.
So, I am more afraid of nearly dying and pretty much being a head, like Million Dollar Baby, than of actual death.  Your time comes when it comes.  If it hurts, it hurts.

My worst way huh, ok then.  Malled by an animal while hiking in the middle of nowhere and bleeding out.  Or being quickly split in half horizontally across the torso.

falling into a tank (like used to anodize stuff) of boiling water and being "cooked" to death.

'Sfunny.  With respect to the Jaws creep-out, I'm more comfortable under the surface, able to see around me, and seeing sharks, than I am floating on the surface, unable to see well below me, thinking about sharks.

So:
going on a night dive, flashing around my dive light, and seeing a shark tooling past hunting fish = cool.
floating on the surface at night, wondering if there's maybe a Ginormous Flesheater™ looking up at me = not cool.

yeah, that would freak me too.  and i have a built-in shark repellant -- i shit on site.  usually chases them away pretty quick.

Worst death that I can think of that hasn't been mentioned?
Chained in a dark, quiet place with as little mental stimulus as possible. As little discernible smells, sounds, changes in temperature, etc as possible. Just a steady IV drip with just barely enough to keep you alive for as long as possible.
Wonder how long it would take for your brain to give up and figure out a way to take the body out, a sort of reflexive suicide?

Someone was creeped out by sharks, so they probably shouldn't look at those pics.

Although they eat plankton, they're the classic shark shape unlike basking sharks and the other jumbo sharks. Add that to the fact that, even when you know they've got teeth the size of BB's, when they're swimming at you with an open mouth into which I would fit (let alone a kid) it can be a bit unnerving.

I'm really not sure, but I've always hated swimming in them. The ocean's never bothered me. My best guess is that not being able to see what's just about to wrap around my ankle and drag me, screaming, to my doom is part of it.

For me, the worst way to die would be the way too many of my patients die - attached to machines for days or weeks, in pain and wasting away slowly because my family is too selfish to just let me go.  I've talked to my family about this often, and have threatened them with a nasty and relentless haunting if they allow me to die like that. 

That is the same way my mom felt. She had a pretty bad stroke, never recovered. She was kept on the machines long enough for me to get back into town and we all said our goodbye's. It was only about 36 hours total. Much better that way....

I'm sorry you had to go through that.  I'm glad that you had the compassion/balls to go through with pulling the plugs.  I wish more people could see past their own hurt to do that for their loved ones.

Getting spooned to death by memebers of the DMF.

At a funeral for a family friend (who was 89 and died peacefully in his sleep), (We're wispering very quietly in the church because the organ is playing and the minister should be starting soon)  I told hubby I couldn't stand burying him, so if it's oky with him, I'd like to go first.  He looks at me over his glasses and says "let me know if you need any help with that".  Try holding that in while the minister starts the service.  Then his sister wants to know why we're laughing, then she's laughing, and his mom (who's behind us) starts clearing her throat, loudly. 

We're a bad influence.  to anyone around us.  but it's a fun life.

That's good. It's how I'd hope to repsond if in the same situation.

Last funeral I went to, when we were all leaving, I get on the car and turn it on, to find the stereo blaring at full blast. This normally wouldn't be a problem.

Actually they didn't share any blood vessels or organs.  One brother was an alcoholic and the other one never got drunk.  They were basically attached by a piece of skin.

In Roman times you coud be buried up to your neck in sand.About three feet away from you they would drive a stake into the ground and attach your tongue to it via a piece of wet leather.As the sun comes up the leather dries, shrinks and rips your tongue out.Excruciating pain, severe bleeding de-hydration and then birds/critters eat your head while you are still most likely alive.
This I believe is something that should be done to child rapists.........spooning is far too kind.
