Title: 944 ST2 cylinder on M900 carburetor
Post by: pepeducat on October 17, 2013, 12:29:31 PM
Well now after rebuilding my engine 900, I mounted it cylinders / pistons 944 ST2, so I'll explain how.

So the origin of the ST2 lubrication is like that, no oil filling cylinders to cool:

And did want to get a lubrication and cooling as the old 900, like this:

So the first part is to open the oil passage to the cylinder cooling, and then condemn the coolant passages (yes do not forget that ST2 is a liquid).

Here's how I did it:

Blue drilling to be done to open the oil rise to the cylinders.
I drilled with a drill of 4.5 mm, then finished the dremel (the hole in the cylinder 900 is the circumference of the hole in the oil up).
Once finished my hole, I threaded my drilling M6 then put a set screw (M6X5) with strong Loctite.
Here, the oil is there and it is now

Red is the coolant passages that will have butcher if you do not want to have any engine oil that not puke these holes
For the small, thread the hole and glue a M6 grub screw with thread lock box, it's done.
For large I ordered chips sand removal, and I emmenché also with a strong thread-locking.

The final result is:

Very cool. So you create a full oil jacket? The 900 Elefant guys would like this.

I just found it here (http://www.passagers-du-monde.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=83&Itemid=142&limit=1&limitstart=2), and then I'm inspired  ;D

Hello!
Thank You for Your post. I'm in the middle of this swap.
Can You tell me please why You close the water jacket's in cylinder and not allow oil to go to header and cool it also?
Sorry, that I'm renewing this old topic, but this info is crucial to me at this time.
Cheers!
