Title: Medical ID bracelet from DucPond
Post by: Cher on January 04, 2013, 05:33:58 AM

In my daily pursuit of repair parts on ebay for my 999  [bang]  I ran across this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ducati-Ice-K-Safety-Armband-Medical-Alert-Bracelet-NIP-SAFE-/200822311245?pt=Apparel_Merchandise&vxp=mtr&hash=item2ec1f1494d (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ducati-Ice-K-Safety-Armband-Medical-Alert-Bracelet-NIP-SAFE-/200822311245?pt=Apparel_Merchandise&vxp=mtr&hash=item2ec1f1494d)

I wonder, though, if the EMTs on scene would know what to make of it?

Of course they would know what to do with it.
It would be cut it off along with your leathers.    ;)

I think that is a REALLY cool idea but I have to wonder the same thing: would the EMT's give it a second look or simply ignore it?

I don't know if this is possible but it would be cool if this sort of thing was standardized and the first responders knew not only to look for it, but what to do with it.

Wishful thinking.............

It would identify you to them as a hopeless Ducati addict, thereby rendering your brain unsuitable as a donor organ.  [evil]

Donnie is top notch! He treated us as if we just bought a 30k bike AND got one of the riders in our group up and running after a mishap.  [Dolph] The tour of his vintage bike collection was really cool. Never been treated that way anywhere else.  [thumbsup]

we would consider it a personal possession, and very carefully hand it off to your loved one so as not to be held accountable for it...without another look.

ICE information should be on a medic alert type bracelet, or a dog tag, IMO

Thank you.  That is very good to know as I currently have neither and instead have my ICE info only on my cell phone.

But when you are looking at ICE information on a dog tag or bracelet, is it a phone number/contact you're specifically looking for or is it more like blood type, current meds, allergies, etc that matter the most?

truth is,...if your condition is so serious that you cant give the information yourself, EMS personnel are not going to waste any time trying to contact your family, or determining which hospital you prefer. we are just going to transport you to the closest appropriate facility.

we would however, like to know about any allergies you might have. name, date of birth, and social are also nice to have...but not critical at that end.

if anyone is looking into this kind of thing, here is a web site that has a bunch of options...along with an example of the most useful information to put on the ID.
