Title: Socal'er looking for twisties in Bay area
Post by: lawbreaker on May 06, 2014, 11:53:59 AM
So...

I'll be heading to Laguna Seca again for the WSBK round with my fellow partner in crime and possibly another rider or two. This year, My buddy suggested we leave a day or two early and head to Frisco... see the sights and hit a few quality roads. Since I have No idea what roads to hit/visit... I figured i'd submit request to the MOB Gods for assistance.. Maybe meet up with a few riders ??

Much Thanks in advance

so much goodness...  what route are you coming up?  I am assuming coastal route, when u get to Santa Cruz, come up thru Boulder Creek, 9 I think, 35 is nice too, stop at Alice's for lunch & gas & go explore...

North Bay (North of SF) = many many Marin routes/loops of Moto-Nirvana to choose from

Weekdays are best, get started early, you will have roads pretty much to yourselves during week from 9-3

hit us up as dates come closer!

This is what I do from the south to San Francisco:
33
58
La Panza Road
Creston Road
Overnight in Paso Robles
101
G14
101
G16
1
9
35
92
1
Overnight in Bay Area

Beyond SF, there's loads of good stuff to choose from.

Inland ~half of Skaggs Spring Road is really cool, but speed limit is low.
From the middle out to the coast is pretty much a paved goat trail.

What everyone else said.  In the Santa Cruz mtns, 9, 35 and 84.  Yummy.

HWY 1 In Marin County, Just north of GG Bridge.

And this.  Hwy 1 is lots of goodness all the way up north of the City.

Our routine short weekend ride is an out and back.  From SF, Golden Gate Bridge to Marin.  Either Hwy 1 or Panoramic (usually Panoramic) to Stinson Beach, Hwy 1 up to Tomales and then back.  It's 100 miles round trip.  You can just keep heading north on Hwy 1 to Bodega Bay and it's good stuff too.

Post up as the date get closer.

Since we take the 23 -150-33-58 then up to G roads(not sure which cuz I dont usually plan the route) to Carmel Valley every year for the races, We figured we're gonna leave either Wednesday or Thursday early and hustle to S.F ( or as close as possible till we tire out and wanna chill).. Likely take 5 or 101 up. Which leaves ALL of Friday to goof about in the Bay area. Ultimately returning to Monterrey area Friday night.

Much thanks for the sugestions... Now I have some roads to look up  [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

If you want to save time, take the 5 instead of the 101.

But it's brutally boring.

I shudder at the thought of riding any kind of sport bike up the 5....

If I had a Friday free this might be what I would do. It's long and ambitious, but life is short and I think the section of Hwy 1 between the coast and Legget is worth it.

Hopefully the link works. If not I've imbeded it on my blog.

Well now that the cats out of the bag the two Harleys you were likely to see between Wages Creek & Legget will probably increase to three on any given trip.

Now it's ruined for us all... =) what have I done... well if we're lucky the OP will never read this and at least he won't be telling all of his friends how great the road is.
