Title: Ouray/Telluride 2014
Post by: Zaster on January 26, 2014, 06:46:31 PM
Need some input from fellow attendees.
The event usually takes place the second weekend in August.
Ro, Stew and L'Scott will be attending Bonneville August 9 through 15 and
I would love to have them join us for DITR.
How would August 1 through 4 work for everyone?

Works for me, Karl.  If we're staying in Telluride again we wouldn't see the "other group" much, anyway!  They don't seem to be much into organizing the thing, anyway, so let's just do our own thing and invite them to join us if they wish.

Well, turns out that Krys & Matt and John Skinner couldn't make it for that date.
How would Aug 15 through 18 work for everyone?

I'll be fine with whatever date is picked in August, hopefully! :P I'll be revisiting NM mid September for some work. Will try to tag Molly in if we do Telluride...

News- We are building a home and it should start coming together about September-October, currently its flat with a bump! ;D I'll have my dream 3+ car bikes garage and am looking forward to it! Of course, any NMMR peeps this way have an invitation & at 10mins from the beach, it should be hell of a retreat for any of you! I may have an extra bike to do track as well... [thumbsup]

Ryan, they also have one bedroom condos if that works better for you.
The cooking an socializing happens in the 4 bedroom condo.

Derek,
I will do the Gateway ride but got busted by the  [leo] to many times on the Lake City run. Any recommendations for alternate runs?

Title: Re: Ouray/Telluride 2014
Post by: DucatiDT on April 20, 2014, 06:04:25 AM
Well... I guess the options are:

1)  Lake City  [leo]
2)  "Million Dollar Hwy"
3)   Gateway
4)  Dove Creek - Hwy 145 / 141
5)  Highway 92  (Montrose to Delta along the Black Canyon) - never rode this one,  I think it begins close to Blue Mesa Reservoir, so it would travel part of the route where we got ourselves in trouble last year  [leo].  Dont know what to expect but will ask around.

Thats what I got off the top of my head, unless you wanna throw some knobbies on  ;D.  I will look into other options.

Title: Re: Ouray/Telluride 2014
Post by: JJ on April 21, 2014, 12:04:17 PM
Thanks, Derek! I believe we haven't ever done Dove Creek 145/141, so it is interesting...I would prefer not going through Montrose at all, am sure they are waiting! We did 92 few years back, it is quite technical and lot of fun! Gas can be a nightmare and has to be planned on that trip, barely made it to the other end of 92...

Wonder where Ed is?! Anyone know?

He has two more grandkids and has been visiting plus helped
one of his kids move. Haven't seen him since last fall.

Wife and I are still on the fence.

Love MotoGP but the ride to Indy blows.

And love you folks but my wife doesn't want to entertain my 16yo daughter if she tags along...can't say that I blame her since my daughter's only interest is texting.

I will get a commitment this weekend if it is the last thing I do!

Hi all, first post on the forum. Got an email from Cloner earlier, just wanted to make sure someone knew I was coming. I had a blast last year on the Triumph Tiger 800XC, but it seems to run out of steam around 115-120. I will be riding my new Daytona 675R this year so that shouldn't be a problem. Looking forward to seeing everyone again for a weekend of good roads, riding, company and fine dining. So count me in for a party of one for all nights.

You mind if a Texan joins the ride?  Talked with Scott over the last 2 days and decided I needed to get away.  So I sent Karl an Email so if all goes well I will meet you at scotts house.

That'd be Scott Metcalfe, not this Scott or the other Scott.

I got a call from Jose (1198) last night and I referred him to Jonezy.  Sounds like he'd like to jump in, too!

This whimpy rascal will be in a truck with a bike in the back of it.  Probably drive via the most direct route.  If anyone needs gear transported I should have spare space.

Just checking in with the group to make sure everyone made it home OK.

Can't believe the turnout and the quality of group we had (27 in total).

Please fell free to make recommendations on how to make this an even better event next year,

I would really appreciate your feedback.

No tickets and only a minor get off is the best we have done so far.

Just curious if anyone who stayed in room 4210 where Cloner and I were happened to find themselves with two liners for some riding pants. I have searched all my stuff and truck and seem to be missing mine. I know I had them there and thought I did a thorough sweep of the place prior to leaving. It was just the rain liner not a thermal liner. Anyway, just thought I would throw this out and see. Thanks.
