Title: High road to Taos
Post by: Mundman on September 15, 2013, 05:58:24 AM
 [Dolph]
Spoke to Karl a week ago about a ride to Taos. How many of the crew are interested in the ride after Karl gets back? Maybe end of this month or beginning of October. I've never done the ride and sounds cool!

Ok so the general consensus at cad is a ride to Taos on Sunday 9/29. That's this coming Sunday! I'm excited! I've never done the ride. Karl will be back but haven't heard from him but I hope he up for it! Any input?

So, what's the plan, folks?  If anyone still wants to go I wouldn't recommend meeting before 9:00 in the morning.....when the mercury is finally supposed to climb above 50 degrees.

You guys know the route. A front will move through with snow in higher elevations. How does that effect the ride. And Scott, you saw my front tire. You think it's ok for the ride?

I'll check on the snow condition with my family up North today and let you know.

I'd love to join this odessey, but too much catching up to do around the house.

The snow got down to 9,000 feet which is definitely higher than our route.
The temps won't be all that high which is OK by me.
I'm game if anyone else is going.

I can go either way. I'm kinda on the fence but I'm in if we can get a group going

Your tire should be fine, Jeff, either way.

Was great riding the High Road with you L'Scott  [Dolph]
Got home at 6 P.M. since there was a head on collision before I got to Penasco.
I waited 10 minutes and since there was no traffic moving in either direction, I turned
around and headed home via the canyon.
The bonus was that I got to do the twisty part of the High Road twice ;D [clap]
I'm a little tuckered out after 320 miles but the ride and the weather made up for it  :D

Wish I could have been there... Was all suited up and ready to go, started the bike and it revved to 3K instantly. I think the high idle control is stuck all the way on (fuel injection speak for choke all the way on).

When the bike revved my helmet fell off and broke one side of the shield off.

Wasn't meant to be.

Next time.

Sorry, that sucks! Or you may get lucky with a deal on a new helmet and visor!  [thumbsup]

Glad few of you got to put worthy miles to Taos and back!

I don't need a new helmet, just a visor latch mechanism.

Dropping a helmet without a melon in it from 2-1/2 ft doesn't do any damage (nothing to compress the foam). When you hear otherwise, they're just trying to sell you a helmet.
