Title: First Monster Post by: jakez70 on October 11, 2017, 07:52:54 AM Hi. This is my first post to the forum. I don't currently own a Monster, but I'm in the looking. Heading into winter, I think I'll be able to find a decent deal.
I've found a couple of good deals on 620 Darks. They need a bit of cosmetic cleanup, which I'm fine with. Two things that I'm curious about are - how hard is it to upgrade a dark to dual front disc brakes? Are the mounts for the disc and caliper already there, or does it basically require a new front end? Are there conversion kits out there, or can I just buy a used right caliper and disc? Also, do fuel tanks from any other models fit the 620? I did a bunch of searching on both of these items, but couldn't find a lot of information. Thanks for any help! The mounts for the caliper are there. You'll also need to replace the master. The dual discs require a larger piston. I'm not aware of any 'kit'. The tank situation depends on whether it's steel or plastic. Title: Re: First Monster Post by: jakez70 on October 11, 2017, 08:13:46 AM Thanks for the reply ducpainter.
Are the mounts for the disc also there, or does it require a new rim. The years I'm looking at have steel tanks. Title: Re: First Monster Post by: ducpainter on October 11, 2017, 09:17:40 AM The wheel is the same.

IMO, unless you are putting the bike on the track the single disk is more than sufficient with the added benefit of reduced unsprung weight. Try a nice set of HH pads and fresh brake fluid first.
