I see very little in that article to argue for it. There are a lot of numbers with very little context ... too many 'what ifs' for it to mean anything to me. A bit misleading! Personally I condone filtering, and have been doing it for years, but find the thought of splitting a bit scary. I certainly wouldn't want to split with the idiot car drivers in these parts who neither know how to signal nor what lane they want to be in. At least with filtering the cars are stationary.
